Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Established account in XXXX, 2020. Used online banking service ( " OBS '' ) from another institution to schedule payments, which are due by the XXXX of the month, however as OBS did not have ACH information paper checks would be mailed 5 business days prior to address from periodic statements. System worked well for three months whereby payments were received in timely manner. In XXXX of 2020, creditor claimed payment was not received until the XXXX - 1 day late - and imposed a {$27.00} late fee. Submitted dispute to OBS who attempted to contact creditor via two different " customer service '' numbers, without success ( stated wait times in excess of 2 hours ). Same issue occurred in XXXX, except OBS mailed payment so it would be received by the XXXX given XX/XX/2020 was a Sunday ( non-business day ). Creditor claimed payment was not received until the XXXX and imposed a {$38.00} late fee. Again contacted OBS who stated they had continue to make multiple attempts, unsuccessfully, to contact creditor, and asked that I attempt to contact the creditor directly. Submitted online dispute with creditor for the two late payments and asked via online system for name and number of contact for OBS to call and/or for process/instructions for OBS to make electronic payments. Creditor agreed to waive the {$38.00} late fee as a " one-time courtesy '', yet response to multiple requests for contact name/number and/or additional information was simply to contact the creditor via published numbers. Currently on hold with said number for past 60+ minutes waiting to speak with someone.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/20 I order a treadmill form XXXX, Order Number : XXXX, for {$3700.00}. The terms of purchase through XXXX XXXX financing partner, TD Retail Card Services, were " 0 % APR for 12 Months with Equal Payments. '' I proceeded to set up these automatic payments on XX/XX/20, however : Despite ( 1 ) setting up 12 monthly payments on TD 's own payment portal, XXXX : XXXX, and ( 2 ) receiving verification of the payment account ( XXXX Checking Acct ending in XXXX ), and ( 3 ) that account having more than adequate funds to service the debt, TD 's system failed to draw the amount from the payment account, and instead started allocating NSF charges and rapacious interest. I was in fact confused by the entire process since I had also entered my XXXX card information on XXXX during the purchase process, about which an email was written by me to my assistant on XX/XX/20. She was subsequently assured by TD that everything was set up correctly. Due to COVID and the related business closures via Executive Order, I have been away from my office in XXXX XXXX XXXX until just a few days ago, when I became aware via mail that accumulated over the past three months, that TD has not been properly processing the payments -- which I not only set up correctly but there own online system validated upon my doing so. After calling TD to straighten this out today, TD is now trying to collect nearly {$4000.00} from me despite claiming the principal is {$2800.00}. I offered to cut a check today for the principal, and not a penny more, which was not only rejected by TD 's collection representative, but met with the threat of ruining my credit if I didn't pay the entire amount they are claiming is due. I reached the rep, along with my assistant on the line, today at XXXX. She identified herself as XXXX and claimed her employee ID is XXXX. I am including screenshots from TD 's payment portal illustrating my enrollment, bank statements indicating a sufficient balance ( thereby invalidating the NSF claim and associated fees ), as well as TD 's statements.

Consumer Complaint: We purchased merchandise and financed it for 0 % interest for 60 months. The credit card statement reads, in relevant part If you make only the minimum payment each period, you will pay more in interest. This language is required by regulation. However, it is false in this case as the interest will the same if we pay 60 equal payments or pay more with any of the payments. The language almost induced us to pay more than the minimum, which of course would make the cost to the bank less for supporting their 60 month no interest offer. In this situation the bank should add language that does not mislead people to paying off no interest loans early. Bank is TD Bank , N.A . Credit card is XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Looking at purchasing a XXXX for ~ {$3000.00} via their website. They offered financing via TD Bank. The terms seemed good so I decided to finance it. Received a letter that I was denied credit. The same letter listed my credit score as XXXX out of XXXX. I checked my credit to see if something was amiss. It wasn't. The company clearly checked my credit. I followed up with TD Bank. They then sent another letter saying they were unable to verify my identity. I have worked for over 25 years, own two homes, and recently paid off a vehicle. There is no reason to deny my credit. The offer of financing seems like a scam. Please assist.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was sent a listing for a beach house rental For the week of XXXX by someone name XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I was told that if I booked the rental through XXXX that I would have to pay extra fees but if I paid via XXXX, that I would not have to pay any transaction fees. I had access to XXXX through my TD bank account app so I was under the assumption that my transaction would be protected by my banking company. I submitted two payments, one was a down payment for {$1000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, and the next was a final payment after I received the lock box number, property address, full contract/rental agreement and an invoice ; this payment was for {$450.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I showed up to the property on XX/XX/XXXX and it had already been rented out. I immediately called TD bank who transferred me to the XXXX department to file a fraud alert as the transaction that I had submitted to XXXX XXXX, actually went through to a XXXX XXXX. Unfortunately XXXX said I was not protected by TD bank fraud, and XXXX is not responsible for fraudulent payments or scams. They said I will need to file a police complaint instead.
