Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: For 8+ years I have banked with PNC as our business banker ( with checking, credit cards, and savings accounts ) as well a another business and personal savings account. On XX/XX/XXXX without notice PNC made the decision to close all accounts associated with me. My business partner who happened to be discussing utilizing some of their products found out by chance that our account had been flagged and when asked for an explanation was transferred to someone who said it was a decision the bank had made and would offer no further explanation. At this time our clients were trying to submit payments into our accounts and had their payments returned. We had no opportunity to use our business account or accept payments any further as the account was closed. At the time I checked my other business and personal savings accounts and saw that everything looked normal... It was not until XX/XX/XXXX that I received a text alert that my account was closed and my Balance zero. I immediately went into my local branch where they manager explained all accounts associated to me had been closed, I could not access my funds and there was no explanation why. I was given case numbers for all accounts and called on each only to be told the standard script " the bank had made the decision to no longer do business with me and did not need to explain why '' my remaining balance in my accounts would not be available until they processed all payments and then would send me a check in the mail. I then went back to branch manager where we have had a 8 year relationship to get further answers and explained the entire process felt discriminatory and I would be considering legal action. He promised to do his best to see if i could get my funds released and would escalate my complaint for further action on Friday XXXX I spoke with XXXX XXXX at XXXX a case manager who again offered no additional explanation for my account closers and said " you cant get your money because you can't '' I have been prevented from operating our businesses, had my money withheld, and given no explanation as to why this action has been taken against me. In 8 years of this banking relationship we have never had any questionable transactions or even requests for refunds. I am a business coach - I am extremely concerned about the reason for this decision and the impact it could have on my future banking as well my reputation with my clients. As an XXXX XXXX this seems like the highest form of discrimination and unjust client exclusion.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Fee problem

Consumer Complaint: In approximately XXXX, I opened a checking/debit account with Simple Bank XXXX I mostly used this account for easier ATM logistics, and would transfer money into it as needed, as a cash account. A few years ago, Simple was consolidated into BBVA. This resulted in no material change to the account. Last year, BBVA was consolidated into PNC. I have since opened a savings account with PNC, so now I have the cash account and the savings account. In XXXX of this year ( XX/XX/XXXX ), PNC started charging me a $ 7 monthly service charge, that I never agreed to. I received no correspondence that this service charge would begin. I noticed it when my cash account balance was {$0.00}. I have since deposited money into the account. The total amount of erroneous and unagreed upon service charges is {$32.00}.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: On Saturday, XX/XX/2022, I initiated an " INSTANT DEPOSIT '' from my XXXX TO my PNC JOINT Checking account, in the amount of {$86.00}. Between XXXX and PNC, I'm NOT getting ANY REAL answers or satisfactory resolutions. PNC on Saturday DID acknowledge an " issue '' with " 3rd Party payment applications platforms '' ; or some convenient XXXX like that. The issue was SUPPOSED to have been " resolved '' by now, and the FUNDS CREDITED. Really? I'm seeing NOTHING to that effect AT ALL. So the question is, WHERE IS THAT MONEY, and WHEN will it be CREDITED to our account? SOMEONE SOMEWHERE has that money, I'm convinced. Now, our checking account is running in the NEGATIVE, and one recurring debit card bill payment was DECLINED just TODAY for " insufficient funds ''. This would NOT have happened had that money been TIMELY CREDITED to our account. So what now? We have to incur FEES for insufficient funds when this issue is clearly NOT mine nor my husband 's FAULT?! We DON'T THINK SO! FIND THE MONEY AND CREDIT the same, PERIOD!

