Consumer Complaint: Recently my student loans were bought by Nelnet from Great Lakes. They told me interest starts again in XXXX. However, I am a student and am trying to get payments deferred. I tried to make an account but the website says unable to make an online account. I tried resetting my username and password ( in case the account transferred over ) and it says it sent me an email but won't tell me what email it was sent to so I never received anything. I attempted to call the customer service line within the stated hours on the website, and it keeps telling me there is a 30-minute wait, followed by its 'out of hours ' then forces an end call. I have called them at least 5 times between XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX. This is either a predatory action to make more money due to interest by making the process for customers overly complicated and confusing. Or this is straight-up negligence and this company should not be in the finance field.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX - My Auto-pay is set up. The Amount is " Locked '' to be the Standard payback ( 10 years Amortization ) Their explanation of the payback amount mentions details on payback, one of which is " make an Extra Payment '' - outside of this simple mention of that option there is no where on the web-site to find this adjustment nor how to make this adjustment. I want to send an email asking but they post that they are super backed up so do not expect a timely reply. I want to call- well, I live overseas so this is difficult though I will try. The point is that I should NOT have to call for this information.

Consumer Complaint: I had emailed NelNet on their website before XX/XX/2023 to request a refund on my student loans during the pandemic. I didnt receive an email back or phone call. So I called today was on hold for 2 hours and 17mins just for them to tell me that the request for the refund ended XX/XX/2023. I mentioned that I had initially requested that on email before the deadline and they were not able to help me. The reason why I emailed because of the fact I had to wait on the phone that long and I cant do that during work hours. My email that I sent should count for them to initiate a refund.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I was a victim of a fraud company that stole a large sum of money from me that led to my filing a XXXX XXXX bankruptcy in XX/XX/XXXX which was completed in XX/XX/XXXX. My XXXX XXXX loan was not included in this bankruptcy as I was able to work in my chosen career and currently am which makes student loans ineligible for any bankruptcy inclusion. In XXXX, the loan servicer was informed of the completed bankruptcy at which point they cancelled my auto debit and switched me to manual monthly payments and stated I had to submit the completion paperwork for the XXXX XXXX bankruptcy which I did. It was then reported on my credit report that this loan was included in the bankruptcy and was discharged and had no balance left. This is not accurate as I carried a balance and due amount the entire time that I paid every month. I disputed several times with no change as the loan servicer would claim this was " correct '' This caused my credit score to continuously yo-yo XXXX points constantly. This month the loan servicer has now stated to the credit bureau 's that my student loan is part of a XXXX XXXX bankruptcy and one bureau even shows it was delinquent in XXXX when the actual XXXX XXXX bankruptcy was filed. This is patently false. I have never missed a payment and was actually paying ahead and over the amount due at every payment. I also never filed a XXXX XXXX bankruptcy and it is literally illegal to file multiple bankruptcies in a row so is not possible to complete. They also placed my account in " admin forbearance '' without my permission which removes my monthly payment but continues to accrue interest on the loan. I again disputed these reports on my credit report with the loan servicer once again stating they were " correct '' and " true '' despite this not being the case. In one of my many conversations with the loan servicer I was told that they had asked the loan holder if they wanted to include my loan in the bankruptcy that was completed. I never asked them to do this. They did this without my permission or knowledge. I was also told that there is no time line for the loan holder to answer or respond to this question so at this point I could never receive an answer and this can continue indefinitely. I was told this was asked of the loan holder in XX/XX/XXXX and as of XX/XX/XXXX there was still no answer. I can not understand why this company would think they should ask permission to the loan holder to include a student loan in a bankruptcy that it clearly does not qualify for, with no time frame requirements for a response, while continuing to report inaccurate and incorrect information to the credit monitoring bureaus that negatively impact the actual person paying the student loan back, all without talking to or seeking permission of said person. At this point, I can only assume this is either gross negligence or intentional dishonesty with the continued wrong reports to the credit bureaus and refusal to correct the information.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I called Nelnet to request my student loan that I paid during Covid to be repaid back to me. Nelnet said they put in a request for my refund. On XX/XX/2023, I called back and was told no request had been submitted on my request, so Nelnet would submitted the first request for me. Now XX/XX/2023, almost 2 months after my request, no refund has been issued to me. I contacted Nelnet and was given a run around saying " we are working on it " Filed my first complaint with Consumer Financial Bureau Protection. The company responded " contact customer directly ''. However, their response letter was very vague, repeated the same thing " we are still working on it ''.
