I had no knowledge of this until my credit monitoring service ( identity IQ ) alerted me of the negative account. I contacted American Express and XXXX, XXXX and XXXX to have this matter resolved. It still has not been fixed. MY business partner contacted his brother and asked him directly if he indeed did take out business credit cards in my name. He admitted to it. I will be providing proof of that conversation as well as a copy of the FTC report. There are also fraudulent inquries listed on my credit report account info : Amex Account XXXX : XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I received an AMEX gift card and the AMEX gift card will not work at any store or online. I contacted the company using the number on the back of the card and they said wait 48 hours I waited 72 and tried again. Didnt work at XXXX so I tried XXXX XXXX then at XXXX XXXX all transactions lower than the gift card amount. I called back and they said I needed to wait TWO WEEKS this time and try again. I wait the two weeks and two days just to be sure and tried the card at a completely different location this time. The card will not work anywhere so I call back tonight and the man says that my card has been blocked by all the places Ive tried the card and that I need to contact the merchants to have them remove the block. I believed him, so I contacted the merchants and the merchants contacted supervisors and engineer teams and everything and they said no such thing is happening and that I need to coordinate with American Express. Beyond frustrated.

Consumer Complaint: I suspect Amex is selling my private information. They allow charges from an unknown merchant that pretends to be XXXX and although I dispute these charges, they post them back on the card and continue to allow the merchant charges go through although its not a merchant I do business with or have ever allowed these charges. Along with this, I get several texts and calls a day from scam merchants like the XXXX Amex is working with, Ive heard terrible things from this bank before but the fact that they wont let me dispute a charge thats clearly fraud leads me to believe they are working together. I literally just wanted to despite this charge Ive never had this merchant, they pretend to be XXXX but all my XXXX payments go through a different card and Ive not authorized this card to be used. They said theyd also waive the membership over the phone and when I tried communicating about it they said thats not true and that was one lie I was told but dont care about due to them not letting me dispute.

Consumer Complaint: I was given a {$100.00} American Express Gift Card from my company. If I check the available balance for the card using the American Express gift card website, or if I call their 800 number, it indicates the card is active and has a {$100.00} balance. However, for one year I have been attempting to use the card and it is always declined at any merchant I attempt to use it with. It it is not a physical card, so it can not be used directly in a store, but must be used online. I have attempted to use it with many merchants, and they are all reporting that it is being declined by American Express. Both XXXX and XXXX have confirmed the decline is from American Express. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone at American Express. When I did, they explained the card will be declined " for my protection '' but refuse to provide further information either hanging up on me, or transfeing me to an endless queue to speak with someone else. The only suggestion I have received from them was to continue to attempt to use it at other merchants, until hopefully one will be approved. This is an absurd suggestion, and seems to infer that it is possible American Express never intends to actually honor the gift card and never make the {$100.00} available for use.
