Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: I applied for a American express business platinum card in mid-XXXX while I was visiting XXXX. The site stated it would award XXXX membership reward points. Meanwhile, American express sent me a solicitation email promising to award XXXX points. I called AMEX and sent all the required documentation. I didn't hear from AMEX. I called after a month and explained and provided more details. I didn't hear anything. I called again and was told the solicitation was not meant for me. How is it possible when the letter is sent to me. I was promised I will receive an email within a week. So far I haven't received any email. I am contesting, AMEX 's argument that it was not meant for me. In that case why did it send me the mail, wasted my time, and resources to shred the letter. AMEX is ingenuous about the whole situation and trying to stiff the customer.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: On Tuesday, XXXX XXXX, American Express mistakenly took ~ {$3700.00} from my checking account, overdrawing my account, via an Autopay feature which was set for payment of my full balance, not my minimum payment as I had intended. I called American Express to inform them of the issue and was told I should call my bank to have them reject the payment. I made my intent clear to pay the minimum amount when my payment due date arrived. Long story short, it took one full business day for the rejection to appear on my account, leaving me unable to access money for that day. On Friday, XXXX XXXX, American Express again took the same amount from my Checking account. I called my bank immediately to have them reject the payment, but again, this " Autopay '' overdrew my checking account after it had already been rejected for insufficient funds AND after being on the phone with Amex representatives three days ago making my situation very clear. It is Friday, and I am now entering one of the few weekends left before the holiday with a negative balance on my checking account and no ability to spend money. Through this nightmare, American Express either refused or was unable to provide a way to stop this " Autopay '' from taking a massive money from my account a second time, and when I asked if they were suggesting this will happen again next week, they said they had no choice but to " let it happen and tell [ my ] bank to reject it. '' Meanwhile, Amex will have charged THREE repayment fees to my American Express card. Is this XXXX? It feels like it!

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I initiated a consumer credit transaction on XX/XX/XXXX with American Express. American Express denied my application for credit which is unlawful, fraudulent and misleading. I reference the closed account that American Express cited as reason for denial of my application below. The closed account was closed illegally by American Express. -- -In the attachment labeled as Exhibit A, American Express violated 15 U.S. Code 1642 violate federal law because I made an application, but credit was not issued. American Express denied me credit. -- -Pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 6802, American Express may not report my nonpublic personal information as this statement confirms my request to OPT OUT. This means, I am requesting all inquiries and any other information regarding my relationship with American Express be deleted permanently from all consumer reporting agency databases including but limited to XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX XXXX. -- -Pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1605, a finance charge was involved because my social security number was used. Also, a finance charge is the sum of all charges so, my previous account ending in XXXX should have never been closed due to on-payment as I did not request closure. -- Pursuant to 18 USC 8, I was never responsible for any bills related to the account ending in XXXX. All bills are the responsibility of the United States. -- -Pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1602, the use of my credit card ( social security card ) in this consumer credit transaction ( application for credit on XX/XX/XXXX ) is unauthorized use because I received no benefit. Also, my account ending in XXXX was an open end credit plan and should not have been closed by American Express. -- -Pursuant to 18 USC 1341, American Express devised a scheme to defraud me for the purpose of obtaining money form me under fraudulent pretenses in all bills they sent me during the time my account ending in XXXX was open. Exhibit B contains bills mailed to me by American Express. -- -Pursuant to 18 USC 1343, American Express devised a scheme for obtaining money by means of false pretenses by transmitting writings for the purposed of executing a scheme for me to pay them for alleged bills. Exhibit B contains bills mailed or sent via wire in electronic mail messages to me while the account ending in XXXX was open. -- -Pursuant to 15 USC 1611, American Express is criminally liable for violating 15 USC 1602 and 15 USC 1605 because I received no benefit. Also, a finance charge was involved in the consumer credit transaction I initiated on XX/XX/XXXX but there was no mention of a check being mailed to me, the original creditor, for a finance charge. American Express is also criminally liable for failing to provide me with a check for the finance charge involved with my previous account ending in XXXX. -- -Pursuant to 15 USC 1681a, American Express can not deny me the credit I requested. -- -Pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1681b, American Express fraudulently obtained my nonpublic personal information from XXXX XXXX because I did not provide either corporation with written instructions to furnish my consumer report to XXXX XXXX. -- -Pursuant to 15 USC 1640, American Express is civilly liable for violating 15 USC 1642. -- -Pursuant to 15 USC 1637 ( c ) ( 8 ), American Express issued the credit card account they referenced as closed in the attached adverse action letter, ending in XXXX in XXXX, when I was the age of XXXX. 15 USC 1637 says, the card should not have been issued until I was XXXX. -- -Pursuant to 15 USC 1666d, American Express is to remit payment to me for the last known balance in excess of {$1.00} on the account ending in XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased ( 2 ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 's for {$1900.00} on XXXX on XX/XX/2021. I received one of the phone, but to find out when going to get it activated at my cell phone provider, that the phone was blacklisted, So it is basically a paper weight. I contacted XXXX Numerous times, and they were not helpful at all and would not help me. I contacted my Credit Card Provider ( American Express ) and explained that I had only received one of the products, and still was waiting on the other item. I waited about 2 more weeks, contacted XXXX once again to see where my item was and to see if they could help me with the other item as well, To find out that the other item was delivered, but was not received by me. I tried to get XXXX to help me with both of the items as I hadn't received one of the items and the other item was blacklisted and could not be used. They Refused. I then contacted my bank ( American Express ) and filed a dispute, the dispute got denied as XXXX was stating that I had received the items, This is about a month later. After seeing that the dispute was denied and they rebilled me for 2 items that one was blacklisted and the other was not delivered to me as they stated, I saw on the letter they sent me stating they were rebilling me for the purchase, that there was a signature but it was not mine, I then brought this to my banks attention, and once again we are disputing the charge again. We do this for about 2 months, With proof and everything that one item was unusable, and the other item was not delivered to me. We disputed the charge about 5 times. After the 5th time of being denied of the dispute, I called my bank once again and the guy stated i could do an insurance claim. So i go through the process of the Insurance claim with my bank, and provide everything they asked for, and once again was denied the claim. This has been a complete utter nightmare. When i pay off the remaining balance i will be closing my account with American Express. I thought they were suppose to protect the customer, But from my experience i see that, that is not true at all. They are the worst Bank i have ever dealt with and wouldn't recommend anyone to use them for banking at all.
