Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, As I am attempting to purchase my first home I began monitoring my credit. I obtained my 2nd monthly updated credit report from XXXX XXXX. I observed an account for the first time on my credit report. A weird and unidentified account that was never on my credit report posted on all three agencies i.e. : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX. My credit reports all showing a history dating back to XXXX with 2 months late for this 1st time. A XXXX XXXX XXXX account that had never reported on my credit. I immediately contacted XXXX XXXX to dispute this fraud account as it was not my account. I then immediately contacted the company SYNCB as it is listed on my credit reports and later learned their company name is Synchrony Bank. In a heated argument with it's agents, as several of their agents forcefully attempted to obtain my real personal current details to match with their records. I was reluctant to provide them my real information as they had already confirmed non of the details they shared matched my details. However, I was placed under duress as this company 's agents would not assist unless I divulge my personal details. XXXX in particular, an agent for SYNCB assured me it was only to assure this account did not belong to me and that non of my information would be saved. However, after providing her with my DOB, email, and address. She then stated she had updated that account with my details against my wishes and authority. Furious I yelled at her as I did not authorize this and was miss lead by this company representative demanding her to delete my details, she refused, I ended the call. My spouse and I called back recording the call for my protection to complain about that representative and to have my real personal details deleted from this account. After much argument and fighting with their company representatives they finally connected the call with the fraud department. My spouse explained to the fraud department agent that we are recording this call and needed his approval, which he did agree and authorize on the recording. I informed him what customer service agent XXXX dishonestly did, and my spouse requested my personal information removed from that account for my protection. The Fraud agent stated to understand the situation and assured me that my details will not be updated on that account. The fraud agent proceeded to file a fraud dispute of the account after he confirmed that the original account information details did not match any of my personal real information details. In addition, he confirmed what his other agents have stated that the account was paid in full, as we were also told this, but he did not understand who or why was it even reported after 7 years. My spouse then asked for answers to a series of question. However, the fraud agent just kept saying he did not know and did not provide us with answers. When the fraud agent had requested my personal details for verification my spouse stepped asked him several question to assure it was only to confirm that the account was not mine. As heard on the recording he confirmed that none of my information was going to be saved on that account nor updated to my real details. My spouse also requested a copy of the filed fraud dispute and to send a copy of the fraud letter to the credit bureaus as heard in the recording. However, I never recieved our copy of the fraud letter. I never heard back from this company fraud department. However, on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Synchrony bank that my phone number, address, and other real personal information details was updated and saved on this account. The company and its associates misrepresented vital information to leur me to divulge my personal details so as to make it appear as if this account is mine when it is not. I was completely mislead. Again I have the call recorded with full awareness and authorization of the fraud dept agent.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a XXXX brand dryer from Lowe 's and it was delivered on XX/XX/XXXX. The sensors are damaged and when I tried to dry a load of towels, the sensors left the towels wet after 40 minutes. I then had to dry them again on high for an hour before they were completely dry. I called Lowes and they refused to help me, even thought i had the dryer for less than 30 days, and directed me to the manufacturer. This is a brand new dryer that hasn't worked from the first day they installed it. I have been emailing the manufacturer and they kept promising to send someone out to look at the dryer but no one has showed up. On XX/XX/2023, I disputed the charge on Lowe 's credit card carrier, Synchrony Bank. They agreed that the dryer charge should be disputed based on the fact that the dryer hasn't worked since it was installed by Lowes. Synchrony Bank kept the dispute open and kept saying they had " 60 days '' to resolve this dispute but refused to give me a resolution date. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted them through the message portal and said by law they had 90 days from XX/XX/XXXX to close the dispute. Today I received a letter from Synchrony Bank saying they closed the dispute because " the dryer had been delivered ''. I called Synchrony Bank and they reopened the dispute based on the evidence I sent them and I guess we start all over now and it's 90 days from today? Lowe 's refuses to come and pick up the dryer, XXXX won't stand behind their warranty, and now they closed the dispute and made me reopen it to purposed push the date out further. I have a feeling this is a sneaky tactic they do to push it out beyond the warranty date. I have attached the email string with the manufacturer showing the case number and promising to send someone to look at the dryer. I've also attached the message string from Synchrony, and finally I've attached the letter I just received stating they are closing the dispute because the dryer was delivered.

Consumer Complaint: I became aware of this account when I was in college and pulled my credit report for a new apartment. That was the XXXX time I reported this account as fraud and filed a dispute. I have also spoken with the original creditor both Belk and Syncrony to notify them that I did not open this account and it had to be some sort of fraud activity. That was also when I locked my credit report. Since then over the years I have disputed, and called numerous times to get this taken care of and resolved. Now I have been receiving numerous calls from debt collection numbers hassling me to pay these funds that I never received in the first place. I will now be taking this to litigation

Consumer Complaint: I contacted the company and told them I dont owe {$1500.00}. Since XXXX they increased my owed amount over {$500.00}. I refuse to pay any of it because theyre making false claims and they dont even have proof that the debt is mine, theyre not the original creditor. I get mail saying Im commuting a crime and theyre taking me to court. I want this to stop. They dont have my wet signature. They never provided me with proof of anything and on top of that I have been a victim of a nationally declared disaster. I have been homeless for the past 3 years. Jobless for longer than that.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I had a box of my personal checks stolen by my USPS carrier and had to close my checking account. I went to Synchrony Bank website and updated my bank information. I should've known better! I changed banking information before when I switched to XXXX XXXX and the same thing happened. They don't actually change your banking info, so that it defaults and you get charged a late fee. Fool me once... anyway... this second time, I got charged a late fee even though I updated my information on the same day I got my new checking account. I saw that they debited my account for my regularly scheduled payment of XXXX plus the late fee of {$30.00}. I was XXXX. Trying to call this sham of a company is pointless. I was told that they were refunding me on XX/XX/23, in the amount of {$100.00} as they took more than my payment WITHOUT MY CONSENT. It's now XXXX weeks later and I have yet to get that refund. My account reflects the balance due of {$700.00} which is still the balance owed on the account after the {$100.00} was taken without my consent which tells me that they DID NOT ever refund my money and LIED to me. I have called twice today XX/XX/23, hung up on the first time and the second time, I was told that the late fee was waived and they they DO update bank information " if it is correct '' ( this call is recorded so you can verify this is what was said to me by the XXXX agent ''. Yes, they waived the late fee after I called and was incensed. I am now on the phone as I type this and I was informed that a check for {$30.00}, not {$100.00} was issued and they had me verify the address which is accurate. All I get is runaround from this company. I am currently waiting on another " supervisor '' but I doubt that I will see any resolution. I have closed my account due to their shady practices and would like to see some actual resolution that is satisfactory to me. I do have " informed delivery '' via USPS and I have not ever seen any mail to me from this company.
