Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX - I had never applied for Amex Gold card before and I applied for American Express ( Amex ) Gold card for the first time on XX/XX/XXXX. During the application process Amex showed me the following welcome bonus offer. " Earn XXXX Membership Rewards Points after you use your new Card to make {$4000.00} in purchases within your first 6 months of Card Membership. Plus, for a limited time if you apply for this Card by XX/XX/XXXX, you can receive 20 % back as a statement credit on eligible purchases made on the Card at restaurants worldwide up to {$250.00} back during the first 12 months of Card Membership. '' I submitted my credit card application, and it was approved instantly. Below is the link that I used to apply for this card : https : XXXX? XXXX & XXXX # XXXX XX/XX/XXXX - I received my card in mail on XX/XX/XXXX, and I began using this credit card to meet the {$4000.00} minimum spend. Please note that Amex didnt notify me either during the application process or when I received that card that my Welcome Offer was declined. There was also no mention of this when I received my first Credit Card Statement. I was under the impression that I will be receiving the offer and completed the minimum spend on my new card. XX/XX/XXXX - After meeting the minimum spend, I talked to Amex XXXX XXXX at XXXX with XXXX on XXXX XXXX, XXXX, at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX about the Amex XXXX Welcome Bonus. She confirmed that I will be receiving the XXXX XXXX XXXX in 8-10 weeks and the Statement Credit of 20 % Cashback, up to {$250.00}, on Restaurant Spend. XX/XX/XXXX - As per the terms and conditions of the credit card signup bonus offer, I should have been getting the 20 % cashback on restaurant spend, which I didnt. I contacted Amex customer care through their Chat service and the representative informed me that the welcome bonus on this card was declined. Here is their response, It appears that the welcome bonus on the card was declined. Your welcome offer eligibility depends on whether you have had the Card which you are applying for in the past as well as other factors. You mentioned earlier that someone from our customer service team via phone call confirmed with you that you will be getting this offer. With this, we need to refer you back to our customer service team as we are unable to verify any information disclosed over the phone. XX/XX/XXXX - As per my conversation with XXXX on XXXX XXXX, I contacted Amex XXXX XXXX again to check on the status of my welcome bonus offer. I called around XXXX XXXX XXXX time and the total duration of the call was XXXX minutes. The Customer Care Representative also said that my welcome bonus was declined and XXXX, who I talked to XXXX XXXX, might be mistaken. The Customer Care Rep from Rewards section created a case for review and provided me with ID XXXX. She mentioned that it would take around 10 days for Amex to do internal checks about why the welcome bonus was declined.

I sent a check for that amount the following morning while confirming the address that I needed to send my final payment. In XX/XX/2022 I received a letter from American Express with the uncashed check for {$36.00} stating my debt was paid in full. Consumer Complaint: American Express Reference XXXX XXXX American express sent us a pre qualified credit card offer for our business for American Express ( AmEx ) Platinum and American Express Gold card with an invitation number to apply. On XX/XX/2022 I filled out the application for the platinum card for our business and in the form it asked for my personal SSN. On clicking the detail why the SSN was being asked a window popped up that it was needed to verify my identity. Nowhere on the invitation only, business application for Platinum card it said that my personal credit report will be pulled. After completing the application within minutes I got the response that our business credit card application was declined due to my low personal credit score, even though our business was qualified for a preapproved invitation only platinum card by American Express. It is a completely deceptive trade practice to lure customer into applying for business credit card for more business but then decline them based on their personal credit score without informing them at the time of completing the application that a personal credit report will be pulled. I called AmEx customer service on XX/XX/2022 at XXXX XXXX and talked to XXXX @ XXXX at their office located in XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT. She informed me that she was not able to do anything about it so I requested a supervisor. I was informed that no supervisor was available so I requested a call back from a supervisor. Same day on XX/XX/2022 I received a call back from a supervisor who identified herself as XXXX from the phone number XXXX at XXXX XXXX which Seemed to originated from Arizona. She refused to identify herself except her first name, she declined to give her office location, city or even state in the United States. I had a long discussion with her about no information about pulling a personal credit report on " invite only business credit card application ''. She declined that they did not have access to my personal credit report, even though this was the explanation given on the rejection letter specifically information me that the application was declined due to my personal credit score and credit report. When I mentioned that XXXX said that she did not know if it would be soft pull or hard pull, then I notified her that XXXX is already notified my about the credit check by AmEx and it is a hard inquiry. Then XXXX stated that she can not discuss their processing material. Ultimately after about half hour discussion she notified that they will not remove the inquiry from my personal credit report, even though AmEx sent me an invitation to apply for a business Platinum credit card without my interest. This is completely deceptive practice and I would like the inquiry to be removed from my personal credit report immediately and AmEx should be punished for its deceptive practice. Consumer Complaint: I enrolled in this offer back in XX/XX/XXXX on my Amex XXXX XXXX XXXX : " This holiday season, use your XXXX XXXX American Express XXXX XXXX to get closer to your next Hilton stay. Once enrolled, spend {$8000.00} in eligible purchases with your Card by XX/XX/XXXX and earn a Free Night Reward. Plus, continue to enjoy great benefits on travel and more, including 3X Bonus Points on all eligible purchases. '' I spent over the {$8000.00} as this was a busy holiday/ski season and this is my primary credit card. I knew to wait about 4-6 weeks after the end of the offer and contacted Amex via chat and phone call after those 4-6 weeks several times. I also was to receive a free weekend night for a minimum spend on a new XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and an anniversary night for my XXXX XXXX. I was specifically told XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that I would be getting another reward night but this never happened. When I called in XX/XX/XXXX I was told I would not be eligible for more than 2 free nights per account despite the fact that the offer was valid outside of the annual/new sign on rewards. The correspondence I have received either via phone or chat has been murky and conflicting each time. I will attach my chats. I was last told via phone that my 3rd free night would arrive by XX/XX/XXXX but that hasn't happened- the rep seemed very confused and at one point told me to wait another 4-6 weeks but I reminded him the offer ended in XXXX. This rep agreed but then was referencing an offer from XXXX! Basically, I should have received 3 free night rewards but I have only received 2 and I can't receive a definite answer as to where my 3rd night is. The 3 free nights should be for- sign on and minimum spend for XXXX XXXX XXXX ( was a few XXXX and I reached it ), my anniversary for XXXX XXXX XXXX and the XXXX spend for the XXXX. Thank you.
