Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I thought that I was on automatic debit, but it was actually not set up. This resulted in a single late payment that dropped my credit score almost 100 points. I called and was told that automatic debits can not be set up over the phone, even though previously I was told it was, then I was told to set up online which I did but it still was not set up. Called again and was told it is not possible over the phone or online and I was sent a form to set up. This has been a back and forth with Navy Federal. The only resolution for their error was a suggestion to dispute with the credit bureaus. I explained that would do nothing if Navy Federal validates the late payment.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Consumer Complaint: I've paid off my car loan last week and I picked up the title release letter at the branch. The agent at the branch informed me that if I wanted the title same day, I can simply go to county tax office to pick it up by showing them the letter. So I went there waiting 2 hours to pick up my title and tax office clerk said I had to go to DMV. So I went to DMV and waited 3 hours to pick up my title and the DMV clerk said they are not able to issue the title because Navy Federal Credit Union is still showing up as lienholder in their system. So I called Navy Federal regarding this and they said I needed to wait 7-10 business days. They literally wasted 5 hours of my time because of misinformation. It's frustrating because I paid off the loan so I can sell the car and buy a new truck. If they informed me that I needed to wait 7-10 business days at the branch, I wouldn't have had problems. But they wasted 5 hours of my precious time ( I skipped work ) so I find this very frustrating.

Account Name- XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Pursuant to 15 USC 1666b A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open end consumer credit plan as late for any purpose, unless the creditor has adopted reasonable procedures designed to ensure that each periodic statement including the information required by section 1637 ( b ) of this title is mailed or delivered to the consumer not later than 21 days before the payment due date. I NEVER gave You, XXXX OR NAVY FEDERAL any written instruction to furnish any information on my consumer report which is a violation of 15 USC 1681b. XXXX has caused severe stress and XXXX due to the abusive and unfair practices. This account is also is be reported as late when I never was never late on any payments. NAVY FEDERAL even acknowledges the fact I wasn't late on any payments based on the fact they are reporting the account as never later/paid on time. NAVY FEDERAL/XXXX are obligated by law to delete all late payments associated with this account and report the account as Never late/paid as agreed across all 3 consumer reports. Both NAVY FEDERAL/XXXX, should be ashamed of themselves for ASSUMING this role and position to constantly commit fraud and cause harm to consumers!

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX I mailed a certified letter to Navy Federal, concerning an auto loan. The loan # XXXX. The car was involved in an accident, and the car was a total loss. The insurance company paid {$13000.00}, Now Navy Federal is saying that the balance of {$4000.00} is due on the loan. I disagree, I read 15 USC 1605 ( a ) ( 5 ) Determination of finance charge. According to this law it states in the finance charge there a Premium or other charge for any guarantee or insurance protecting the creditor against the obligor 's default or other credit loss. I want want Navy Federal to use the insurance included in my finance charge as stated in the law. As of today I have not had a written response from Navy Federal. I requested all correspondence to be in writing. I requested no adverse action be taken against me while this matter is being disputed. On XXXX XXXX, Navy Federal transferred {$320.00} from my checking account to put on the auto loan. That was adverse action taking money from my account. I have a right to get the questions answered that i asked. I still have not heard from Navy Federal.
