Consumer Complaint: I have tried contacting a loan officer multiple times while waiting on hold for hours after receiving an email that my loan consolidation would not go towards my XXXX. This was not my understanding of XXXX and I have worked hard in public service to work towards my loans being forgiven. My thought was to consolidate direct loans to my unsubsidized loans, which is a very difficult process to navigate. I spoke with a customer service agent recently who confused me more than I already was. Now I have to start all over with my XXXX and this is such a disaster. I really need help because I did not make all those payments with the intentions of starting over.

Consumer Complaint: This complaint is in regards to the Department of Education 's and FedLoan Servicing 's mishandling of the PSLF program under the Limited Waiver. Numerous borrowers pursuing PSLF are attempting to remove an in-school deferment via the " School Related Deferment Waiver Form '' ( Records Code : XXXX ; Version Date : XX/XX/2010 ). Some, but not all, FedLoan Servicing employees are rejecting these submitted forms, perhaps at the direction of the Department of Education, informing borrowers that the form only applies to pre-consolidation Direct loans. Nowhere on the form, which has not been updated in almost 12 years, does it state that. This is therefore causing a considerable amount of confusion, XXXX and frustration among borrowers. Borrowers do not trust the Department of Education and FedLoan Servicing because of outdated forms ; inefficient processes ; and unclear, fabricated, and misapplied PSLF policies.

Consumer Complaint: I have student loans from Department of Ed and it is serviced by Fed Loan Servicing. Since completing my graduate degree, I've been working for public service employers in higher education, state, and federal agencies. Thus, I'm currently pursuing the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ) program. However, when I begin my career back in XXXX and contacted Department of Ed and Fed Loan Servicing for information about repayment options, I was not provided with information about PSLF, even though I was working for a qualifying employer. When I contacted Fed Loan Servicing again in XXXX, after postdoc and securing an employment, I was steered towards forbearance due to financial hardship and was not given accurate information about income-driven repayment plans and PSLF. Had I known about PSLF and income-driven repayment plans back in XXXX, I would have taken advantage of the program and begin the process. Thus, I lost 14 eligible payments towards the 120 total needed for PSLF in XXXX. This was due to Department of Ed and Fed Loan Servicing not provide information, providing inaccurate information, and steering me towards forbearance without providing me with information of other options such as PSLF.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2022, I was told that my loan qualified for TEPSLF. If I could send in the employee certification, I could have my loans wiped out. Now I am told that I actually have four loans (? ) and will only get part of them wiped out. The others will, so they now say, be ineligible for PSLF or TEPSLF because I am not a teacher currently and still owe money on these two. I held on the phone for one hour and forty minutes today to talk to these people. Anyone with a life does not have that kind of time to spend on hold. They know they have us and don't have to be polite. After I'd held for an hour, The recording said I had four minutes to talk to an agent, and then, someone picked up and put me right back on hold! Then I just held some more. This is just soul crushing! I have been given conflicting information every time I call these people, and I am full of despair after being told that they would be wiped out only to now be told they won't. I only teach four classes online now, and I that is not full time, per my employer, so I am going to be paying the Income-based repayment until the wonderfully final day that I die, which at least I can say will be a place and time that Fedloans can not come hound me. My payments to XXXX XXXX were not showing up for years, and now for some reason they are. I am just tired of being jerked around by these people. I've made XXXX payments, but they somehow do not count, and I'm just ready to give up. I've never defaulted or missed a payment since I started paying back.

