Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I booked a hotel on XXXX for an upcoming XXXX trip. This was reserved for XXXX XXXX with the XXXX being the checkout date. I have provided the XXXX receipt where I originally booked and paid for the hotel months in advance. Upon checking in I gave them my credit card as the XXXX receipt said there would be a {$66.00} fee upon checking. We were instantly bombarded by people trying to sell us activities. We do understand there is a resort fee at most hotels. We enjoy our stay, and upon checking out we are given this ridiculous receipt totaling {$1200.00} that is not only charging us once again for the stay which we already paid on XXXX, but they also tried charging us for room service we never ordered. I have provided the receipts I received from the hotel proving they tried charging me for the stay again. I refused to pay for any of it but of course they still charged me. What additional evidence do you guys need? I provided the XXXX receipt that proves I paid for my reservation, and then the receipt the hotel gave me which proves they are trying to basically extort me with the two main issues being that they are trying to charge me for my stay again and room service I didn't order. If there is any additional evidence you guys need please give me a call at XXXX or my husband a call at XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: After AMEX sent several offers, I decided to have their XXXX Credit Card ; it was approved with a credit limit of {$14000.00}. After a bit of time, it was reduced to {$700.00}, and I still haven't received any notice or explanation by MAIL, as requested several times. In the meantime, I received an electronic letter in a replay to the complaint I opened here saying : " The average of your payments in relation to the balance on your American Express ( s ) is too low. '' I do not understand this answer and need an extra explanation sent BY MAIL. I am unsure how to spend more, so pay more if Amex puts such a low limit for a client with several accounts, two businesses, high spending, a high credit score, and stellar history.

Consumer Complaint: Yes I hope this message finds you in the best way you can be, God bless you. I've recently opened a new account with American express on the date of XX/XX/XXXX, I moved in the mist of the cards getting to my old address. I therefore had a death In my family. Well I used my digital form that was sent to me and purchased XXXX dollars in items well after not receiving my new cards and my statement I called in to make a payment ask about my cards I was appalled buy the news I received from the agent first she said my balance was XXXX dollars. If that's not gut wrenching she then tells me my account is closed and in collections and that multiple deposits where returning on my account I became very concerned and made a fraudulent charges claim It was accepted my the globel fraud department at American express and was told under the FDIC I was coverd and I should receive new cards with a new account number I spent 5 hours clearing up all this and I was told to call back following day to get information about my new account my credit score was XXXX when I applied it has dramatically dropped to XXXX this ihas dramatically impacted my life my everyday ways of being able to provide for me and my family so I call in and I was now livid by the way I was told lie after misleading lies and more lies I have spent over 1 week trying to get my new cards and account information from every department from amex I have litterly soent over 4 hours every time I call being lied to being hung up on being told to call back and they have changed my account information and will not send me my new cards and will not provide me with my statement or information to make a payment for the charges I have made this is outrages and I can't let this fraud law breaking bank treat me as if Im not a paying American consumer this needs to be addressed how can they file a claim give me credit and then open a new account and put XXXX dollars on my statement and therefore not give me my account number or cards and say they cancelled my account because of collections this is concerning I have yet to receive my statement my cards and my credit is negatively been sabatoged please help and I know I have faith in you guys I appreciate your help and thank you in advance they must be reprimanded for not only breaking the laws of banking but fraud and scaming a customer

Consumer Complaint: This is regarding the dispute for XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/31 in the amount of {$790.00}. I have provided enough supporting documentation to prove my case here. This business fraudulently charged my card for service which was not provided as advertised. They do not follow NJ law with respect to the service they are allegedly providing. I have done all I can to have this charge reversed and this is my final attempt. If there is no resolution after this, I will be winding down my spend on this card and across my other AMEX cards to almost nothing and will refrain from doing business with XXXX and Amex in the future.

