Consumer Complaint: XXXX, representative for American Express Credit Card, has called and left messages repeatedly since XX/XX/XXXX. Called to settle debt with XXXX beginning of XX/XX/XXXX, Call reference # XXXX. Representative mentioned that company would sue me if I didn't pay the debt by that Monday. That if I wanted to stop legal action, I would be required to pay XXXX up front. He used threatening language and acted as if I was a criminal. When I told him I didn't have the funds, he kept telling me that I'm a grown woman and I should be paying them now instead of incurring a debt. This conversation lasted over an hour. After that call, XXXX has tried calling and left messages everyday for the past three weeks.

Consumer Complaint: Starting in XX/XX/XXXX approximately {$26000.00} was stolen from my American Express National Bank Savings Account. I did no receive any monthly statements. In XX/XX/XXXX I notified the bank of this situation. The bank denied my claim except for transactions occurring within 60 days prior to my XX/XX/XXXX notification. On several ocasssions I requested the bank send me the documents they relied upon in denying my claim pursuant to 12 CFR section 1005.11 ( d ) ( 1 ). Despite my written and oral requests no documents were sent me. In XX/XX/XXXX pursuant to the customer agreement I sent a letter by certified mail to American Express ADR requesting dispute resolution ( mediation or arbitraton. ) As of the date of this complaint I have heard nothing about this request.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I cancelled a flight with XXXX XXXX through American Express XXXX. I was issued a credit in the amount of {$1300.00} and told I needed to use the credit by XXXX of XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I booked a round trip flight for 2 adults ( my son and daughter-in-law ) in the amount of {$1800.00} for XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX. I received a receipt, an itinerary and confirmation of the booked flight. On XX/XX/XXXX my son attempted to check-in only to find that the flight was cancelled. After approximately 2 hours and 4 people later I am informed that the flight was cancelled on XX/XX/XXXX. I was not notified by XXXX XXXX or American Express XXXX that the flight had been cancelled and no one seems to know why other than it wasn't " ticketed '' by someone somewhere. In summary, after 5 hours on the phone and 8 transfers later, American Express has opened an investigation to determine if they will give me a credit on my credit card in the amount of {$1300.00}. An agent is going to call me within XXXX hours regarding case # XXXX. I told them they could book another flight with another airline so my son and daughter-in-law could attend the event this weekend, however they declined. It is not acceptable that I followed all of the instructions and planned ahead only to be told " we're sorry '' or " I completely understand '' and " there will be an investigation ''. One time events such as weddings or funerals can't be recreated because the credit card company is " sorry ''.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: I had an AmEx card with an annual fee open for the past ~5 years. I thought I had closed this card and forgot about it without using it since pre-Covid. During this time Amex charged me {$250.00} in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and again this year all without having used the card for a single purchase or usage of card benefits/rewards in that time span. Thats {$1000.00} AmEx collected without any acknowledgment or any account usage whatsoever. When I contacted them to try to recover some of this, they did waive the most recent fee because it was still the same month ( and would only do so if I closed my account as well ). But they were unwilling to do anything about the past several years of fees. I fully acknowledge that I should have kept better track of this account, but AmEx should be better about notifying annual fees and identifying inactive accounts when charging high fees. It definitely gives off the sense that they do not care about their customers.
