Consumer Complaint: Hello, On Friday XXXX XXXX, 2021 I purchased tickets to fly to XXXX WA with XXXX other persons and made reservations on XXXX. On the XXXX website, there was a promotional offer for a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card during the reservation activity that promised XXXX bonus miles AND a {$200.00} credit if used with the reservation. The ticket price was approximately {$3000.00} in total, and as a business owner, I was happy to qualify for such a card and saving {$200.00} was a very lucrative offer ( so I thought ). Upon checking the box to sign up for the credit card, it took me through the information scree to fill out all my personal info, including social security number. After completing all the steps, it stated I was approved, but I thought it was odd, since it didn't ask me for any business information. I then proceeded to try and get the card number, and it completely just froze and did not take me back to the screen to complete the ticket purchase. I waited several minutes to see an email with my confirmation, however after about XXXX minutes or so, I had to complete my ticket purchase or risk loosing out on securing the flight reservations. So I had to book the flight with another card. A few hours later I received the confirmation email, at which time I called American Express and explained what happened, and wanted to try and do a balance transfer or something to allow for me to take advantage of the offer ( especially since they ran my credit and now I had been approved for a card ). Well, not only were they not willing to do anything, or offer any help, they told me that it was XXXX that had to fix the problem as it was their website. But I explained it was an American Express card. At that time the Amex person told me the card I had signed up for was not a promotional card at all, and it didn't come with any benefits whatsoever, and was just a normal Amex card. I called XXXX and pressed the options to speak with someone about the credit cards, and the XXXX 's phone switch - calling the main customer service number for XXXX- transferred me to American Express. I again explained everything to the second associate at Amex, and they did nothing. I told them this is a clear violation of FCRA and XXXX, and they should correct this problem and make this right to me as a customer, however they refused to do anything. I can not understand how this is legal since they are advertising this promotion, and I am willing to do what is needed to allow me to take advantage of what they are offering, however they are not allowing me to do so. I find their activity to be totally illegal and I am pleading with you the CFPB to help me and to admonish them for this behavior. I have taken screenshots of the advertisement offer, and happy to provide any details you need to substantiate my position.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2021, I signed up for the American Express XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the first payment bounced because autopay was not set up correctly. The reason was that the American Express payment tab is poorly designed, so it was my impression that autopay settings from other American Express cards were transferred to XXXX American Express cards. It is not clear that the banking information needed to be set up again. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was charged an interest fee. Around XX/XX/XXXX, I called American Express to ask for the interest fees to be waived on the basis that it was accidental due to a misunderstanding of American Express ' autopay system. The agent agreed to waive the interest fees. However, the interest fee refund was never posted. Subsequently, I called back about a week later, and the agent could not find a record of the request. I asked the agent to refund the fee since it was previously promised. The agent denied the request since no record could be found. The agent said American Express would conduct a review of previous calls. About a week later, using the American Express app, an agent stated that the review could not find such a record. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was charged another interest fee of XXXX USD relating to missed payment on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I tried to open a credit card for my business associate under my supervision where I would be the responsible party. I was denied because my associate had a bad debt with this company that had been properly adjudicated through the Chapter XXXX bankruptcy federal laws. My associate 's record has been clean for well over the 7 years required to clear the record and has been able to qualify for a mortgage without mortgage insurance etc. Their XXXX XXXX is XXXX. I am questioning the legality of this since the credit would be in my name and I would be the responsible party and am in good standing with the company denying this credit card.

Consumer Complaint: I have been with AMEX for a year now, and yesterday XX/XX/21 I tried to do a credit limit increase but they declined. This was not the first time I tried to increase my limit. This is my XXXX time attempting to increase my limit. However, when I logged into my account yesterday, I was eligible for a product upgrade from the XXXX XXXX to the XXXX XXXX. Then, when I logged in my account today, I was able to upgrade my card yet again to the XXXX XXXX. Its sickening how I can get a product upgrade XXXX times in less than XXXX hours apart, but cant get a credit limit increase. Not to mention, the credit limit that I was given doesnt match the status of my card level nor does it fit my basic needs anymore. It was fine in the beginning because I was just getting in. Now that I have proven myself, my request should be granted with no issues. What I have asked for is nothing compared to what I know some people have asked for. Honestly, I feel like AMEX is XXXX. Im not the only person who is dealing with this issue. They give you a bunch of excuses as to why they cant do it, instead of looking at the overall picture. If you can upgrade someones product XXXX, then you can give them a simple credit limit increase. Im beyond frustrated and feel like Im being racially profiled. Also, when I asked for my new card to be shipped out in XXXX to XXXX business days, they cant do it. Thats something else that I dont get because when I switched from my AMEX XXXX to my AMEX XXXX, it was definitely done. Its all the rules and regulations for some customer and changes for a certain group of people and that is what this all comes down to. I have other high limit credit cards so I dont want to continue to hear these same excuses. AMEX tells lies when they say they want to build a relationship with their customers. This only applies for the XXXX race. Im sick and tired of this merry-go-round with this company.

Consumer Complaint: American Express charged me interest for a Pay over time purchase that I didn't authorize. When I saw the interest charge on my Amex gold account, I looked into it and realized that they must have enrolled me, without my knowledge, in the program. This caused my purchases to automatically be charged interest. I would like to request an immediate refund for all applicable interest charges and would like this terrible " feature '' disabled on my account.

Consumer Complaint: I went to use my XXXX card which is a debit card through American Express and found out I could not. So I called and they said it was locked due to fraud. They said I had to prove my identity. I did everything they asked. I had my HR department Involved as well as payroll was emailing them documents they asked for. Then in XXXX when I called them again because we sent everything possible they then said oh we want a letter of ademinity sent from my bank that my company uses but the bank said that XXXX was given enough Info on my direct deposits and info from my job on my identity. I no longer work for this company and I still can't get my money that XXXX is holding from me. I have been in a severe car accident that XXXX XXXX XXXX and hospitalized for a couple of XXXX. I could use this money badly at the time. This all started in XXXX of 2020. Please help XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I tried to get an American Express, XXXX XXXX, card. It was rejected because they stated that XXXX stated I had too many bank card accounts. I contacted XXXX and they stated they never disclose this kind of information. I have a credit score with them of XXXX have in XXXX years never missed a payment or been late on a payment. My credit score with XXXX is XXXX. They stated I have too many cards open. I only have XXXX credit cards and have had them for years. The reason for wanting the new card is I take care of a XXXX XXXX XXXX lady and her thread bare carpet is a danger to her falling. Since the cost of the carpet and new vinyl is {$7000.00} I could use the card to get significant airline miles. In rejecting the card they are, in essence, cheating me out of those miles. American Express says because of this fraudulent information they will not issue me the card even though XXXX adamantly denies they disclosed this information. American Express refuses to show me the denial. A friend who is an attorney states credit card companies will often generate false information to discourage a customer from getting the card as someone who has excellent credit is not the kind of customer they want as we dont generate interest income for them. I then applied for the same type of deal with XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX and it was approved in less than XXXX minute. I have a copy of the denial letter from American Express.
