Consumer Complaint: I received an American Express gift card and tried to use it online at both XXXX and XXXX on XX/XX/2023. The transactions were declined. I called and was told to redeem it in person. Tried to use it at XXXX XXXX XXXX in person today and declined as well. I have another card that I have tried to use at a Gas station and XXXX XXXX. Declined as well. I have spent 4hours on hold between yesterday and today and can not connect with a representative. This is false advertising as well. Says you can use anywhere that accepts credit cards.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a {$60.00} American Express card just two days ago at my Local XXXX. I made the mistake in getting this one as opposed to the usual XXXX, but I figured, why not. This shouldn't be much of an issue. I tried then using it on XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, etc, and all of my transactions have been declined. I am beyond frustrated because it seems theres other issues in regard to this as well online. This is XXXX XXXX stolen from my hard earned money, and not to mention, I'm being charged for every transaction even if it bounces back? There's a XXXX fee on my balance as well. please help me.

Under 15USC 1681 section 602 states I have a right to privacy. 15 USC 1681 section 604A section 2 also states a consumer reporting agency can not furnish an account without my written instructions. Under 15USC1666b a creditor may not treat a payment on credit card account under an open end and consumer credit plan as late for any purpose.

Consumer Complaint: I received an offer online for a settlement to close my AMEX account. The balance was approximately XXXX and agreed to pay XXXX for settlement. I had the payment scheduled and it was deducted from my account. I even sent an email prior to the payment scheduled day to confirm it was for settlement of my account after the payment was deducted they did not close the account or take it as a settlement. They used it as a regular payment and also took a {$300.00} balance that I had an associated send account and applied it to my balance after review down and payment was taken for {$4000.00}.

Consumer Complaint: Oh my goodness where to start. My husband and I booked a hotel for XXXX, XXXX as part of our honeymoon from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/2023. The hotel is called XXXX XXXX. We booked the hotel on XX/XX/2023 it was for 2 nights, 1 room, and it was going to be my husband, myself, my best friend, and my best friends boyfriend who were going to stay at in the same room. The total came out to {$750.00}, however, we were not charged the amount until we checked into our hotel on XX/XX/XXXX. We got to the hotel at approximately XXXX XXXX. The four of us were all exhausted, so we just checked in handed the front desk my American Express platinum card, and our passports, and then went to our room. We put our bags down on the floor then the four of us decided to take a nap, about 30 minutes into our nap my husband wakes up and says ow something had bit him on the arm, I go over to look at his arm and it looks like a bug had bit him. We immediately started searching the beds in the room and sure enough we saw one bed bug under the mattress. We also saw dried up blood spots all on the mattress. I took a picture of my husbands arm and of the dried up blood spots. We started looking for other hotels and luckily found an XXXX not far away. We got our bags and as we were leaving the gentleman who checked us in asked us where are we going? My husband told him that he got bit by a bed bug, but the gentleman assured him it was just a mosquito bite. The gentleman asked my husband to show him where he found the bed bug and the dried up blood spots, the gentleman went to the room but literally just swiped at the bed sheet and did not do a thorough check. The gentleman ended up charging us the full amount even though we were at the hotel for a total of less than an hour. We ended up filing a dispute with American Express and explained the whole situation to them and provided the pictures of my husbands bed bug bite on his arm, and of the dried up blood spots on the mattress. Initially Amex sided with XXXX XXXX until we provided all the information. Then Amex sided with us. But then on XX/XX/XXXX I see the charge of {$750.00} show back on my Amex Platinum statement. On XX/XX/XXXX I call Amex customer support saying why was the charge posted again and they said because XXXX XXXX did not agree with the dispute. I asked to speak with a manager and they said for me to call the Amex Travel Insurance support, since apparently Amex Customer Support did not want to deal with my dispute anymore, they said there was nothing they could do anymore and I would have to pay the charge, pretty much telling me to XXXX off.

'' This is false. In fact the account should have been XXXX-out and cancelled on XX/XX/XXXX. Eventually, XXXX found the XX/XX/XXXXXXXX interaction and agreed. 2. ) " No further charges will be approved. '' " Please contact ... compan [ ies ] [ that ] have any recurring charges on these accounts... to ensure these bills do not go unpaid. '' " ... destroy any Card ( s ) you may have for the account ( s ). '' Believed I had done all of this XX/XX/XXXX. Asked XXXX if there were any additional charges on the account or if somehow the card had been fraudulently used after XX/XX/XXXX. Fortunately, XXXX said, " No. '' 3. ) " We reviewed... information when making this decision ( to cancel the card/account on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX ), including your history with us. '' Asked XXXX if AmEx had reviewed every transaction/interaction since XXXX. XXXX did not know but suspected that AmEx had not. XXXX. ) " We made this decision for the following reason ( s ) : Your account ( s ) with American Express is or was past due. '' This is false. On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX I consented to AmEx keeping {$21.00} residual Reward Dollars ( RD ) as a Thank You for cancelling the card/account. In XX/XX/XXXXXXXX AmEx promised to investigate what happened on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX - AmEx did not. On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX AmEx owed me {$100.00}. On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX AmEx owed me {$690.00}. Informed AmEx ( XXXX ) that if this is not resolved an {$11.00} interest/finance fee will be added on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX and AmEx will owe me {$700.00}. 5. ) " ... give us a call at the number on the back of your Card. Consumer Complaint: American Express " Gift Cards and Business Gift Cards '', an eGift Card was provided to me by my employer. As this is an eGift Card they refuse to send me a physical card. I am unable to use this at a store because they won't use the numbers from my print-out ; they require a physical card. Online and through discussion with customer service " can be used at any online retailer or any store '' ; instructions for using at a store " swipe your card '' - impossible. I tried to use this at 4 different online retailers and it was refused. Amex customer service tells me that these retailers have been blocked due to fraud. ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX ). I can see the 'pending charge ' of {$0.00} from each of them trying to process my order. All of my orders have been declined. The customer service rep says " you can use it at any online retailer '', when I asked for an example they can not provide any place where I CAN use it. I asked for a refund, they said since it is a 'rewards ' they can not refund. They also said they can not refund to my employer.