Consumer Complaint: I ordered items from a wholesaler, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX worth {$4900.00} and {$700.00} respectively. The seller did not accept direct credit card payments and so I process the payment of my American express card through a payment processor, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX The seller never shipped the items and did not honor a request for refund. After an internet search I discovered the seller, XXXX XXXX XXXX, operates in such a manner where they collect payment and do not honor orders from customers. I reported this issue to both the payment processor, XXXX XXXX and my credit card provider American Express. However, non of them was able to protect me and I was left to carry the entire burden and risk. Consumer Complaint: I saw I had two accounts on my consumer report from American Express that I didn't recognize back in XXXX of XXXX. I immediately contacted American Express and let them know it was a fraudulent account, I was informed to file an identity theft affidavit, and a statement stating it wasn't my account. I sent American Express a Cease and Desist and statement that it wasn't my account and an FTC report about this fraudulent account. The FTC report number is XXXX. This was sent to American Express on XX/XX/XXXX. American Express received this via certified mail on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the two account were removed from my consumer report via report number XXXX. I didn't hear anything else from American Express. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a civil lawsuit from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ( GA ) about an American Express debt, account ending in XXXX with a balance of {$1800.00} and another account ending in XXXX with a balance of {$990.00}. I immediately called American Express at XXXX at XXXX XXXX and spoke with someone by the name of XXXX. I let him know what was going on and he informed me that the case was actually closed in XX/XX/XXXX and it was indeed a fraudulent account and I wouldn't have to worry about this going any further and they would contact the law office that Monday, XX/XX/XXXX, being that it was a Friday. I was also informed that I would be receiving this in the mail stating that this account was fraudulent and I wouldn't be responsible for this account. On XX/XX/XXXX, the XXXX XXXX Sheriff office came knocking on my door around XXXX XXXX trying to serve me a paper. I wasn't home at the time, so the papers were giving to someone else. When I was told that it was papers from American Express, I immediately called American Express. I do have the phone call recorded and I spoke with XXXX. I informed her what was going on and let her know that I spoke someone before about this issue. I told her according to law, American Express were required to send me documentation regarding these accounts, such as transaction records, documentation regarding the application and identification documents. I never received these documents, in fact I never received anything from American Express after I sent everything to them. XXXX informed me that she had to file another claim to do an investigation and the previous investigation was denied due to the fact that a payment arrangement was made on the account. I asked XXXX what account was used to make this payment arrangement and who or what number was called to make this payment arrangement and she informed me she couldn't go back any further than XXXX of XXXX on her end. She also informed me that a letter was sent out to me regarding this, I asked her could she provide me a date but she stated again she couldn't go any further than XXXX of XXXX. I told her this was unacceptable on American Express end and it was a big inconvenience for me due to the fact that I was dealing with this, and also I have to take time out of my day to call American Express and deal with a fraudulent account and American Express should be the one dealing with this. I also asked to speak with a manager, and XXXX told me that a manager wasn't available and they were only going to tell me the same thing that she told me. I told XXXX that was fine, I still insisted on speaking with a manager. XXXX put me on hold and came back and informed me that a manager wasn't available but she could issue a call back for a manager to call me back. I also informed XXXX that I would be filing a complaint with the CFPB and inform them on what was going on. I also asked what would I need to do about the civil suit, XXXX informed me to call them and inform them that another investigation was being made and let the law firm know what was going on. According to 15 U.S. Code 1681c1 - Identity theft prevention ; fraud alerts and active duty alerts American Express sold this account to a debt collector, and according to law if an account is a result of identity theft this account can not be resold to a debt collector. Which American Express did.

Consumer Complaint: Subject : Dispute Ref # XXXX Transaction Amount {$1900.00} dated XX/XX/2022 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this letter with deep disappointment and frustration over the countless hours spent following up on my dispute request. I had booked a flight ticket through Amex Travel, canceled the reservation due to unforeseen medical emergency before the journey 's start date, and received a confirmation email from Amex Travel with an approved travel credit to be used for a future travel. When I called Amex Travel at a later date to rebook the ticket, they were unable to locate any travel credit in the system. Despite repeated calls to both Amex Travel and XXXX XXXX, I was forced to proceed with a dispute. Both XXXX and Amex Travel sent emails stating that a travel credit was issued, but neither party knows where the credit amount is placed or how to rebook the ticket with it. From my awareness of accounting principle, when a credit or debit is issued, it should be visible in the system with the customer account. However, why is that nobody is able to locate the credit amount in this instance? I'm extremely disappointed by the insensitive attitude of American Express accounting staff towards this situation. Instead of simply denying my genuine request, I request Amex Travel to work with XXXX XXXX to find the travel credit. I believe it is the responsibility of the division to do so when it claims itself to be a seamless travel reservation portal. I hope someone from your dispute resolution department can understand my concerns and arrive at a fair decision. I have all the necessary supporting documents for this matter. However, if American Express does not make a fair decision

Consumer Complaint: I was given an American Express gift card for {$3000.00}. before the holidays. When I have tried to use it on three separate occasions, the merchant says it was declined. I have tried reaching out to American Express and they have promised a response, but have never responded. They do not have a reachable telephone number ( recorded only responses ) and I had to through my XXXX XXXX account to get transferred three times to someone who said they would help but never returned the call. They have also charged my card for a purchase they declined and which I used another card to pay, and said they could not help resolve the issue.

Consumer Complaint: I have an amex account where my children have cards. On one of my young adult/college daughters account she attempted to pay her bill. She made an error and tried to correct it. The system said her payments were cancelled but the payments were not cancelled and the payment was not paid by her bank. The payment was attempted again the next day and the payments were covered. Amex froze all of my personal account for an account that 1. was not the primary account holders account for over 10 days AFTER being paid for XXXX, 2. I was charged XXXX for XXXX which seems unreasonable considering the account was not the primary account and the attempts to cancel the error was not honored by amex. 3. amex customer service would not resolve the issue with me and said they could not remove the hold even if the payment was covered. There is no agreement I have with Amex that states that they can uncancel a payment and use secondary card payments the account to freeze the entire account. They never sent a notification that the account was on hold and why. They have not provided any explanation why and how long the account would be put on hold. Currently it has been on hold indefinitely without explanation!
