Consumer Complaint: American Express lie about the $ they say I owe them Back in XX/XX/XXXX they notified me that my regular loan payment had not been made. So they charged me a late fee of {$39.00}. In looking into this I saw that my automatic payment through my XXXX bank account, that I made every month since opening the loan, had for some reason not been accepted by American Express. Then I went through the record of my account and saw that they had also charged me a late fee in XXXX for a payment that was not made on time. And I never realized that until I looked it up and saw it. Neither of those late fees should have been charged to me because whatever the problem was in them not receiving payment was not my fault or my bank 's fault. It was some mistake that they made! So I tried calling them to discuss it and the person I got on the phone didn't even speak XXXX XXXX I couldn't understand her and so I just hung up the phone. Then I searched their website and XXXX page and all the information I could find, to try to email them. And they don't offer or accept any emails! And I prefer email because it's documentable, whereas a phone conversation is just hearsay and I don't have the capability of recording a phone conversation. So because of all this inability to communicate with them I went over my account and what I owed them and saw how much I owed which was {$3300.00}, and from that I subtracted the two late payments amounting to {$78.00} and paid them the balance of money that I owed them, which by my accounting was {$3200.00}. XXXX pd. leaves a bal. of {$3300.00} minus {$78.00} for 2 late fees never credited = {$3200.00} owed and {$280.00} in interest paid. Ever since then, they have been billing me for XXXX XXXX XXXX. I forget the exact amount, and the illegal thing that they have been doing is that they have been calling me and not even leaving messages! They call and let my phone go to voicemail and then they don't say anything into the voicemail but the voicemail still registers as if it received a voicemail. So every day now for the past several months I've been getting these harassing calls without messages, XXXX per day, and I have blocked quite a few of the numbers that they have called me from, but it seems they have an unlimited amount of phone numbers they can use, because the blocking and reporting the numbers as spam, doesn't seem to stop them and that is why I'm sure this is illegal and harassment and should not be allowed! And, since writing this original complaint in XXXX and seeing if the credit unions could help ( which they didn't ) I got three different attempts on XXXX to get money from me from three different strangers. I also got an attempt on my XXXX bank account and my XXXX account from two other strangers making attempts to get money from me. This kind of thing has never happened to me before and I wonder if American Express, and or, some of their employees are behind these attempts, because they do have some information about my financial data? But I think I do keep most or all of my information pretty secure and protected with passwords etc. But with these attempts being made, it looks to me as though XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, would have gone through with paying these strangers my money without my knowledge, permission, or authorization! And I had to go through a lot of mumbo jumbo with them to tell them not to pay them! And this definitely is not fair or legal and if it is somehow legal then I can't believe that! So, if you can help me to put a stop to this, I would certainly appreciate it and appreciate my credit rating being restored back to what it was before they started all of this lying and deception, because my credit rating shouldn't have to suffer because of what they are doing.

Consumer Complaint: American Express ( AMEX ) is still trying to collect on a fraudulent account opened in my name. Account # : XXXX, Balance : {$1800.00}. I am a documented victim of identity theft and sent AMEX a copy of my identity theft police report in XX/XX/2022. Over the phone on XX/XX/2022 XXXX days ago, they claimed they had never received this police report and had no notation that it existed. That is a lie because I previously uploaded it to the CFPB in XX/XX/2022 through which we both communicated. I am once again attaching a copy of my identity theft police report from XX/XX/2022. Please immediately mark this account as fraudulent, stop collection activities, and have this fraud account removed from all credit bureaus immediately or I will take legal action.

At which point american express just closed the card saying i must have authorized another person even though i never did i even filed a police report regarding this problem .... They closed it it's a substantial amount of money and i need the money refunded as it's fraudulent and under Reg E i'm entitled to the due process of this.

