Consumer Complaint: American Express continues to deny purchases after dropping the limit from {$14000.00} to {$700.00} without notice and explanation. I want BY MAIL all contracts and statements from ALL account under my name plus the full explanation and calculations of the credit limit. If American Express can not serve well and give a decent limit to this card, please, proceed its cancelation and refund of all fees as of today. Do not call or email me, all communication needs to be written and sent by mail to my home address for evaluation and further action.

Consumer Complaint: AmEx continues to try to collect debts XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX in a somewhat backhanded way, which Im not sure is legal. I filed for XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/2013 and it has finally dropped off my credit report. I was able to continue to use an AmEx Corporate card through my employer but had to jump through some hoops to get my bosss boss to confirm that my employer would be liable for the charges and they limited the line of credit I could use. Fast forward to last week when I decided to apply to see if they would issue me a personal card and I got declined. I called and asked if it could be reconsidered due to my circumstances for filing bankruptcy ( a failed furniture store that my ex-wife started with her sister and I was foolishly the only person liable on the AmEx card it was around $ XXXX and my divorce, change of jobs with less pay, etc ) as well as my current credit score of XXXX ( this was the score that AmEx provided via their Web site for my corporate card they include a credit tracker ). I was told that they could not issue me a card and my account still shows a balance of {$40000.00} and if I paid that off, I could reapply but there was no guarantee that I would be approved. And they made it clear that if I did not pay it off, I would not be able to be issued a personal card. This seems contrary to bankruptcy laws, or at least the intent of the law that creditors could no longer attempt to collect a debt XXXX in XXXX

Consumer Complaint: Dear AMERICAN EXPRESS ; XXXX ; XXXX ; XXXX ; I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report and I still found multiple inaccuracies on the credit report from the XXXX major credit bureaus. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I'm quite not what's going on, but I can tell you that this account doesn't belong to me, and also it continues to report incomplete, and multiple inaccuracies on my credit report. It's my understanding that once an account is in charge-off status, it can not continue to report any more payment activity as XXXX days late or a C/O. For example, the dates of XXXX delinquency, dates of last active, etc are all incorrect, and with multiple inaccuracies. Still continue to report multiple inaccuracies and incomplete, unverifiable info! Different dates of XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, questionable balance, and inconsistent payment history and payment status. Delete for still multiple inaccuracies. DELETE!!! " CFPB Released a recent report detailing deficiencies of the XXXX major credit reporting agencies : XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX relied heavily on template complaint responses instead of providing meaningful and thorough responses to consumers, despite having up to XXXX calendar days to respond. Consumer Complaint: Upon further investigation, I have retained new copies of my credit reports and noticed that you did not furnish the credit bureaus with the required disclosure, within the period required by law. You are required by federal law to place a notice of dispute on my account within 30 days of my dispute, which you signed for on the signature date. I have retained a copy of your signature and date of receipt, as well as time-stamped copies of my credit reports, showing that you have violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section 623 ( a ) ( 3 ) by not placing the disclosure within the required 30-day period. Be aware that I am making a final goodwill attempt to have you clear up this matter. The listed item is entirely inaccurate and incomplete and represents a very serious error in your reporting. Additionally, you have broken federal law by not placing the notice of dispute onto my credit reports within the time required by law. I am maintaining a careful record of my communications with you for the purpose of filing a complaint with the FTC and the Attorney Generals office, should you continue in your non-compliance of federal laws under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I further remind you that you may be liable for your willful non-compliance, as per FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 3 ) - Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies [ 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ] ( 3 ) Duty to provide notice of a dispute. If the completeness or accuracy of any information furnished by any person to any consumer reporting agency is disputed to such person by a consumer, the person may not furnish the information to any consumer reporting agency without notice that such information is disputed by the consumer. ( B ) Time of Notice ( I ) The notice required under subparagraph ( A ) shall be provided to the customer prior to, or no later than 30 days after, furnishing the negative information to a consumer reporting agency described in section 603 ( p ). Consumer Complaint: I was a customer of American Express for over 30 years. In XX/XX/XXXX, I encountered a problem with a prepaid rental car reservation through a 3rd party vendor ( XXXX ) that was unfulfilled by XXXX. This reservation was paid in full in XX/XX/XXXX on my American Express card in the amount of {$290.00}. The rental period was to have begun XX/XX/XXXX, but when we want to pick up the car, there were no cars available. Since my contract was with XXXX, I tried to obtain a refund from them, but they refused. I immediately filed a dispute with American Express and uploaded all relevant documents. I should mention that, in addition, I also incurred {$280.00} in alternate transportation expenses. American Express was very polite and said they " had my back, '' but they ultimately denied my dispute, siding with rentalcars.com, who falsely claimed I was a " no-show. '' The dispute process dragged on for almost 2 months. I became so frustrated with American Express, that on XX/XX/XXXX, I called to cancel my account. My call was routed to an automated system, and although I would have preferred to speak with an agent, no human took my call. The automated system indicated I would receive a {$100.00} credit for the unused portion of my annual membership card fee. Shortly thereafter, I called American Express to demand a full refund of the {$250.00} annual fee, as their customer service was so deplorably lacking. They opened an inquiry, but no outcome was communicated to me, and at a minimum, I never received the {$100.00} pro-rated credit as indicated by the automated system. After repeated phone calls to follow up with American Express, I was told conflicting outcomes : That I would receive the full {$250.00} as well as {$0.00} credit. In reality, I finally ascertained that I would not be receiving a credit for any portion of the {$250.00} membership fee. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with an agent who suggested that I reinstate my card and use it for the remaining 4 months of the membership period. I realized this might be the most practical solution under the circumstances, and requested that my card be reinstated, but the agent was unable to do so, indicating that I would, in fact, have to apply for a new card. This likely would have required the payment of another membership fee, which I certainly would not do. Therefore I am out of pocket {$830.00}, not to mention the many hours I spent between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX trying to resolve these compounding issues, which were all resolved in favor of American Express and their vendors. At the same time, they continued to assure me that they " had my back, '' which couldn't be further from the truth. American Express is clearly profiting by misleading their customers, to their financial advantage.
