Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my NFCU bank account had an authorized online transaction of {$5000.00} to an unknown and unauthorized account. I was informed by my bank that this transfer was sent from a device in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. I have been living in XXXX for the past 30 years and the last time I, or my husband was in the U.S. was in XXXX I mention my husband because we share devices as well as all our bank accounts, passwords etc. NFCU states that my husband ( of XXXX years and XXXX children ) should not have access to my account because it is not a joint account. I assume that this is their reason for denial. This is not a cause for denial if a proper investigation was done. I have the right to request information concerning the investigation and how they arrived to this conclusion, which has not been given. When I reported the fraud to my account in XXXX, I was told by the person from the fraud department that it was evident that my account had been compromised and that I would receive the amount in 10 days. There should be a phone recording. Apparently all my information on the account was changed to a fake email, name and telephone number. I was not alerted of this transaction because the email was replaced with an unknown one. How they got access to my information, security phrase and password makes me believe that a data breach occurred. I will send an appeal although NFCU informed me that it was useless. I kindly request any information and assistance that you can offer in order to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Navy Federal Credit Union used the consumers note to fund charges to the loan account number XXXX while retaining payments from the consumer. ( Ref.
