Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, Nelnet received a payment of {$18000.00} as part of a consolidation with another student loan servicer ( XXXX ). On XX/XX/2022, despite having a XXXX XXXX remaining on my student loans, Nelnet debited {$200.00} from my XXXX checking account. I called in several times after that and was told that the overpayment would be refunded to my XXXX checking account. When I had not received the payment by XX/XX/XXXX, I called in and was told that the payment had been forwarded to XXXX. I have checked multiple times with XXXX and with XXXX, which assisted with the loan consolidation. Neither company has any record of receiving any payment from Nelnet. Nelnet is unwilling to assist me further and is telling me that the money was sent. As such, Nelnet either lost or stole my {$200.00}. Nelnet has failed to provide any explanation except that they are investigating. They have been " investigating '' for months with seemingly making no progress on resolution.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I have disputed these student loans with the credit bureaus and Nelnet. These student loans have late payments attached to them that are inaccurate. The student loans have been being marked as late during the pandemic when there has been no payments due during the pandemic. I have been disputing this with the bureaus and nelnet for three months and it has been coming back verified with no explanation. Nelnet knows that there has been no payments due during the pandemic they refuse to resolve the issue and this is causing detriment to my financial state. These accounts are also reporting inaccurately and differently across all three bureaus.

Consumer Complaint: The Federal Loan service provider Nelnet has not reported accurate information on my credit profile regarding my student loans, and has impacted my ability to secure housing. I am currently homeless due to Nelnet 's negligence in reporting fair, timely, and accurate information according to the FCRA. As of XX/XX/2023, my student loan balance has been paid in full in the amount of XXXX, XXXX. Nelnet is no longer a servicer of this account and therefore should delete this account from my credit profile. Nelnet has failed to report updated account information in which my account appears to be delinquent.
