Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft. I never had a USAA account. If USAA is making the claim that I owe money or even had an account with them then I need the name of the person who is verifying the information. If there is no person verifying this account then the account needs to be removed as its obvious that verification, which is required, was not completed no did the event happen.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 ; I noted on my account a debit of {$100.00} ( transaction date : XX/XX/2023 ) paid to a merchant XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is a store I regularly shop at. I went over to the store to enquire why there was a charge of {$100.00} paid to them without me visiting the store on the said date to make a purchase. The store confirmed that I was neither there nor was there a transaction of that amount, made on that day on their cash register. I immediately called the bank on XX/XX/2023 to report fraud, for which the bank launched an investigation and also applied a provisional credit of {$100.00}. However, months later on XX/XX/2023, the bank reversed the provisional credit of {$100.00} citing that my report was not fraudulent. The bank claimed that I'd used my debit card at the POS ( point of sale - chip ). I requested that the bank provide documented evidence of their claims or investigation and to re-open the investigation. The bank has since failed to provide evidence of my use of the card on XX/XX/2023, and has failed to contact the merchant despite several requests for them to do so.

Consumer Complaint: On several occasions from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX. I have contacted USAA about my account XXXX Checking. I requested to have my wife removed from my account and tried to remove myself from her account. I explained that I am going through a divorce and my wife still has access to my account the only option they give is to close account which this would be difficult because I get my XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX pay. They will send an amendment signature card. I explained that my wife has refused to sign it. They can except a E-sign if you add a product but refuse to when you want to remove. This has caused my account to go into the negative and they send a letter that it can be sent as a charge off and my effect all other accounts. I told them the courts will not allow me to close accounts. I can remove a person. I had to put several stop payments and block everything on my account until I can figure out how to contact all the direct deposit which could take up to 60 days for the change. I have made the change with SS to this account. The company needs to change this. I add my daughter without a problem. USAA shouldnt wait until the account becomes overdrawn then say you have to pay this. They have been told about this situation many of times and no change. When you take off overdraft it takes XXXX business days to go into effect meantime as a card holder you can swipe all day long. This is causing me not to be able to make payments on other bills. I refuse to loss my money because a bank refuses to remove a person. Why this is so difficult for USAA to do so. I am the primary account holder this is my money not USAA. I feel like I am stuck because the bank refuses to resolve the problem. I also explained if there is any funds removed from my account without my authorization who will be responsible no answer. USAA should be responsible for all overdraft fees, reimbursement of funds. I also asked for any policys that they have to support this type of action nothing. This is not a communist country the bank needs to have something in place for situations like this. Divorce decree doesnt happen over night. Currently I have everything blocked to my account to prevent any further financial burdens I have to block and unblock my card each time I need to use it. I have told the representative if they can put the conversation on file if they did or didnt I wouldnt know. Just to close my accounts is a simple way for USAA not for the consumer. I should not be held accountable for others actions. They tell you thank you for your service but treat you like your from a communist country. This is sad if anyone else has experienced this with USAA. They know what the request was for.

Consumer Complaint: Have had many issues with XXXX and USAA investigation into concerns. It seems retaliatory in nature as ever since Ive raised concerns with CFPB, USAAs imposing stricter timelines and actions on me. Was just notified electronically that a credit reversal will take place on XXXX thats literally only 5 business days. It takes longer to receive the credit and Im not confident in the investigation. In any case, 5 business days is not sufficient to plan {$760.00} debit in todays economy. Whats with the inconsistency in timeline for credit reversals. I plan to seek outside assistance as Im confident that not all credits are reversed with 5 days notice- in fact I can prove this.
