Consumer Complaint: Over the past month, BB & T and Sun Trust Banks have merged to form Truist. Truist bought or obtained XX/XX/XXXX of conventional mortgages in the process. Truist then forced everyone to switch to their online platform and app in order to make payments for all mortgages, because they have no brick and mortar stores ( only online ). The Truist App and the online Truist platform do not accept online payments because the designs are flawed. I have tried to submit payments online and via the app every day since XX/XX/XXXX and the website and app just crash. The only way to submit payment is to call and wait hours on hold before you can talk to a person and submit payment. On the phone call, the tech support state that they know about the issues, that they receive calls all day about the app and website not working, and yet they have no resolution. Truist should not be allowed to buy and service loans if they are unable to provide a platform to help customers pay, track payments, and get the help they need. They certainly should not be allowed to charge anyone a late payment penalty or report missed payments to the credit bureaus if they don't have a way to make payments. Truist should be shut down immediately.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: Truist charged me overdraft fees of {$100.00} total on XXXX separate purchases for which I had money in my account to cover. When I called, they claimed that other charges ( which did not even show as pending in my account until today, XX/XX/21, when I received my paycheck ) were responsible. However, I was not charged for these purchases but instead charged for the XXXX purchases for which I had money. I keep my own balance of my account as well as checking my balance daily online to ensure I do not overdraft. Truist only offered to refund {$72.00} of the {$100.00} overdraft fees I was charged as they said their system would not approve more and no one could override it.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased my first home in XX/XX/XXXX. My loan was sold to Suntrust now Truist in XX/XX/XXXX. Since our mortgage was sold to Suntrust, they have been collecting too much escrow from us ( they say we owe more property tax than we do, even though that amount is set more than a year in advance and published online for us and them and the local government to see ). When they first paid our biannual property tax ( XX/XX/XXXX ), they acknowledged this and sent us a {$220.00} credit. I didnt mind so much because I figured Id be getting that amount every six months due to overcollection. The second biannual property tax payment comes around ( XX/XX/XXXX ), they not only dont send us the credit, they increased our monthly payment claiming that we will owe more property tax in XXXX so they will need to keep that credit plus collect more. Meanwhile, our property tax is staying flat in XXXX, which they well know and can see publicly online. So they are now holding our money XXXX from us. I appealed the escrow amount in XX/XX/XXXX. They researched my appeal and denied it. Finally, after realizing there was no recourse here, ( end of XXXX ) I requested they delete my escrow account altogether. I signed the necessary paperwork to delete the escrow account and sent it back XX/XX/XXXX. I have called them seven times since then, waiting on hold at least half an hour each time. No one can give me any information about where my request stands. Here is the worst part for the CFPB to consider - the escrow deletion department does not accept calls or communications from customers NOR from other XXXX departments. There is no communication allowed with that department except written notes from other suntrust departments. After my sixth call, a customer service representative raised my concern for research and said someone would contact me in XXXX hours. It has been 6 days since then and no one has contacted me. I filed a formal complaint after that, and have heard nothing. Finally, today I got an automatic notification that my escrow amount due increased AGAIN. It seems illegal that there is no recourse and no relevant department to communicate with. They are collecting far more than the necessary two months cushion and not giving me any option to get that back.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a previous complaint ( ID XXXX ) concerning Suntrust taking XXXX out of our excrow for forced supplemental flood insurance. I had called more than XXXX times to get specifics and resolve the issue and I took out a supplemental flood policy and provided proof of the additional coverage even though our condo associations master flood policy provides 100 % coverage. I called XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX ( uploaded supplemental policy ), XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I was told I needed $ XXXX in supplemental coverage, then I didn't needed it, then I needed it and then they took money out ( along with montly letters ). In XXXX I filed complaint with CFPB and then Suntrust sent me a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that there was an error, we had sufficient flood insurance through our master policy and the money taken from escrow would be refunded ( which it was ). XXXX XXXX, I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that stated we needed $ XXXX in supplemental insurance and that they had taken out forced insurance and took money from escrow a second time! I called on XXXX and this was confirmed. Suntrust had a copy of the letter on file dated XX/XX/XXXX saying the first time was an error and yet they still sent me another letter and took money from escrow! I was told this would be sent to research. I now also got an email that my escrow is being reviewed and I suspect I will soon be notified that my monthly mortgage amount is going up. This is beyond rediculous. Clearly there is a computer glitch somewhere and no one is actually addressing this problem with a permanent solution.
