Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days
Consumer Complaint: I have already sent a letter addressing the inaccuracies and unknown items on my credit report, but unfortunately, I have not received any response even after 30 days. It feels like I'm being taken advantage of and my disputes are being ignored. According to Section 611 ( a ), if these items are not investigated within 30 days, they should be promptly removed from my credit report. Since it has been over 30 days, I expect these accounts to be updated immediately. If not, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action due to the stress this situation has caused me. Additionally, my information was also affected by the XXXX, XXXX, and Transunion data breach, which raises concerns about the security of my personal data.

Consumer Complaint: I have lodged disputes regarding a specific account with TransUnion repeatedly over the past 2 1/2 months. However, following each purported " investigation, '' the outcome consistently upholds the accuracy of the reported information. It is crucial to underscore that TransUnion is obligated to report only precise and truthful information. Enclosed with this formal complaint are supporting documents for verification. It is undeniably unreasonable for me, as a consumer, to expend my time rectifying errors made by one company through the intervention of another. Therefore, I express gratitude to the CFPB for their time and dedication in holding companies like TransUnion accountable for their actions.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against the credit bureaus for their failure to remove a fraudulent account from my credit reports, despite my repeated requests and provision of necessary documentation. This account was opened without my knowledge or consent and is a clear case of identity theft. Details of the Fraudulent Account : Creditor : XXXXXXXX XXXX Account Number : XXXX Balance : {$290.00} On XX/XX/2023, I sent a letter via USPS Certified Mail to the credit bureaus, requesting a thorough investigation and the removal of this fraudulent account. Unfortunately, my request was not only ignored, but I also faced outright refusal to remove this account from my credit file. This inaction on their part is not only distressing but also a violation of my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and the Consumer Protection Act. Upon discovering this unauthorized account, I immediately filed an identity theft report with the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) and placed a fraud alert on my credit files. Despite these proactive measures, the fraudulent account continues to be a blemish on my credit report, negatively impacting my financial standing and credit health. The inaction of the credit bureaus in this matter is unacceptable and unjust. Therefore, I am seeking the intervention of the CFPB to ensure that a proper investigation is conducted and the fraudulent account is promptly removed from my credit records. Enclosed with this letter are copies of my previous correspondence with the credit bureaus, the identity theft report filed with the FTC, and other relevant documents supporting my claim. I trust that the CFPB will address this grievance with the seriousness it deserves and assist me in rectifying my credit report. I look forward to a prompt and favorable resolution of this issue. Thank you for your attention and assistance in this matter.
