Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Consumer Complaint: My complaint is with regard to the service that I have received from XXXX when trying to get answers about the student loans that I have consolidated with them. In early XXXX I went to their website to review my loan balance. I noticed in the secure message area that I had an unread message. It was a letter that was sent in XX/XX/XXXX informing me that they had charged me the wrong interest rate ( 4.25 % ) when I refinanced with them and that I should have qualified for a lower rate ( 3.5 % ) and that they were going to correct this issue and credit me back the extra interest I paid. However, that rate that showed on the summary page of their website for my loan ( when I viewed it in XXXX ) still showed a 4.25 % interest rate. I then looked at my account details to see if they had credited me back any of the extra interest I paid. There were a number of entries both crediting and debiting principal and interest in the months of XXXX, XXXX and XXXX that I couldn't make heads or tails of. Thus, I called their service line to get this issues resolved. I spoke with a service rep who said that he would escalate the issue, get my rate fixed, get an explanation regarding my account history and call me back.. I waited two weeks and did not receive a call back. When I logged on to my account online the rate had been corrected but I could not see in my account details history where I had been credited the extra interest that I paid. Thus, I called them again and spoke with XXXX ( employee # XXXX ). He said he's submit the issues to be researched. I asked to speak with his manager ( XXXX ) but she was unavailable. He said she would call me back the next day. This never happened. I waited another two weeks and called back again. This time I spoke with XXXX, who also could not address my concerns or explain my account history. He too promised to research the issue and call me back. I have not heard from him either. Not once have they called me back regarding this matter or given me any explanation of the transactions that appear in my account history that don't make any sense whatsoever. I have no confidence that they have credited me back the extra interest I paid due to their error.

Consumer Complaint: I have a settlement with Navient that I am repaying. I started this repayment in XX/XX/2018. Navient has cashed 2 of the 4 checks I have sent them. The account is still accruing interest, even though it is not supposed to because it is a settlement. They are now reporting delinquency to the credit bureaus, even though they have 2 checks I have sent them but they have not cashed them. I have attempted to contact them and no one knows how to put me in touch with the post default payment department. They have told me they will have someone get into touch with me and that has not happened.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, I co-signed for a student loan for my son through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and began to make monthly payments on the loan. I also acquired loans for the years XXXX and XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with the same terms that repayment would commence within 60 days. Each loan had a 177 payments maturity terms. The Sallie Mae Corporation acquired the loan portfolio from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX some time after XXXX, and I began to send the monthly payments to Sallie Mae instead of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I continued to send the payments to Sallie Mae ( now Navient ) through XXXX. My son graduated from college in XXXX. At that time, ha assumed the loan payments, but was sporadic in making the payments. Because I was a co-signer, this was affecting my credit, so in XXXX, I decided to resume payment of the loans myself. In XXXX, while applying for a home loan, I discovered that apparently, Sallie Mae had given me " zero '' credit for my payments to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. This was determined by the balances stated on Residential Loan application, when comparing the remaining months of the loans and the loan balances. I have attempted to reconcile this situation with Navient for years with no success.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying my loans back faithfully for 4 years. Just the other day, XX/XX/28, I learned that the amount due is now MORE than the original amount borrowed! What the heck is this? I am aware that Navient, my current loan holder, has a lawsuit pending against it. I just learned this but I see why. This is outrageous. What kind of fine print " disclosure '' did they slide by me? Please do something about this. It is so wrong.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: From to XXXX to XXXX I was not enrolled in an income based repayment plan in a loan from Navient, which in my opinion would have been the optimal choice for repayment given my income situation during those years. There may have been better options than the aforementioned but I was steered towards deferment and during those years had a total of {$4600.00} of interest capitalized in the loan. I believe there was inadequate explanation on loan policies and repayment options. This financial strain has not only impacted my life, but now the lives of the people I provide for including my wife and daughter. On my current repayment plan I will have pay over {$20000.00} dollars on a loan in which the original borrowed amount was {$9900.00} to which I have already payed over {$8500.00}. I called Navient recently and asked for help to which the only answer I received was that I needed to pay off the loan.

This loan was granted a forbearance, XX/XX/XXXX, for XXXX months, until XX/XX/XXXX. However, Navient closed the account XX/XX/XXXX, with any reason. They have been unwilling to provided documentation after I requested it. They never stated why the account was closed while the loan was in forebearance.
