Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I applied for the PSLF waiver as I have worked for the State of Missouri for over 10 years and made lots of unqualified payments. After they spent months reviewing my information ( despite my correct information being entered ), they said I actually had LESS qualifying payments than before. I have called will be on hold for hours and then who answers transfers me to PSLF person to only be on for HOURS more. No one has any answers or help and this is a joke.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I am currently in the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( PSLF ) program and have payments that I made while in school that I am being told will not count as qualifying payments toward forgiveness because the lender had automatically ( without my knowledge or consent ) placed me on an in-school deferment because I went back to school. However, while in school I was still making payments on my old loans from when I first went to school, so these payments should have counted. Please change the XXXX program to count payments that were made during in school deferment or forbearance periods. It is unfair that 3 years of payments I have made won't be counted and this needs to be fixed as I am not the only one this is happening to.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I am trying to participate in President Biden 's temporary expansion of public service loan forgiveness ( TEPSLF ). Prior to consolidating my loans and enrolling in public service loan forgiveness ( PSLF ), I worked for the District of Columbia XXXX XXXX. My loan history on XXXX XXXX XXXX shows that I was in repayment of my loans from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. Because I worked for a qualified employer and did not have private loans, those payments should count towards PSLF because of Biden 's XXXX. I submitted my employer certification for DC XXXX XXXX, dated XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX, to FedLoan Servicing on XX/XX/XXXX. Since that time, no one has reviewed that employer certification for qualifying payments during that time period. I have called FedLoan Servicing an average of weekly since submitting that employer certification. They tell me they can not see my payment history prior to consolidation and I need to speak to the Department of Education. I have also called the Department of Education Ombudsman XXXX XXXX almost weekly since XX/XX/XXXX. They tell me they can not see my payment history at all, and FedLoan Servicing has to decide if any of my payments from XXXX XXXX- XXXX XXXX count towards XXXX. No one will review my materials! There is not point to XXXX if not one reviews payments that count towards PSLF because of XXXX.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: During several long spans of time while trying to repay my student loans, while teaching in a public school, I suffered some financial set backs where I was unable to make full loan payments. When I called to asked the servicer about my options, I was always steered toward forbearance. They told me that partial payments didn't count toward XXXX, so it didn't make sense to make that payment at all and that I should just do the forbearance until I was more financially stable. This was correct at the time except that I was still accruing interest and not making any progress on that, which is predatory. Now, that the new waiver is being applied to partial payments, people who did make partial payments are having those months count toward their forgiveness, while those of us to took the advice of the servicer do not. This does not see like a fair and equitable practice. I would have made a partial payment of what I could afford if I had not been steered y my servicer. Forbearances and deferments should count toward XXXX counts under the new waiver.

Consumer Complaint: I was placed on student loan forebearance XXXX XXXX XXXX due to being on unpaid maternity leave. I was never advised to recertify my income to show my loss of income, therefore I lost those payments eligibility for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. In adddition, from XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX I was also placed on forbearance, due to awaiting on the XXXX to amend my taxes from married filing jointly to single so that I could afford an income based payment plan. I was never advised to turn in a paystub instead of wasting XXXX months of eligible payments. In XX/XX/2017, I was placed in forebearance unknowingly while they recertified my income driven plan, again taking away an eligible payment.

