Consumer Complaint: On Friday, XX/XX/2023, I made a mobile deposit into my Truist checking account for {$840.00}. This was a payroll check originating at XXXX XXXX. Truist has held on to this deposit ever since. This is over 11 days. They said the reason was it is a new account.

Consumer Complaint: Deposited a cashiers check and a 7 day business hood was put on it. Per federal government a cashiers check should not be placed on hood in excess of two days since the money is deemed available. The bank never called to verify funds as the number to the financial institution was on check. They have caused great financial distress by making me late with rent. This was a cashiers check not a personal check they labeled the check as doubtful collection when I have never had any fraudulent activity on my account since opening my account they labeled me and held my funds for no apparent reason and still not understands no the excessive hood on a CASHIERS CHECK

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I applied for PMI deletion at Truist bank at the end of XX/XX/XXXX. I got the house on XX/XX/XXXX with a 5 % downpayment and 2.5 % rate of interest with zero points. prices have been sky rocketed after that and I have almost twice as much equity in my house. Also I have added a extra master suite to the house almost 265sqft which by itself increases the value by 20 %. They declined the request to cancel my PMI and sent a letter saying that I can have a BPO ( Broker Price Opinion ) option done for {$150.00}. I sent a check worth {$150.00} to Truist for the BPO appraisal. It took them 45 days after following up everyday via phone calls to set up an agent to appraise my house. the agent appraised my house on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Truist to check status on my PMI deletion request and they mentioned that the agent is taking forever and its " processing '' at the moment. I reached back out to the agent and shockingly she revealed that her appraisal/valuation was rejected by Truist and they want to adjust/lower the valuation. ( that way they avoid my PMI deletion and me as a customer keep paying them for years to come ). So basically I have been paying the PMI for 3 months because of these systematic delays Truist is creating. And I do not even have the valuation report for which I paid {$150.00} and no call back or responses from Truist.

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Can't close your account

Consumer Complaint: I went to my bank Truist on XX/XX/ and asked that my business 's checking and savings account be closed. I was told it may not happen until the next day until a check cleared, which was written on the same bank. The next day came and the bank lady called me at an inopportune time to talk to me for some reason. I could not talk and told her to close the account again! The next week I see that the account had some drafts against it for overdraft fees and I went to the bank again and told them the account should have been closed and those drafts would have gone back to the vendor and they would have notified me but instead the bank paid them and charged me a fee for which they said would be reversed. The bank could not figure out how to reverse the {$36.00} overdraft fee. I sent my husband to the bank with the cash to pay the XXXX 's that were not supposed to be paid but alas, they were, and for getting the account closed. They still have not closed the account and other drafts have come through and the bank paid them instead of denying them as the account should be closed. I have since contacted all agencies that have that account and changed the XXXX 's. The practice of keeping an account open when told to close is should be illegal. Please advise.

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Funds not received from closed account

Consumer Complaint: My account was closed in XXXX. When I called to get my funds back they required me to provide notarized receipts from my old bank, which is ridiculous because my account is already closed and my old bank is across the country.

Issue: Opening an account

Subissue: Unable to open an account

Consumer Complaint: It was deeply concerning and alarming that a bank would deny me the opportunity to open an account based on my XXXX XXXXXXXX. Unfortunately, discrimination based on race is still prevalent in society, and it was completely unacceptable. It was appalling to imagine that i would have been subjected to such hurtful language and denied a basic service simply because of their XXXX XXXX. , its a clear violation of both ethical and legal standards. Denying me access to banking services based on my race is illegal under federal law, and Truist bank engaged in such discriminatory practices & should face serious legal consequences. Moreover, being called racial slurs is an act of racism that is causing me deep emotional pain and distress. I feel hurt, angry, and disappointed that i was treated unfairly and differently than other consumers. It was the bank 's management XXXX XXXX that called me out of my name using the word ( XXXX ) and had me removed by authorities unlawfully. A police report was conducted and was documented about the event of discrimination. Additionally, Im seeking support from organizations that specialize in fighting against XXXX discrimination. Im hurt and distraught from this event and dont know if I can recover

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Problem with fees

Consumer Complaint: Since late last year I have had trouble with the incompetent grifters at Truist Bank. First they refused to pay a promotional amount as contracted, Finally paid after CFPB was contacted. Second billed the account erroneously for over {$3000.00} and took 3 months to semi-remediate it. CFPB has marked the matter closed when really it isn't. The bank capriciously removed {$120.00} from my checking account by means of a double charge. When caught they did not return it to the checking account it was stolen from. They listed it as a credit to the credit card account. I after waiting for the bank to correct the latest in a long line of mistakes, sent the credit to my checking account and now have been billed {$10.00} for taking MY MONEY and putting it where it should correctly be.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: This is not related to the payment process from our side. No option matches the issue we're having with Truist Bank. Hurricane Ian caused severe damage to our home. We have worked with XXXX XXXX and a contractor to get everything paid for and rebuilt. XXXX XXXX has been wonderful working through the process. We finally have drywall up in all of our rooms. The problem is that Truist is holding our money from XXXX XXXX. We have tried in good faith to follow their process of sending them the checks and adjustment forms. We have also tried to get an initial inspection done so they can believe that we are rebuilding our home and release the money so we can pay our obligations. They change the dates of the inspection requests every time we contact them and have canceled the inspections saying we did not return a voicemail call from the inspector. We had no missed calls or messages on the day in question XX/XX/23 ( why would someone only try on one day ). Our initial online request for the initial inspection was on XX/XX/23 when they told us they would be holding our money from XXXX XXXX. We will have to stop rebuilding if they keep holding the money. They are currently holding about {$51000.00}. We still have more that will be coming from XXXX XXXX, and we feel like Truist, and the Insurance Claims Check people are taking unfair advantage of us while we are still trying to rebuild our lives.

Issue: False statements or representation

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXXXXXX XXXX I contacted Truist Bank to pay on an old collection I had forgotten about. After XXXX attempts to reach the recovery department I called customer service and they were able to patch me thru. They pulled up my account and agreed to a settlement. I gave them my pay by check information and was given a confirmation number and told that I would receive receipt of payment and settlement offer letter to my email within one to two hours. I did not receive receipt of payment or settlement offer by end of day XX/XX/XXXX so I called back and was told it should be coming through. On XX/XX/XXXX I spoke to a representative in customer service because I could not reach the recovery department. This customer service agent told me that my debt had been sold to a 3rd party and that the recovery department would not have record and I would need to call the 3rd party agency. She gave me the phone number. I asked to speak to management as I had given my bank account information on Friday XX/XX/XXXX and received a confirmation code.
