Consumer Complaint: I've been using American Express prepaid gift cards for years, and as of XXXX American Express is blocking transactions at all major retailers. AmEx has admitted to me that they block online transactions at XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, etc so it's making the card close to useless. I can't get the card to add to XXXX XXXX about 95 % of the time, and when I do get it added it just fails when trying to use it at stores like XXXX XXXX and XXXX. Again, I'm very experience with these cards and I've been using them for at least 10 years, and as of XXXX they are nearly useless. I can only get them to work when I physically swipe at some merchants, so this severely limits how I can use it. They say it should work at online retailers but it does not, and it is AmEx that is blocking it's use.

Consumer Complaint: I stayed at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX XX/XX/XXXX and piad with my AMEX Corperate Card. Upon check out the hotel refused to provide me with a receip. The desk worker was incredibly rude and just kept yelling that its their policy to to give receipts. After much argument she finally printed out a checkout confirmation that stated that i checked out at XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2023. The hotel then proceeded to charge me for an extra day. First claiming i checked out on Sunday. Once that was proven to be impossible the hotel changed their story and is now claiming i checked out at XXXXXXXX XXXX on XXXX the XXXX. I have raised a complaint with the hotel. XXXX XXXX and American Express. All which have failed miserably to understand let alone remedy the issue. The hotel has been completely unresponsive while XXXX as failed to follow up after talking to a manager at the elite support line. AMEX failed to follow their own dispute procedure and out of systematic incompetence has repeatedly failed to investigate the matter in a timely fashion. Attached documents 1. the receipt from the hotel with a time stamp of XXXX Sat XX/XX/XXXX. 2. Proof I Returned my rental car at the XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXXXX/XX/XXXX 3. Proof i was on board a XXXX flight which depared at XXXX XXXX. Meaning i was on board the aircraft no later the XXXX XXXX and at the airport no later then XXXX to be in time to check luggage. 4. Proof i checked into a XXXX XXXX in XXXX by XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has adamantly refused to correct the billing issue and provide a correct receipt for the charges. They first insisted i had checked out Sunday the XXXX and then later claimed i checked out at XXXX XXXX Saturday. Both are impossible and the hotel employee keeps making up more lies to try and cover her mistake. Hotel mgmt has failed to act. XXXX XXXX and AMERICAN EXPRESS has been allowing fraudulent activity to go on under their watch and has done nothing dispite the overwhelming evidence that has been providedto them.

Consumer Complaint: I received notification on XXXX XXXX that my account was closed. I called them on the same day, they said that it was likely a bug to be resolved within 48-72 hours. I called them about 5 days later, they said it was a bug and would resolve it. About 2 days after I called again and they said it was showing that it was due to a charge that had previously bounced - however that charge was related to a corporate/business account that bounced when XXXX collapsed and the company had to move accounts from XXXX. Also the account that bounced was for the business cards which AMEX left open, however, they decided to use that as an excuse to close my personal account. I have not heard back from them till date despite multiple promises to do so

Consumer Complaint: This AMEX giftcard has been very frustrating. While it claims to be able to be used wherever amex credit cards are accepted, this card has not been accepted anywhere. So, now, the person who purchased this for me thinks they gave me a nice {$500.00} gift, when in fact, AMEX took their money and has effectively kept it all. Support regarding this card has been nearly impossible. I tried calling their suggested number, and it does not allow you to speak to a representative. I called another AMEX number in hopes to get support that way, but the person who I spoke with could not help. This is simply not right. I have also seen several other complaints like this on XXXX, so this is clearly a known issue impacting several customers that AMEX has still not addressed.

Consumer Complaint: On my American Express Platinum Card, I was charged {$550.00} in interest cost, posting on my statement on XX/XX/2023, which I believe was an overcharge. I first approached American Express Customer Care using Chat Function on XX/XX/2023. The Professional Rep indicated that interest charge resulted from {$960.00} that went unpaid for 25 days. After he or she was unable to authenticate the interest charge, the Rep pledged to open an investigation to validate interest charge calculation ( XXXX ), but failed to do so or follow up with me. I saved the Chat Transcript. Next, on XX/XX/2023, I followed up with American Express again. Similarly, the Professional Rep had no knowledge of my prior inquiry or concern on the interest rate overcharge, nor a record of the prior investigation. I also saved this Chat Transcript. I allowed 3 weeks for them to resolve and follow up with me, and they haven't done so.

After several calls, I still can not transfer my Membership Rewards points from my AmEx account because the company refuses to adjust my account name to my full legal name. In your response, you stated : " Please contact us at your convenience using the number on the back of your Card so we may perform a name XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX change on your account to reflect your full legal name. '' In the interim, I closed my gold account and transferred my points to my corporate card. Several times have I called you attempting to change my name. I have filed out an online name change request, providing you with my international passport, which is the only form of ID I currently possess in you US. That form of identification was denied for reasons that are not clear to me. In a call today ( XXXX XXXX ), a call center supervisor could not help understand why the name change was not performed. A different call center service member promised to perform the change at the end of XXXX, said that they were gon na get back to me in 24-48 hours, and never did. It was now said that some form is being mailed to me and that I should complete it, but that is not what was stated in the previous complaint and I have no indication that that will solve my problem. Evidence continues to mount of AmEx unwillingness to correct its mistake and reflect my full legal name in my account. Please, provide me with a phone number of a competent person that I can call to make this change and do not relegate me once again to your poorly trained customer service members since I have already done 5+ calls in the last couple of months and they have been utterly incapable of helping me. If a satisfactory resolution in not provided by the end of XXXX, I will be hiring an attorney and proceeding legal action.