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I, XXXX XXXX, under the penalty of perjury certify and affirm that all forthcoming statements are TRUE. PHEAA/Fed Loan Servicing has been violating my federally protected consumer rights by failing to provide proof that are not committing fraud but attempting to collect a on an alleged debt without being the holder of the original instrument of indebtedness, which would prove that I am obligated to pay XXXXHEAA/Fed Loan Servicing . On XX/XX/XXXX I sent via usps mail a cease and desist and debt validation letter to PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing requesting that this company produce the original instrument of indebtedness related to partial account # : XXXX. This certified mail was signed received by PHEAA/Fed Loan Servicing on XX/XX/XXXX. As of XX/XX/XXXX I had not received any response from PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing so I submitted a consumer complaint to the CFPB on XX/XX/XXXX. The CFPB sent this complaint to PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing on XX/XX/XXXX. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing then responded on XX/XX/XXXX that they had received the complaint and were initiating an investigation. On XX/XX/XXXX PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing stopped furnishing all of the accounts associated with partial account # : XXXX to all of the consumer credit reporting agencies and in turn all of the accounts were removed that same day from all my credit reports and files. This significantly hurt my credit score! On XX/XX/XXXX PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing responded to the CFPB complaint admitting that I had been a potential victim of FRAUD! This admission of guilt by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing on XX/XX/XXXX was devastating and still has not been remedied or addressed by the company. As of XX/XX/XXXX PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing admitted to FRAUD and refused to pay the bill of particulars or right to cure that was submitted along with my CFPB complaint on XX/XX/XXXX. As of XX/XX/XXXX PHEAA/ Fedloans is still attempting to collect on this alleged debt after admitting that I was a victim of fraud. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing is still practicing FRAUD by refusing to provide to me the original instrument of indebtedness that says that I am obligated to pay them. I did not request a copy of the deceptive " promissory note '' that I was coerced into signing which does not state that PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing is the holder of the original note but instead is used by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing to gain permission to continue borrowing and leveraging their reserves. The creation of the promissory note by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing is predatory practice because its deceptive wording convinces individuals to take out loans in order to help PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing make money while violating the rights of consumers. Federal law says this alleged debt should have been validated within 30 days of the date that the first request for debt validation was received by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing XXXX XX/XX/XXXX via certified mail. This predator failed to abide by that federal law. They admitted to FRAUD on XX/XX/XXXX and still are illegally attempting to collect money from me. These acts of fraud have hurt my reputation, my mental health, my relationship, my financial credibility, my credit history and credit score, my family 's lifestyle and needs, and much more. This shall stop immediately, or I will be filing a lawsuit with the district court of Pennsylvania. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing shall discharge this fraudulent debt immediately. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing shall refurnish all accounts back to all of my credit reports and files as a " PAID IN FULL '' status. PHEAA/ Fed Loans Servicing shall discharge all debt that is being furnished under my fedloans.org online account and ensure that the account reflects a ZERO balance as PAID IN FULL. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing shall provide me via usps mail proof of all remedy and changes to credit reports. PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing shall honor my bill of particular and right to cure within 30 days of receipt of this complaint due to harassment, defamation, contract lasw fraud, violating truth in lending act, violating fair credit reporting act, violating fair debt collection practices act, medical treatment and expenses due to stress related to fraudulent claims and debt collection by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing , and denial of personal loan due to inaccurate credit reporting related to fraudulent claims and debt collection by PHEAA/ Fed Loan Servicing XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I was a co-signer for my daughter 's student loan. I paid off the entire amount on XX/XX/2022 because my daughter was having great difficulty paying off her loan. I was due to receive a pay-off letter 30 days after it was paid, but as of this date, I have not received the letter. I called American Education Services Customer Service Department on the first week of XXXX and was told that the letter was sent. However, I never received the pay-off letter. I called again after one week and they again stated they sent the letter and will send another one. Again, I never received the letter. I called again ( 3rd time ) last week and they again claimed it was sent. As of the day of this complaint, I have not received my pay-off letter despite that all my contact information is correct. I stated that since I paid-off the loan in its entirety, I am entitled to a pay-off letter.

Consumer Complaint: I have become XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX veteran Amd unemployable. My rating is 80 %, but as stated above permanent and total which pays Amd qualifies me as 100 % because I am unemployable. My other private school loans honored this ( XXXX XXXX ) Amd discharged my loan. Aes told me to apply multiple times Amd denied as they said I was only 80 %. They should be following the same guidelines and they do discharge for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX veterans which I am. Then I applied per them multiple times for forbearance. First time they denied me as they said I did not check the correct boxes, but did as the rep told me. So then resubmitted and they said I was more than 69 days past due Amd would have to bring current to 60 days to be approved. If I wasnt struggling g financially why would I need a forbearance?

Consumer Complaint: I have been working with Fedloan.org to certify my employment ( which has been the same since 2006, with the State of Michigan ). Now that I am getting closer to meeting the requirement to have my student loans forgiven, all of a sudden they can not accept my employment certification. This is causing more that a year of months not to count toward the XXXX. Their reason for not accepting the employment certification is that they saying it is not a valid signature from HR present. That that signature is 'typed ' and not a 'wet signature '. When I contacted HR for the State of Michigan, the indicate that what they have provided to me meets the 'wet ' signature requirements posted on the website at fedloan.org. In addition, they informed me that they complete hundreds of these form all of the time for employees and have never been told that they will not accept them. So I am not sure why mine is different. HR has completed two forms and fedloan.org will not accept them, which leads me to believe they are just looking for any reason to prevent me for qualifying for the XXXX. This is not fair. Please help.
