Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Fee problem
Consumer Complaint: I had a checking account with sun trust bank location in XXXX Georgia, during the period of time that this account was active sun trust bank on a monthly basis took from my account because of overdraft fees in excess of XXXX in one month. during this same period I was charged an overdraft fee and if the overdraft was not paid I would be charged an additional {$72.00} from my account. In one month a deposit was made from the veterans administration in the amount of {$1700.00} and after Sun Trust withdrew and deducted there fees I was only left XXXX at which time the account was closed. During the time this account was in existed which was less than one year, Sun Trust withdrew over {$3500.00} in fees. When I attempted to bring this issue to the branch manager i was always given an explanation that they were entitled to charged my account these fees. A brief discription of these charges were, 1 }, carry a XXXX balance ; 2 }, having a negative balance, 3 ], not paying overdraft fees within a certain period, 4 ), maintaining fees for an open account. these are some of explanation however its not limited to those listed above. As mention above the straw that broke the camel back was when my compensation payment from the veterans administration was received and i received less than 50 %,

Consumer Complaint: During Covid, our mortgage company at the time, SunTrust, allowed us to put our loan into forbearance due to hardship. They sent a letter indicating there would be no fees or penalties while in forbearance. We went into the process with approx $ XXXX left on the loan. At the end of the year long forbearance, we agreed to move the unpaid $ XXXX to the back of the loan and pay in a lump sum at the end of the loan. Our next mortgage statement at the end of forbearance showed we owed $ XXXX. Apparently they added the $ XXXX to the end of the loan and didn't take into consideration that it should be removed from the main balance... not just added to the end of the total as if we borrowed another $ XXXX. I contacted SunTrust to ask them to explain how the amount was added on as if borrowed additional funds when the initial forbearance paperwork stated that I would not incur fees or penalties. I went to the XXXX. During the entire time and every phone call, SunTrust would not give me a calculation on where they got the added on funds ( without removing them from the original balance ) and even hung up on me when I pushed for calculations.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX I lost my job and fell behind on my payments, I contacted the mortgage company for help and they wouldn't work with me personally. I kept calling them until finally they offered me a modification, but then denied it because I didn't have the income. In XXXX I received assistance through XXXX with the XXXX Keep Your Home Ca. the paid XXXX towards my mortgage payment as soon as I was employed I contacted XXXX to revisit the modification again I was denied and the only option given has been a short sale and was told there wasnt enough income., I appealed a still the same option short sale. In XXXX of XXXX I began renting a room out in my home to gain additional income I secured the lease and showed the payments from the rental through my bank statements again the option presented was the short sale. So I appealed again in XXXX of XXXX this has been the ongoing process each year and each time the only option I qualify for is the short sale. In XXXX of XXXX I applied short sale option given each time I would call to speak with my home preservation agent she would only state my title wasnt clear I knew that XXXX had a XXXX for 5 years to erase the monies paid that was cleared late XXXX so again I apply and was given the short sale option In XXXX I took another full time job giving me XXXX jobs and I applied and was given the same option of a short sale, I attempted bankruptcy to pay the arrears and current monthly payments since my mortgage would be the only debt I have it was a payment of $ 2800 monthly and my other expenses proven to be a lot and in early XXXX it was dismissed in an effort to save my home XXXX XXXX loans reached out to me stating they work with XXXX to work on my modification and after me sending monthly payments totaling XXXX and to no avail they wanted another payment I never heard from them or from XXXX I applied and received the short sale option. I then tested positive for XXXX XXXX in XXXX of XXXX and did not return to my other full time job I applied was given a short sale option and facing foreclosure. Just recently applied again twice within XXXX with the same option. I just want to remain in my home I havent qualified for any other programs to help me remain in my home maybe putting those arrears on the back end and allowing me to pay my monthly payment definitely since the rates have drop taking my home or giving it away in a short sale is not the best option for me. I work a full time job a part time job and have a renter I have the income to remaining my house short sale is not an option I do not wish to become part of the homeless population my credit score is not the best and I need a chance to prove that Im able to make my papyments and to pay them on time.

Consumer Complaint: SunTrust denied a deposit from my XXXX federal account in the amount of XXXX. This deposit was made in order to cover a XXXX charge that was pending. SunTrust denied the deposit, and charged me XXXX overdraft fee for the XXXX charge. I later learned that they were having online banking issues due to the merger with BB & T. I called customer service multiple times and no one would help. I was transferred to a supervisor who hung up on me. I should not have to pay for their system errors. If they has accepted my XXXX deposit there would have never been an overdraft fee. I now have two XXXX overdraft fees, leaving my account XXXX cent. I have been a customer for XXXX plus years, and this is what they do to their loyal customers. This is systematic Classism! I am a single mom working 3 jobs just to care for my family 's " basic needs and they can get away with stealing my money. My daughter needs XXXX, but I'm sure no-one cares, that XXXX SunTrust stole could pay for it. We obviously are not rich enough for anyone to care.

Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon, I am forced to file a complaint against SunTrust /Truist ; XXXX XXXX because I was denied removal of the PMI from my mortgage. Once I realized my payoff had dropped below 78 % of the original loan amount and that the PMI had not been automatically removed. I currently stand at 76.6 % of the original loan. On XX/XX/2021 I sent a fax to the SunTrust 's PMI department concerning this issue. On XX/XX/2021 I contacted SunTrust by phone and spoke with a representative. I was informed that the request to have my PMI had been denied and that I was sent a letter concerning same. I informed the rep at that time that I had not received a response and I requested that she email the letter to me ; which she did. According to the date of the letter, SunTrust responded on XX/XX/XXXX with a denial letter. The reason I was given as to why my claim was denied was " because they had no way of discovering the value of my property ''. However the denial letter suggest that i purchase a BPO which was not a guarantee that my PMI would be removed. It was revealed that SunTrust representative, XXXX XXXX, was responsible for denying the PMI removal request. My request to speak with Ms. XXXX was met with " There is no way for you to contact her ". This culminates into what we are corresponding about today. My only recourse was to file this complaint in hopes that your office could compel them to adhere to Federal Law. Thank you for your time and attention. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