Consumer Complaint: I recently read an article in XXXX XXXX about a student-loan company receiving a XXXX penalty for misleading borrowers. As I read, I felt as though this article could have been written about me and my lender, AES. I am an educated teacher with a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have been trying for almost XXXX ( XXXX ) years to have my loans forgiven. I work at a XXXX XXXX school and have paid my school loans religiously for over 20 years! I have applied for loan forgiveness repeatedly only to get reasons that seem to be very convoluted and/or purposefully misleading. Correspondences from AES were not very user-friendly, relevant, or helpful. Frankly, I feel as though they were just sending form letters that employees are trained to send to discourage borrowers from moving forward. Which is exactly what happened to me. I have called and spoken with AES on numerous occasions yet no viable direction was ever given to assist me in the loan forgiveness process. According to the article mentioned above, the bureau states, 'borrowers with XXXX XXXX, in particular, were mislead about XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ' This is exactly how I feel given my summary of loans that all indicate XXXX loans. Please see attachments for : - Summary of all loans since XXXX - Letter from lender combining my loans - XXXX denial letters dated XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX Order of Events : XXXX - Attended XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX Received BS in Management with a Concentration in Marketing and a Minor in Economics XXXX - Attended Graduate at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, NY - XXXX XXXX XXXX ( MST ) in Teaching, Grades XXXX XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX XXXX XXXX combined my XXXX XXXX into single account, for a combined total of {$39000.00}. XX/XX/XXXX - Applied for forgiveness as I worked at a XXXX XXXX school for more than XXXX consecutive years. Received Denial Letter # XXXX from AES ( see attachment dated XX/XX/XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX - Spoke with an AES XXXX, confirmed reason for Denial Letter # XXXX, resent application using the fax number given to me by the loan company rep. Confirmation on my end states the fax went through. Received Denial Letter # XXXX from AES ( see attachment dated XX/XX/XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX - Received Denial Letter # XXXX from AES ( see attachment dated XX/XX/XXXX ). I still have no idea what this excuse even means! XX/XX/XXXX - After being discouraged and given the run-around ( but before being sent Denial Letter # XXXX ), I sent the summary of events letter directly to AES ( please see attachment ) ... then I gave up! I thank you in advance for your attention to my complaint. I agree with the above mentioned article in that they, 'do not believe that these deceptions from loan companies are unique ' to the company mentioned, XXXX XXXX The most frustrating part is that I very recently spoke with someone from an outside company who walked me through the forgiveness process step by step. Now, with only about {$1500.00} left in loans, I have been forgiven. The whole process seems criminal to me, especially since reading this article. I whole-heartedly believe I too have been severely deceived for almost a decade.

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is about FedLoan Servicing ( myfedlaon.org ). I am a student borrower. My complaint is that they are not properly responding to my email questions or phone calls. The email responses I get are boilerplate information from their public announcements and do not directly address my questions. Also, the phone number their emails refer my to ( XXXX ) operates on a perpetual hold ( I have waited up to XXXX minutes, twice ). The context of my questions is, why was only a portion of my student loans dismissed under my Public Service Loan Forgiveness application? Are there steps I need to take to get the rest of my loan balance dismissed? What do they need from me? Please help.

Consumer Complaint: I was advised in XXXX by FedLoan Servicing that if I continued having financial hardship for 5 years straight that my loan would be forgiven. In XXXX, I received notice that my student loans had been added to a class action lawsuit out of California and I had to complete necessary paperwork to continue to be added to this suit. I did that. Then I was advised that my schools where closed and I would be forgiven for that reason. ( XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) Then I received a message from FedLoan Servicing stating that I had been awarded to have my student loans forgiven as of the XX/XX/XXXX class action lawsuit and that the loans would be removed with 12weeks. Well, it has been over two years and still nothing has been done. Now, when I call FedLoan Servicing, depending on who I speak to they tell me, that my loan has been pushed out into some status until XXXX to give them time to get it cleared off my credit and another person will say they are not responsible for the clearing that the Department of Education is responsible for clearing this debt. No one is taking care of the matter and all I am being told is lies and deferments. I am a veteran, I went through XXXX years of XXXX XXXX and inability to XXXX XXXX XXXX because of issues from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that still no one wants to own up to. To have this is just an insult to injury. I have taken every step that I was asked to do and I expect FedLoan Servicing and Department of Education to do the same. Thankfully, nothing has ever been reported that I was in default on my loans but to still have this debt over my head from institutions that I can not even have/ show credit of education from is not fair. It is as if I spent all these years in school only to have no proof other than XXXX in debt that was to be removed and still has not been removed.

Consumer Complaint: My student loans have been serviced by a XXXX XXXX of loan services, but all have been under PHEAA. I graduated school in XXXX and was in forbearance for most of the recession. When the Income Driven Repayment options were made available in XXXX, I contacted my loan servicer under PHEAA to transition into it. They refused to assist, citing their special status as an agency of the State of Pennsylvania. We went back and forth on this for several years, where they would try to collect and I would refer them back to the earlier conversation about the IDR and that no payments could be made unless they recalculate the then capitalizing interest. PHEAA never handled the paperwork correctly and I refused to comply, because I understood an offhanded assent on my part would result in being formally placed under an " agreement '' that would allow them to capitalize the erroneously charged interest. Their communication stopped in XXXX. Now, on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, PHEAA has begun the default process for the account without making any effort to contact me in the past 8 years. None. They now have capitalized all the interest and the claimed amount has shot up to {$130000.00}!!! After all this time, now, with all the massive economic challenges Americans are facing, that's when this company is attempting to maximize its profits through deceptive accounting that is founded on more than a decade of fraudulent misrepresentation.
