Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Good day. I am making a complaint about an American Express charged off account. The account has been closed since XX/XX/2018 and is currently " charged off as a bad debt. Canceled by credit grantor '' ( these are the exact words on my credit report as per Transition ) and yet I am still incurring charges every month on this account as if it was still open -- therefore increasing the amount originally charged off. I would like to have a resolution to this issue and to understand if American Express can still add charges to a charged off/closed account.

Consumer Complaint: There is a fraudulent credit card account with Amex that's reported as delinquent on my credit report. The account was opened in XX/XX/XXXX, while I was living in XXXX as an expat, and belongs to someone else that lives at an address in Texas that I do not recognize. I have tried to dispute it both with XXXX and Amex when I first noticed it on my credit report in XX/XX/XXXX, but it never got investigated or addressed, and now it's affecting my ability to qualify for an apartment lease. Both XXXX and Amex have denied accountability by directing my inquiry/ dispute to the other. Amex customer service pretended to have handled the issue when I talked to them on the phone, but still the fraudulent account remains on my record. XXXX denied my dispute on the ground that I have already tried in XXXX and I can not file the same dispute twice. I have always paid my bills on time and have never had any financial problems, but now I can not even get an apartment thanks to the credit rating system.

Consumer Complaint: My credit card was stolen and used for fraudulent transactions. American Express will not talk to me about it, or even disable the card from being used, until I verified my identity on XXXX After a very long wait ( in which the fraudsters continued to have access to my card ), I did complete the verification, but Amex still claims they cant find it and wont talk to me. This is insane and is unacceptable that they wont even allow me to protect my credit.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I the consumer and natural person was denied credit by American Express when I applied for the Business Credit Card. Adverse Action against the consumer is AGAINST THE LAW according to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act which is codified in 15 USC 1619c and is pursuant to civil liability under 15 USC 1692k. You are subject to criminal liability for violating 15 USC 1691 as I have proof that I was discriminated against by American Express due to the response I recieved. American Express is in violation of 15 US Code 1642, USC 1681m, and 12 CFR 1002 because I the consumer did an application in good faith, yet credit was not issued. Furthermore, because my credit card ( SSN ) was used and I received NO benefit, this is proof of fraudulent activity ( unauhtorized use of credit card ) on behalf of American Express.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: I have been with American Express since 2008. I received an offer in my AMEX app for XXXX bonus points when you sign up for the XXXX XXXX and spend {$6000.00} in the first 3 months. I applied for the card solely due to this promotion as I have a XXXX XXXX XXXX card that I love and did not need another card with a XXXX XXXX year fee. I received the XXXX card and spent well in excess of the {$6000.00} required. However, American Express only applied XXXX points to my account and refuses to apply the remaining XXXX that I am owed. I spent weeks working with American Express to try and fix the issue and they refuse to honor the original agreement that I applied to. XXXX of their representatives even admitted that it was changed after the fact from XXXX points to XXXX points. I used to be a loyal American Express customer and now will do everything possible to avoid that company. This was an illegal bait and switch, plain and simple.
