Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I bought XXXX ( XXXX ) American Express gift cards at XXXX. Each gift card was {$100.00} and the activation fee was {$6.00}. In total I spent {$210.00}. When the people ( XXXX ) I bought these gifts cards tried using the gift card online or in store on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX they received declined messages. On XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX, XXXX. I was on the phone with an American Express gift card representative. I provided them information of the gift card per their request. This included full card number, expiration date, and security code. The representative told me the card was active and had funds, but for security purposes I could only use it with certain merchants. When I asked to give me a list of those merchants, the representative said they could not give me the information as it was against their security guidelines. I asked why the card didnt advertise it could only be used with certain places and they said they didnt know. On XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX I checked the balance of both gift cards, which shows their active and have funds. It does not show why they keep on getting declined. Per XXXX store policy, I cant return the gift cards. In summary, I lost {$210.00} on gift cards that cant be used and XXXX cant get my money back.

Consumer Complaint: I received an Amex giftcard from my employer for {$50.00} dollars. I activated the card and checked the balance and attempted to make a purchase on XX/XX/XXXX. The card said it was declined a few times. I checked the balance, and funds were removed for XXXX cents for each failed purchase, but enough funds were available to cover the funds. I tried another vendor ( XXXX ) with the same result on XX/XX/XXXX. I had the same issue the previous year as well, so I called the customer service line and was told they will refund the full amount, and the card was declined for " my protection '', but was now ready for use. I waited until XX/XX/XXXX to attempt a purchase for XXXX, but it declined. I checked my balance, and it still shows XXXX available, so they money wasn't refunded, and I still can not use my card. The resolution for last year was that I had to load the funds onto an XXXX account, which was the only way I could get any funds. This was not what I wanted to use it for, but at least I was able to get use of the card. That method did not work this year.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a {$400.00} AMEX gift card from XXXX XXXX XXXX to utilize while on vacation. This card has declined at over XXXX different merchants, in person, over the phone and online retailers. Ive made several calls to AMEX Customer Service to receive no other answer than it is for the safety and security of the funds. I believe this is too secure if I cant access ANY of the funds EVER. So there is {$400.00} on this card that is not available for use. I would like refunded

Consumer Complaint: Purchased card on XX/XX/23. Card has the amount on it. I can see that the amount is on card and that the card is active. According to customer service " just keep trying to use it until it works somewhere ''. I called American Express gift card customer service and they said they are " protecting my funds '' and " use it at XXXX ''. I tried XXXX XXXX and in person, XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, gas stations, XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX my doctors office ect ect no matter what the " security parameters '' will not let you use your gift card ANYWHERE FOR ANY AMOUNT. However, it will let XXXX cents come off everytime I try to process it somewhere.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, XXXX XXXX denied me for an open credit plan even though their indenture agreement states that when an applicant applies for credit they shall be granted as long as they exercised their rights with good faith and clean hands. Also I have attached the letters and laws that are being violated in this matter. Also I'm in arbitration with XXXX credit agency, so im not sure how that company can report something that isn't my account. I explained that XXXX XXXX, and the issue still have not been corrected. Dear Underwriting team, Today I, XXXX XXXX was denied and received an adverse action letter today for an extension of credit by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2023. I applied for a credit card that I wanted. I have invested in this account with good faith and clean hands. Im here to accept all lines of credit, titles, and interest on this account. I have attached your XXXX XXXX XXXX agreement where it states that my note is an open-ended credit line and access should be granted. I have also attached your XXXX form that explains in detail about notes and securitization transactions from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I ask that you please open my line of credit. As you may be aware, it is against federal law in accordance with the Equal opportunity Act to proclaim an adverse action against a consumer. Pursuant to 15 U.S Code Sec 1691 ( C ) you assume civil liability pursuant to 15 U.S Code Sec 1691 ( k ). XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has violated my federally protected consumer rights : 1. 15 U.S Code Sec 1642 2. 15 U.S Code Sec 1681M 3. 12 CFR 1002 Since this letter was sent to me dated XX/XX/2023 is both proof and evidence that I have been discriminated against, and youre criminally liable. Consumer Complaint: I received this American Express prepaid card yesterday ( XX/XX/XXXX ) with a balance of {$300.00}. The card itself was bought on XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) according to the transaction history. My first purchase attempt was last night, on the XXXX website, but the purchase did not go through, even though the transaction cost was {$110.00}, which is within the balance of the card. Today, I attempted to use it for a purchase at the XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. This transaction declined twice. The card now has {$290.00} after two XXXX transactions ( which I don't understand, because I don't know how XXXX works ). The transaction I planned on purchasing through the XXXX XXXX XXXX was for {$37.00}, which is much less than the balance on the card. I don't understand why this transaction wouldn't go through, as well as the XXXX XXXX last night.

Consumer Complaint: I received a {$100.00} American Express gift card for XXXX yesterday. I have tried using it on three different occasions so far. Each time I try to use it it gets declined. I went to the website on the back of the card to check the balance and to make sure the card was active. The website showed me that the card was active and that I had an available balance of {$99.00}. The missing {$.00} is from the merchants where I tried to use the card. Each time I try to use the card and it gets declined I am charged {$.00}. I also spoke with customer service from one of the merchants about the decline message and they just suggested that I try using the card somewhere else even though their websites specifically states that they accept American Express gift cards. When I called the phone number on the back of the card, it is just an automated message. The automation gives you different options to try to get your card to work such as making sure youre entering the correct security code as well as ensuring that the card has been activated. Ive tried all these things already and I still have the same issue. I dont understand why this card is so hard to use and I also can not speak to a person about it.
