Consumer Complaint: I have been paying American Education Services for a private loan I took out in 2007 with XXXX XXXX. I have been paying on this loan for several years. The original balance was just over {$7000.00} and the interest for this loan has more than doubled the current principle. I will never get this loan paid off at this rate. This past week they increased the interest rate to over XXXX %. I am hoping that someone can investigate this and stop this horrible price gouging. I have been late, but only late more than 30 days at one time. All of these years I have been paying, I have paid before the 30 day mark and have consistently paid this loan. Please help me and others who have the same thing happening. Please stop American Education Services from continuing to do this.

Consumer Complaint: FedLoan, the loaning agency previously held onto my student loans which I had paid in full, and on XX/XX/XXXX I requested a {$10000.00} refund which I hoped to get forgiven through the Student Loan Forgiveness plan. They initially told me it would take 2-4 weeks to get my loan back. Shortly after this window passed I called again and was told I was mistakenly told wrong information and that it would *actually* take 6-8 weeks. I asked for a hard deadline of when I should be expecting this refund to process since they had already passed the window initially given and I wanted to be able to plan financially. They told me objectively I should see this processed no later than the end of XXXX. The end of XXXX has come and this still never processed. They have now stated they no longer handle student loans and to reach out to the assigned company, but no company has been assigned to handle my loans. I do not know if this refund is still going to happen at this point but I want to know what to expect so I can plan accordingly. I am upset that FedLoan lied to me, not once, but twice, about this planned time frame for getting the refund as I am now unable to even apply for the forgiveness since it has been blocked by the Texas judge.

Consumer Complaint: My federal student loans were with FedLoan and were recently forgiven under XXXX. At the beginning of XXXX, I received an email from FedLoan indicating that I was eligible for a refund for payments made during the COVID pandemic. When I called to request the refund, they said they would submit it. I called back in XXXX and they confirmed the request had been submitted in XXXX. The week of XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with them again because I still had not received the refund checks. They told me the refunds were taking several months because of the large number of refunds due to borrowers, and they confirmed I was due a refund in the amount of {$18000.00}. They advised me to call back in XXXX. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX and was told everything was in process but that the delays persisted in getting the refunds out to borrowers. When I called today to check again, I discovered FedLoan no longer exists. I understand you have successfully helped others unstick this process and was advised to contact you. Please advise.

Consumer Complaint: My loans were initially with American Education services. The loans defaulted back in XXXX of XXXX which changed the lender from American education services to pheea. I had reached out to both lenders to resolve my status to good standing to change the late payment status that is being reported to the credit bureaus. Both Pheea and AES are saying that the other company is reporting to the credit bureaus. I had filed a dispute with aes and they verified that the information on my account is accurate. The balance on my credit shows a XXXX balance but yet I have a late payment status reporting for each month. Neither company is taking responsibility, and no one can change the status because pheea had mentioned that the loans status will switch back to aes after the loan forgiveness bill is passed by the Biden administration. so, they advised me to wait until then. I do not believe that the loans should still appear on my credit anymore since the loans were from XXXX and XXXX. I would like the loans removed from my credit history.

Consumer Complaint: a letter from PHEAA, which is the parent company of Fedloan sent a check for {$25.00} and a letter to my house. The letter was not addressed to me, but to a different individual. The rationale for the letter was due to the many problems that Fedloan had and the mistakes that Fedloan made while servicing the Direct Loan. The overall message from the letter was " we made lots of mistakes, here is {$25.00} for the trouble ''. I was never sent this letter nor the {$25.00} from Fedloan and I have dealt with many mistakes and servicing errors from Fedloan. I called Fedloan and was told that Fedloan would only send this to accounts that they felt deserved the letter and {$25.00}. That is not how policies and programs work. I have called Fedloan to inquire about the status of {$25.00} check and letter for myself, and I have also written Fedloan through the internal e-mail contact us system. Fedloan wrote me back that they are internally researching the issue and will contact me in the future. That is just one more LIE to the Fedloan pile. So, now I am utilizing CPFB to force Fedloan to respond to my complaint.
