Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Was not notified of investigation status or results

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX : I was a victim of identity theft through a theft of my XXXX and associated passcode and wallet. The phone and XXXX XXXX were used to make many unauthorized transactions ( approx {$6000.00} ). I notified XXXX XXXX within hours of the incident as well as providing a police report to the same effect. I also requested my account be closed as I no longer had the card or XXXX. The account was closed as requested. XXXX XXXX disputed the transactions and after an investigation found all fraudulent transactions to be truly fraudulent and did not hold me responsible. XX/XX/XXXX : However, several months later, I was notified of a delinquent account on my credit report in the amount of about {$100.00}. I contacted XXXX XXXX to dispute this report and informed that as a matter of course in reversing the fraudulent transactions, XXXX XXXX actually charged me a small percentage of each transaction due to their rewards program. I explained that I did not have access to these rewards as I lost the phone and closed the account ( I actually believe the thieves may have used those rewards too ) and that I should not be responsible for downstream effects of fraudulent activity, regardless of XXXX XXXX rewards program . They informed me they would open a dispute and I have had no resolution since. At the same time, I filed an identity theft dispute with TransUnion and XXXX ( the reporting agencies at this time ). They both opened investigations and apparently XXXX XXXX continued to verify the accuracy of the delinquent account. In early XX/XX/XXXX I paid the full balance XXXX XXXX alleged that I owe to a void their continued reporting, however I contest that any amount was ever owed. I have also attached the original dispute letter which includes my police report as well as my FTC Identity Theft Report.
