Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: I received, over the course of several months, several promotional pieces of mail from XXXX XXXX advertising a signing bonus with an American Express XXXX XXXX card that promised " XXXX ( to XXXX ) bonus miles '' after spending " {$2000.00} in the first three months '' of the card opening. I met the spending requirements for the signing bonus but did not receive the promotional offer as advertised. I inquired with American Express when I will be receiving them and they informed me that because I obtained the signing bonus in 2019 that I wouldn't be eligible for them again. At no point did either company make it clear that I wouldn't be eligible for the signing bonus albeit repeatedly sending me the offer in the mail to entice me to apply for their credit card anyway.

I have reached out to American Express and will await their response.

Consumer Complaint: While I was XXXX overseas, a charge was made in XXXX to pay for XXXX charges using my AMEX XXXX card. The total amount was {$20.00}. I did not receive this notification until a couple months later because I did not have access to any internet at this period of time during my XXXX. Due to this delay in connectivity, a 30 and a 60 day penalty fee wound up appearing on my account for this charge. When I returned from this XXXX, I contacted AMEX on XXXX XXXX, XXXX to file a fraud claim for this charge and I explained to the team that I was no where near the location of this charge during the entirety of my time overseas ; therefore it was impossible for me to make these charges. On XXXX XXXX my first fraud claim was opened and ultimately resolved in my favor. I waited 30 days to receive my supporting documentation letter stating the results of this case, in which the letter never arrived to me. I needed this form to file my claim with the Credit Bureaus to repair the negative annotations on my credit report and ultimately the damage to my credit score this has caused. ( I filed a dispute with XXXX to remove the negative annotations and it was denied due to no supporting documentation of my fraud claim. ) After this 30 day period of waiting, I wound up contacting AMEX 3 separate times roughly two weeks apart from each call to have the fraud department resend the letters to my address on file. After multiple failures to receive this letter, I changed my address on file and requested yet again to receive the letter which also failed and I still never received. Since the day I changed the address on file, the amount of times I've contacted AMEX to receive the letter has risen to XXXX. On XXXX XX/XX/2022 over another phone call I was told by a gentleman who worked for Sunrise in the AMEX XXXX department that " the previous representatives I spoke to never sent the letter because they could not find my fraud case. This is when I was made aware that since it has now been 10 months since the charge, " the files disappear and made it difficult to locate my case. '' At this time during this phone call I was advised by this gentleman to have to open yet another fraud case regarding the same claim in order for a supporting documentation letter to be re-generated and sent to me. I have since done so and have failed to receive any kind of documentation regarding my claim, nor have any physical proof of a fraud claim other than my two case numbers. Since AMEX refused to do so themselves, I have exhausted all options on my end to receive a letter of supporting documentation so I can properly file my dispute with the credit bureaus and have the negative annotations on my credit report be removed.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, an inquiry letter was sent to American Express regarding a closure of a credit card account. ( See Attached Letter dated XX/XX/XXXX ). American Express did not reply to my inquiry letter. The letter stated that the account was cancelled without sufficient notice and that its closure was inconsistent with the expiration date on the card, which was expected to be valid thru XXXX, XXXX. Since XXXX when the account was opened, the account had accrued travel rewards points of over a period of XXXX years. American Express closure of the account without sufficient notice is problematic as it did not provide for sufficient time to redeem the rewards point that accrued since XXXX or an alternative way by which to redeem the points such as a transfer of the points to a new credit card account. Given the long duration of the existence of the account, approximately a total of XXXX points had accrued on the account that were not redeemed nor did American Express provide for an alternative way to redeem the points before the accounts closure.

They told me to talk to the credit bureaus and the bureaus all came back as verified from American Express. However, how can it be verified if 7 years of payment history was missing from both accounts. I have been with them since XXXX. I spoke with a representative XXXX and she assured me both accounts would be deleted from all 3 credit bureaus because of the inaccuracy and assured me it would be complete XX/XX/XXXX. I waited until XX/XX/XXXX for a new copy of the credit report and both accounts are still being reported as negative " paid in full '' without all the positive payment history. I called back and they transferred me to several departments back and forth and then said they would do an investigation. After I told my intent to litigate this manner, the representative wouldn't offer me any help.
