Consumer Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam : I received a promotion on my XXXX XXXX American Express regarding a free night certificate if I spent {$8000.00} on the credit card. I was required to enroll, which I thought that I had but apparently did not. I don't know how this would have been communicated to me, so I really would have no idea whether I enrolled. I called American Express and asked the status of my certificate. I charged a deposit and remaining payment for an XXXX, each in the amount of {$4100.00} ( or {$8200.00} ) which included a fee of {$230.00} I was required to pay the installer ( the original quite was {$7900.00}. I did so to receive the certificate. When I called today, I learned that I had not been enrolled. Furthermore, Amex refused to enroll me retroactively so that I could earn my certificate. I think I was baited into using the Amex card for this purpose, and incurred an extraordinary {$230.00} charge as a result. I probably earned XXXX certificates given my total activity during this period.

Consumer Complaint: We got an American Express Serve prepaid card through XXXX XXXX tax services to receive our tax refund. American Express has marked a legit transaction as fraudulent, and froze our card. We received an email with a link we could click to let them know it was legit, but upon doing so was told the link had expired or the issue had been closed. We've called the number on the back of the card to get the issue sorted and get the card unfroze, but the automated system has no option relating to this problem, and has no option listed to be transferred to a live agent. I've also tried calling another number I got from the American Express website, and all they can do is tell me to call the number on the back of the card that I've already tried. We've attempted to log on to the American Express Serve website, but after putting in our credentials and clicking log on, nothing happens. We've attempted this with XXXX different devices, only for all to have the same result.

Consumer Complaint: WHEREAS I am in possession of a draft that purports to indemnify American Express ( " AE '' ), against prior claims of misrepresentation made by myself and certain of my affiliates. The draft is drawn on the EIN of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( " XXXX '' ), which is XXXX. The source of payment is limited to information provided by me. The draft contains an undertaking made by me under seal, as collateral to secure payment, containing a covenant that I will assume ( i ) that a " bank draft '' is considered as " cash '', ( ii ) that the definition of a " bank draft '' includes a payment order, a transmittal order, an informal dispute, and the like, ( iii ) that initiating a bank draft is reportable to the IRS, ( iv ) that privacy notices and privacy policies and arbitration procedures are agreements to elect to not be treated as a partnership under 26 USC 761 ( a ), ( v ) arbitration, mediation and informal dispute provisions may be used as a security procedure for purposes of giving value and to allow for delegation of authority to purchase, sell, and/or exchange tax deferred investment property, ( vi ) the recording of phone calls by a financial institution is for verification purposes, ( vii ) the purpose of and utility " bill '' and any other " bill '' is to help assist in the verification of identity, ( viii ) the purpose of any credit, whether it be a credit card or deposit account, is security, ( ix ) the purpose of ATM card present PIN transactions are to help provide security, ( x ) AE can obtain emergency credit from a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXhe Board of Governors of the XXXX XXXX XXXX , or both, or " sandbox '' with Plaid or something, and ( xi ) electronic and telephonic credit card applications are set up to be electronic funds transfers as opposed to payment orders in order to prevent consumers from giving nonmonetary value as actual value. Consumer Complaint: My XXXX ran up charges without my knowledge after we separated. She changed the address on the account and other information so that I wouldnt receive statements. So I had no idea that this card was maxed out and not being paid until it was reported on my credit several months later. I filed an ID theft report with the XXXX and submitted it to American Express. I received a letter in the mail stating they would eliminate the fraudulent debt, but it was never removed. I dont feel it is fair that I am losing an account that I have held for a number of years with a perfect payment history and have had my credit score completely tanked due to the actions of someone else without my knowledge.
