Consumer Complaint: American Express Hilton Honors New Card : Applied to a solicited offer made by American Express Company on their website that would give XXXX miles if the cardholder spend {$1000.00} within the first 90 days. We made promotional spending amount but did not see the XXXX miles credited to our Hilton Honors account. We called American Express to enquire and were told by the American Express employees ( XXXX and XXXX XXXX that I did not qualify for : 1. First rationale : Bad credit history. When I shared that my XXXX score is XXXX out of XXXX they changed storyline. Changed storyline to second rationale after I shared my XXXX scores looking at the XXXX XXXX for the last 6 months. 2. Second rationale : American Express communicated that they will not offer the promotion to me based on my credit history and I still accepted the credit card. I did not receive communication of this when our cards were sent in the email. I would love to see the letter sent via regular mail. It is truly Unimaginable that American Express is now engaged in scamming customers.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from American Express about a past due balance. We reached an agreement for me to pay 24 monthly payments of {$35.00}. My account would then be paid in full, my obligation fully met. I did so. For XXXX of those months I made the payment faithfully at the same time every month. This last check which was due in XX/XX/XXXX was written, mailed out and returned uncashed by American Express. It was sent back to me uncashed, from American Express, to tell me my account was no longer in that office. There was no other address to resend that check. Yesterday I received a letter from American Express that is from an office located in XXXX Texas that I now owe {$430.00} due XX/XX/XXXX. While I agree I still owe the uncashed amount of {$35.00} this is all I owe. I don't know whether to just send the check for {$35.00} or just wait to see what happens next. I have worked extremely hard to correct my credit. I do not want this to ruin it for me. Let me also state this is not the first time I had to deal with American Express like this. In XXXX I made a deal with them to settle my outstanding balance by making ( XXXX ) $ XXXX monthly payments. Let me state, this was my mother 's balance. American Express called me the day of her funeral. Not thinking right I agreed to open up a credit card to transfer the balance on to my name. I made the mistake and will accept it. I don't know what to do with this last payment I agree I owe but I refuse to pat an additional {$430.00}. I need your help and I really think you need to look into this company further. I can backup my payments showing American Express cashed my checks.
