I was the victim of identity theft. Consumer Complaint: I upgraded my AMEX XXXX XXXX XXXX card to XXXX XXXX preferred card in XX/XX/2022, with a promotion 'spend {$1000.00} in 3 month and get {$150.00} credit '. I met the spending requirement early in XX/XX/2022, and the credit is still not posted now ( XX/XX/XXXX ). I chatted with the customer service multiple times since XXXX. Each time they could confirm that I have met the requirement and they can see I have earned the bonus. At first they said the credit will be posted in XXXX, then told me to wait 8~12 weeks. Now is way more than 12 weeks.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I contacted American Express customer service to be transferred to the account closure department. I spoke with an associate and indicated my intention to close the XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card due to COVID-related financial difficulties. The associate attempted to convince me to retain the card, but I informed him that I am no longer financially able to pay the exorbitant {$690.00} annual fee, which was heavily increased since I opened my account with American Express. Given my account statement history, I no longer used the card and activity has essentially been dormant for the past couple of months. The annual fee was assessed in XX/XX/2022, and as such I wanted to cancel the card timely. However, the American Express associate indicated that I will no longer be refunded the {$690.00} annual fee, and that the fee must be paid even when I informed him that I should be within the cancellation window. This feels like financial extortion and I am at a loss. All I am requesting for is to cancel the card as I have not actively used it for a long time, and with my financial difficulties I can not pay an additional {$690.00} for a product I am no longer able to use.

Consumer Complaint: Background : I am an American Express ( AMEX ) customer of over 20 years and have 5 personal cards with the company. I subscribe to their XXXX service ( $ XXXXmonth ) which monitors and notifies me of changes to my credit report. In my 20+ years of service I have never missed a credit card payment or paid late. All my accounts with AMEX are enrolled in paperless billing ( i.e. I receive email notifications instead of paper letters ). Issue/Event : Failure to Send Customer of Adverse Action Notification In Connection with Credit Decisions XX/XX/2022 - I received an email notification from XXXX informing me that American Express had reported a credit limit decrease to XXXX. This action negatively affected my credit score. XX/XX/2022 - I reviewed my email account and did not see any communications or notifications from AMEX regarding a credit limit decrease to this account. XX/XX/2022 - I called AMEX and their agent was unable to find any communications from them-to-me in their system related to the credit limit reduction. The agent said that the credit limit reduction should have generated a communication as someone reviewed and submitted the request on their end. I was never proactively notified by AMEX and only became aware of the Adverse Action due to the email from XXXX. Summary : American Express has taken adverse action against my account by reducing my credit limit. They did not inform me of this adverse action as required by law. I only became aware after it had been reported to the credit bureaus. Their actions have negatively affected/lowered my credit score. To restore my credit they want me to agree to a credit check which will further damage my credit score. I personally feel these actions are a form of targeted XXXX. I spoke to numerous representatives trying to understand what happened and why but they all admitted that this was an operational gap on their end. They may subject XXXX or people of XXXX to sub-standard processes knowing that they will negatively impact their customers. AMEX and other credit card companies should not be given a pass when they fail to adhere to their operational processes that directly and negatively affect their customers.

Consumer Complaint: In purchasing XXXX airline ticket, advertising came for AMEX Delta Skymiles as : Limited offer Earn {$400.00} statement credit after XXXX weeks after making Delta Purchase XXXX and XXXX Bonus miles after {$2000.00} purchase with new credit card in first 3 months. I open account on XXXX, had Delta purchase XXXX XXXX XXXX and spend over {$2000.00} up to XXXX paid on XXXX in almost two months. Called couple of times for follow up, they asked me to be patient and wait as it takes time and will come on your next statement. After three times follow up, they informed me, I was not eligible for bonus and statement credit. This is a fraud and rip off. I filed a claim with AMEX, no respond after weeks. Credit cards comes with perks, If I was not eligible for any reason, they should inform me right away and most likely not issue {$8000.00} credit card. How issue credit card in seconds but for bonus, I am not eligible!!! I

Consumer Complaint: I have an Amex XXXX Brilliant credit card which allows {$300.00} credits per year for charges made in XXXX property. The website says this benefit is for every membership year, which implies that the credits refresh every year that the membership fee is accessed. When I contacted Amex representatives, they also told me the same. The membership year refreshes when the annual fee is accessed, and I was told my membership fee would be charged on XX/XX/XXXX. So I made a charge for XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX for {$370.00}, hoping that it used the {$300.00} credits allowance for that year, and I thought after XX/XX/XXXX, I would get another {$300.00} credits for the next year. However, on XX/XX/XXXX the Amex representative told me the charge made on XX/XX/XXXX was already for the new year, because my account was approved on XX/XX/XXXX, so the benefits refreshed on XX/XX/XXXX. And because the charge was after XX/XX/XXXX, so it fell into the next year. Amex could not reimburse another {$300.00} for the new year. This is unfair to me for the following reasons : 1. Amex is not transparent about when the {$300.00} credits refresh. When they talk about membership year, they don't explain what it means. The representatives have contradictive explanations : ( 1 ) when the membership fee is accessed ( 2 ) the approval date. It is very confusing for customers to time the credits to use. 2. Amex does not alert its customers about the expiration of credits. They intentionally don't alert their customers so that the customers can forget. 1. Amex did not notify its customers when the {$300.00} credits would expire.
