Consumer Complaint: Hi I am having difficulties with American express. I had 3 american express cards which recently went under financial review. I failed the review ( due to paying my bills from my husband 's bank account when my name wasn't on the account ) they closed all my cards. That is not the reason for my complaint as they have rights to do that. ( Although that's a lousy reason in my humble opinion ) When they closed my cards ( on XX/XX/23 ) I had some points on my XXXX XXXX XXXX card ( I don't know the exact number since amex won't give me access online to my rewards ) I am now unable to use those points and they are essentially voided. I had earned those points by purchasing using my card over the years. Knowing that my account was probably going to be canceled I attempted to use those points before my card was canceled. This is something that typically can be done but there were technical issues in my case and multiple amex representatives told me that it's impossible. ( There are 2 ways to use points a )- as a statement credit which I was unable to do since I hadn't used my card in the past few months so there was nothing to credit and b ) to use on XXXX by pressing " buy with points '' which I couldn't either do since my card at that point was under financial review and you can't use buy with points when the cars itself can't be charged. I'm trying to retrieve those points which seems impossible and is the first reason for my complain. A similar issue happened with my amex business platinum card. I spent approximately {$85000.00} on it which should give me around XXXX membership rewards points ( since XXXX membership rewards points per {$1.00} spent on that purchase ) I was unable to use those points since they were only to become available on XX/XX/23 and amex canceled my card on XX/XX/23. Typically a customer would have 90 days to transfer those points out after being canceled by amex but since my points never hit my account before cancelation, it may be lost. Now in this case they still are looking into it and have provided me with a case number, but its likely to be a problem. Either way I have spent hours on the phone with amex and have lost over {$1500.00} in points with seemingly no recourse. Any help from the financial bureau would be helpful. Thanks

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, my ex-wife filed for a divorce. That has created many financial hardships. I have either made good or made payment arrangements with every debt that I owe, including two other credit card companies. On XX/XX/XXXX, my balance was {$11000.00} I was presented with a payment relief option to handle my past due American Express account. This option stopped late fees and dropped the interest to the point that after making XXXX payments of {$71.00} my balance would be paid in full. I set up auto payments set for every Wednesday in the amount of {$71.00} for the next XXXX weeks. I have the email from American Express with the payments scheduled out over the next XXXX weeks. Between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX there were a total of six payments made. On XX/XX/XXXX I checked my statement and discovered that between XX/XX/XXXX, when I signed up for the payment relief and XX/XX/XXXX my six payments totaled {$420.00}, but during the same time period I had been charged two late fees for {$40.00} each and interest charges of {$560.00} totaling {$640.00} so on the six payments, instead of balance going down it actually went up by {$210.00}. I reached out to American Express on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX because I figured there must have been a mistake. After talking to various people, it became obvious that American Express was not going to honor the terms of our agreement. They kept saying I had not signed up for a payment plan. I tried to explain I had an email titled " Payment plan confirmation notice '' and included language like : " Once your balance is paid in full, any remaining scheduled payments will be cancelled. Other than communication regarding your payment plan, no further attempts will be made to collect the remaining balance while you are making payments in accordance with the terms listed above. '' I explained multiple times I wanted to make good on my debts but I wanted them to honor our agreement and they continued to tell me that we had no agreement. At that time I canceled making any future payments.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX I was denied business credit after applying for a credit card for my business XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX using my IRS issued EIN number with American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX card. I then received letters from American Express for both of the aforementioned dates in which American Express explained why they can not approve my application at this time. American Express denied my business credit card applications because they stated that I had canceled previous accounts with them. Both letters indicated I could contact them and try to qualify for a new car in the future by submitting an application at a later date. When I was initially denied on XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX, I waited almost 8 months before I re-applied again on XX/XX/XXXX in an effort to follow the instructions of American Express to which they indicated in their denial letters for me to submit an application at a later date. I followed their instructions and again my business was denied a credit card for the American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX card for a second time on XX/XX/XXXX. Back in XXXX, while I was married I did file for bankruptcy with my husband at the time and everything was written off for the personal American Express credit cards that we shared together. However, Ive never previously had an American Express business credit card. I am pointing this out to state that both attempts for me to apply for the American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX card is for my business only and not for a personal use credit card. I feel that American Express is discriminating against my business because of my past personal credit cards that have been paid or previously covered under my personal the bankruptcy more than 13+ years ago. Again, I am emphasizing that I applied to American Express under my legal business in order for use for business transactions, not personal use. I strongly attest that American Express refusal to extend credit to my legal business is discriminatory and they are using my prior personal credit/prior bankruptcy as reason rather than the creditworthiness criteria of my business credit. For these reasons in good faith I am submitting this formal complaint about these illegal practices in determining my business ability to obtain credit through American Express. I am including both of the rejection letters for your review. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I reached out to XXXX to correct inaccurate personal information on my credit report. There is an address listed XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX CA XXXX. I asked for this to be removed, but the rep ( XXXX XXXX stated that it can not be removed, because the address is listed by a creditor. When I asked the name of the creditor, he stated American Express. I haven't conducted, nor ever received a statement, or any other business with American Express from that address. Also, American Express has the credit account as a charge-off, but they never sent me a XXXX. American Express is also selling my information to debt collectors without consent ( please see attached letter ). I need American Express to have that inaccurate information deleted off my credit report immediately. American Express is utilizing unfair credit practices.

Consumer Complaint: RE : AX enticing me to open new accounts with a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX To Whom It May Concern : I am writing regarding a letter I recently received from American Express admitting that they had made a mistake in the past when they closed three of my accounts that I had opened with AX. Now they are saying that an account that I had opened with AX ending in XXXX was closed due to a technical issue. The strange thing is that AX closed my accounts in XXXX and explained why the accounts were being closed. So, I dont know if I believe it, was a technical issue. At this moment I am confused because I dont know if this letter, I received is a real letter or is it a system generated letter that does not mean anything. Or maybe AX is losing some businesses and is trying to lure in old account holders and attract more business. I know that AX got hurt when XXXX years ago Cancelled their membership. So, I dont know if they need new customers now to open new accounts. Regardless If AX cancelled my accounts in the past then they should reinstate the account in question since it was their mistake. I dont see myself applying for a new account and come later that it was a bogus letter. According to AX when they closed my accounts, I was told that I could not open anymore accounts with AX in the future. So, what is it that they want now? You made the mistake AX then you fix it and send me a new card. So, I need some clarification from AX why they sent this letter now and why is it that until now they are correcting an issue that happened in XXXX. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB. Thank you so much for your help. I'd like to file a complain American Express dispute team. I've filed dispute this summer. Then shockingly merchant responded with complete forgery of consent form with my fake signature that says " I agreed to non-refund policy '' OMG. Hello? anyone can win dispute if card issuer allows merchant to submit 100 % fake document. or American Express do not know what forgery means as a crime?! I submit rebuttal follow up how it's a forged document, provided a " clear '' evidence and my real signature what it should look like from public ID... However dispute team isn't carefully patiently go through and read my submission and responded to me I'm lost over a FAKE document that I didn't even signed for. This is insane. I'm shocked to know American Express is up to support evil criminal! Where is Justice? XXXX I'm with amex 23 years. They don't even keep a record of my real signature to XXXX to match. I had much more expectation to AMEX. so what I'm going to do is to hire. a lawyer and battle at court?