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Cashing a check

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/22 check # XXXX was made payable to XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX for XXXX for our monthly rent payment. This check was mailed on XX/XX/22 to XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, WI XXXX from our office building drop in locked was mail box. I received an email from XXXX XXXX asking/stating they had not received payment. We looked in the business online bank account and saw that a check was cashed on XX/XX/22. Digging further, we pulled up an image of the cancelled check and saw that the check had a different payee ( XXXX XXXX ) with a New Jersey address. The date of the check, the dollar amount and signature were the same as the original check. We decided to contact our bank representative as this was clearly fraud. We contacted him on XX/XX/22 and he notified us to contact the fraud department. We immediately contacted them and they emailed an affidavit to complete. This was completed and returned to them via email on XX/XX/22 and then were given a case number. We also contacted our local police department and filed a victim statement of fraud. The detectives research found that the fraudulent check was deposited at a XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX in XXXX, NJ. The detective shared his findings with PNC bank. We have been told by PNC bank that this is a counterfeit check, however PNC entered it as an altered check and this may be why it was held up. She admitted that the bank made the error. This was on XX/XX/22. That day we then filed a complaint with the OCC. A PNC bank representative called the office the next day and twice since then to only tell us that they are still investigating the issue. This has been ongoing since XX/XX/22, more than enough time to have investigating the issue as the police detective got a confirmation of check fraud within weeks. 6 months of receiving the same answer from the bank.

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: My husband and I recently applied for a home equity line of credit with PNC bank. My husband is XXXX XXXX military serving for over 18 years. I have submitted my pay stubs as well as my husbands pay stubs upon request. We both have exceptional credit over XXXX. I received a request back from the lender asking me to have my husband write a statement attesting he will be in the military for another 3 years. I feel this is discriminatory to our military because I am not being asked if I will have a job for the next 3 years because know one knows if they will retain employment at their jobs. My husband being asked to provide a letter about his military service and his plans for 3 years should not be a basis for obtaining a loan or part of the underwriting process. Military service members pay is a combination of monthly pay, housing allowance, food, and at times cost of living adjustment. To deny a service member a loan due to their future in the military is not right as that is not asked of a civilian employee. This lending practice is particularly unfair to our service members and I am complaining not only for the protection of my husbands rights but that of other men and woman in the armed forces.

Consumer Complaint: I was scammed notive the bank on XXXX XXXX on said situation was told i have to file a police report we contacted the bank on XX/XX/XXXX to be told yes we had to file a police report and to come up to the bank close out the account and reopen another account and that the bank would start a investigation, and that I wouldnt be responsible for paying back the dispute because I was scammed. On XX/XX/XXXX I called the bank to find out how the investigation was going to find out nothing had been investigated. So on XX/XX/XXXX we went up to the local bank to have them start a investigation because my whole work check was used to pay back the bank. I have called the fraud department to be told the account has been put on hold nothing can come in and nothing can go out. I dont have issues paying the money back and was told I could make payment arrangements but for a month now they have taking my money. I have had no money for a month I have lost my home because I couldnt pay the rent, I am staying with my mom who is on a fixed income. I went to the bank today to find out that they finished the investigation and that the bank was closing my account and mailing a check to me. Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I spoke to PNC after emailing applying for mortgage online. I called because I ended up having someone who sounded like they were calling from a foreign country call me about the loan. Eventually I spoke with XXXX XXXX, Mortgage Loan Officer, XXXX, XXXX. I explained everything that had happened with the current home Im in ( Flooding, FEMA instructions, eta ). Explained that the last time I applied I was approved for a conventional loan ( current house is fha ). He stated that I needed all this personal info to get a solid qualifying letter. I complete everything only to receive a FHA letter with requirements I cant meet. I emailed an asked why the letter wasnt conventional, no response. I called and he said that it was developed with the intention to have the the house Im in sold. I told him the issue with the home and why I needed to move first, reminded him and he said this is the process. So I said I wasted my time and risked my credit score dropping for nothing. He didnt seem to care at all. Now Im back to looking for overly expensive rentals and a lower credit score.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed

Consumer Complaint: PNC Bank sent me a notice on XX/XX/23 saying that my account was in the negative however on my ledger I had {$700.00} in the account they claim they paid online fees, charges rather because I did not have enough money to cover. That is not true. On a second statement they sent me I had plenty of money now they are holding my credits and put a hold on my account and refused to issue the credit to my account and claim that I am minus {$500.00}. This is not possible because three days later I checked out money from the ATM in it for {$120.00} which I wouldnt of been able to do if I did not have the money in the account. They refuse to give me the money that is owed to me in my account and they closed it. I will be contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX however would like this documented with your company please contact them because theyre saying the dispute will be 90 days and it plain as day to see that that overage on my account is not possible
