Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Following me filing a billing dispute for duplicate payments my monthly payment was attempted to be withdrawn from a saved account I had not selected for payment. After the second attempt I confirmed with my credit union that the payment scheduled on XX/XX/XXXX was never presented for payment as instructed using the customer portal. On XX/XX/XXXX I phoned Synchrony to find out why the provisional credit was reversed from my account and the agent informed me that my account had been closed due to returned payments. I used this account daily ; I paid the balance off monthly. After filing one claim for a debit which was processed twice my payment instructions were ignored and payments were attempted to be withdrawn from another account. I have never missed a payment, carried large monthly balance which was paid off monthly. I believe there is a problem with your portal not retaining customer selections on which account to withdraw funds from. Instead of calling a loyal customer you close my account without notice leaving me embarrassed as I am told my transaction is declined. I still have no information on the claim I filed or indication what the final outcome was.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I opened a charge card XX/XX/2024 mainly to accrue and use rewards feature. I made large furniture purchases and immediately paid off the balance as intended. The company would report any time I charged a balance no matter the day of month not only when statement closed causing my credit utilization to increase thus deducting points from my credit score and then company would fail to report when payment was made and balance reset to XXXX so I continued to have points deducted from my credit score and not replenished. Company then closed my account without my knowledge or permission and claimed that I called in to request this. After multiple calls with supervisors I was told there was nothing that could be done and that if wanted the account re opened I would have to apply again for new credit and thus having more points deducted from my credit score for opening a new line of credit. I originally lost XXXX point opening the account, XXXX points within the few months of using the account and then account was abruptly closed. I suspect that since I wasnt a customer who ever carried a balance intentionally and built up a great amount of rewards in turn, that they didnt see value in supporting a client like myself thus finding a way to end the business relationship.

Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I used an XXXX store card through synchrony bank to purchase XXXX things between XXXX of XXXX and XXXX of XXXX totaling XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. The balance was paid off on XX/XX/XXXX after the first XXXX purchases and as of XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX the balance was paid off again. The account wasn't used by our family again. We started using a budgeting app and immediately found out that the card was still taking monthly payments from my personal bank account. I started an investigation with the Synchrony fraud department XXXX separate times only to have them reopen the account and issue another card each time. the third time I requested all the statements for the life of the account, and I received it XX/XX/XXXX. after going through the statements i realized it was in fact an account that i opened but since XXXX of XXXX someone has been making purchases using my card that I was unaware of. the current balance of the card has exceeded the line of credit, and the Synchrony bank XXXX department will not take action. their excuse is the account is more than XXXX XXXX XXXX, the statements were never returned, and the automatic payments were always on time. I have put an XXXX hold on synchrony bank to stop withdrawing payments and synchrony has not done anything to stop this from happening.
