Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with the interest rate
Consumer Complaint: Within the last four monthly payment cycles, the interest charged for my auto loan has varied up to 80 %. The first and second monthly payment were made on the same dates for the same amount and the interest charged increased 49 %. The third monthly payment increased an additional 24 % from the second monthly payment interest charged. The only thing customer service could tell me was that the interest charged varies month to month and could not provide an answer as to why the interest increased when the first and second payments were made the same day for the same amount when the principal balance obviously decreased. It would seem that Truist is charging can not be explained.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: We received a letter in XXXX of XXXX stating that Suntrust Bank was closing all of our accounts - checking, savings, and credit card. We had about XXXX weeks to move our money to another bank, and lost access to the online banking. Our credit cards were shut off, and did not work. We made sure that the credit card had been fully paid off as well. We had no access to verify anything, and the credit card has been reporting as " closed '' with a {$0.00} balance since XXXX on our credit reports. Since Truist bank took over, they are reporting we have over an {$8000.00} balance on the credit card, and collectors continue to call. How is this possible when our cards were shut off, we had no access, and all of our accounts ( including credit cards ) were closed? We can even see on our checking statements where we paid off the credit card XXXX final time. Why was this shown as closed and paid off for {$0.00} for YEARS, and now that Truist has been 'created ', this has popped up? XXXX has a horrendous phone call system - often with 2+ hour waits, and it is impossible to get in touch with anyone there.

Issue: Problem getting a card or closing an account
Subissue: Trouble closing card
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2022, I opened a Secured Card Savings Account with Truist Bank in XXXX XXXX, TX. Account # XXXX. I deposited {$400.00} to the card. Subsequently, I decided to close the account and in XXXX went in person to the local bank to do so. The teller advised there was no balance found and closed my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a statement that there was still a {$400.00} balance on the card. I went back to the bank. The teller advised that there was now a balance, but because she had previously closed the account, it now needed approval to cash out the funds. I have visited the bank twice since then, called many times, and can not find anyone who will let me have my {$400.00}. The last time I went to the bank office, the teller would not speak with me until I paid an account fee of {$20.00}. Today I spoke with XXXX different bank employees, and just kept being transferred. I received a statement on XX/XX/XXXX still showing the {$400.00} balance, and a new statement dated XX/XX/XXXX showing XXXX balance. I am afraid that the bank is planning on keeping my money.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Fees charged for closing account
Consumer Complaint: After bringing my a/c balance to XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I called Truist on XX/XX/XXXX & asked them to close my a/c. They said it would be closed in 3 - 5 days. I am now finding out on XX/XX/XXXX, they never closed my account when I had asked, and as a result, they must have charged me some kind of {$0.00} balance monthly fee over the last few months - because today I received a collection letter indicating I owe them {$44.00}, including a " {$30.00} charge-off account fee ''. This is utter nonsense and a complete scam!! Apparently, they did close the account, but not until XXXX, XXXX, after charging me fees. Since the account is now closed, they've shut of the online access so I can't get online to see the activity, print statements, or see detail of the fees they charged. I was never mailed any statements. I called customer service at XXXX & the woman I spoke to said she wasn't able to see my account activity & gave me a different # to call ( XXXX ). In fact, I have now tried 3 different # 's ( including XXXX ) multiple times over the past several days, and every single time, after waiting for a period, they play a message : " all agents are busy, leave a message, and we will call you back within 24 hours ''. I have left 4 messages and no one has called back yet. I had a {$0.00} balance, made no attempts to withdraw money after bringing the balance to {$0.00}, and requested the account closed within 1 week after the balance was at {$0.00}. THE ACCOUNT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED WHEN I ORIGINALLY REQUESTED IN XXXX, XXXX, AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CHARGED ANY FEES. THIS SITUATION IS EITHER A DELIBERATE ATTEMPT BY THEM TO SCAM ME OUT OF MONEY FOR XXXX SERVICE, OR IS A RESULT OF THEIR TOTAL INCOMPETENCE. EITHER WAY, IT IS WRONG. I want the {$44.00} in fees they've charged to be credited back to my account to bring it back to a {$0.00} balance, and they need to cease & desist all collection action immediately. Their letter also threatens to " report information about my account to specialty check reporting agencies ''. If they ruin my perfect credit and banking history due to their incompetence and scum-bag business tactics, they will be getting sued for the damages caused. In summary : Truist is incompetent and didn't close my account when requested, improperly charged me fees for nothing, sent me a threatening collection notice, possibly has filed an adverse report with " specialty check reporting agencies '' causing me damage, has not answered the phone # 's they've provided for customer assistance, and has wasted a bunch of my time. I'm sure I'm not the only one dealing with their incompetence or deliberate attempts to charge people fees for nothing. THEY DESERVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.

Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX I submitted a request to Truist Bank regarding two transaction by a merchant that should not have been charged to my account and to invesitge and obtain a refund for both changes totalling {$560.00}. The Claim # XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX as part of Trust process I was asked to complete a document and proivde my supporting documentation. I proivde supporting documentation including warranty documents showing AC unit was still covered under warranty, along with email from my home builder and email from merchant company stating they responded to Truist request to refund the funds. However over the past 45 days I continure to get the run around by this bank. I have requested 5 escalations to have someone from the bank to contact me regarding this issue and as of today, I have not recieved a resposne. My most recentcall on XX/XX/22 on a recorded line I was treated with such disrespect, the rep stated that I should just have the merchant refund the money instead of going through the bank. If that is the case why offer the service, why do I need to bank here. It was made clear to me, that Truist have no intent on crediting funds back to my account dispute the overhelming documentaiton and email communicaiton from the merchant stating the funds should be returned.