Consumer Complaint: I am filing a complaint in reference to number XXXX. I was recently denied a credit card from American Express and know that I was discriminated against and that their decision was based off of information retained from my credit report which is filled with inaccurate and false accounts that I have been disputing with the credit reporting agencies. There were multiple violations of my consumer rights that they are liable for not only civil but also criminal. Attached is a letter I have prepared stating the violations from XXXX, XXXX, etc. XXXX wrote these laws to help and protect consumers such as myself. I spoke with 2 representatives one by the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX number XXXX who was very rude and talked aggressively telling me I was wasting my time and XXXX XXXX XXXX number XXXX who was trying to assist me the best she could. My experience with XXXX was horrible and no customer should be talked to that way EVER. I have also submitted a complaint to the Attorney XXXX and the Federal Trade Commission. My concerns continue to be ignored and I havent heard anything back from American Express even after sending an email to corporate.

Consumer Complaint: My credit limit has been readjusted back to its previous limit of {$14000.00} as of my last CFPB complaint. However, AMEX also made an error by submitting a XXXX Pull on my existing credit. Instead of giving me more credit they simply reduced the limit on my existing credit card to put on a new card without my knowledge. I've contacted American Express and was told they will ensure that the {$14000.00} will post at the credit bureau. That is not the problem because the {$14000.00} is already reflected on my credit report. I feel that my request for a credit fix fell on deaf ears. They didn't give me anything of value besides the new card they were to give me was canceled an hour after this error. I want AMEX to contact the credit bureau to fix this hardcopy error which lowered my XXXX XXXX. ( See the previous complaint XXXX )

Consumer Complaint: I signed up for a business AMEX XXXX card because they offered XXXX points after I spent XXXX dollars. I called them to ask a question and they volunteered that the XXXX dollars that I had already spent would not count towards the spending requirement because it was spent to pay for federal income taxes ( through a third party which charged an additional fee to me ). They said that this violated the terms of my offer. I read and re-read the terms and this does NOT violate them. Moreover when I applied I specifically asked whether paying federal income tax with the card would count towards their spending requirement and I was told that such spending would count. I want them to honor their offer. At this time I do not know whether to spend more on the card or to close the card account because they are liars. The only way that I can meet the spending requirement within the 3 months period is to charge even more money for tax payment. I do not want to to that unless such spending will count. AMEX lied to me. They should honor their offer.

Consumer Complaint: I received an email from XXXX XXXX deposit on at night on Tuesday XX/XX/22 Which is 1 day earlier than I normally get paid. So I logged on to my XXXX XXXX to pay remainder of my rent but my XXXX XXXX XXXX kept getting declined. So I waited for Wednesday XXXX XX/XX/22 to call and verify what was going on as I knew I had funds in the account as my payroll was deposited. Side note I have been using XXXX XXXX checking & prepaid debit card for over XXXX yrs now and have been getting payroll from same employer for over 6 years. I called & was advised by XXXX representative that I was at or very close to the $ XXXX annual limit & because my payroll was paid 1 day early that the account was locked and under compliance review.This blew me away as I didn't get an email alert, written correspondence or anything advising of this. They just locked/ froze my acct. If I had been given heads up I could have switched my payroll to my regular bank so that I could access funds to pay daily living essentials. This has put me on a bind caused me to have to pay additional late fees. All my money is tied up and I can't pay for my living essentials. My account HAS BEEN locked for 30 days now. I was advised by multiple representatives & supervisor XXXX ( XXXX, & XXXX ) To name few that the review on my account should have taken XXXX business days from Wed XXXX which would have been Friday that XXXX XXXX could have closed my account as requested and send me a check of my funds that were in the account. I FEEL THAT THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY THAT IVE WORKED HARD FOR and are being unresponsive in giving me an exact accurate time frame to release my funds close the account and send me my money via check. It has been over a week now that my account has been locked with no update or call. I just want the account closed and my money Sent to me via check Asap Desired Outcome/Settlement Desired Settlement : Other ( requires explanation ) XXXX XXXX to release my money And Close the Account asap ; Contact by the business ; Refund
