Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I refinanced my student loans through another company. Navient overpaid my the balance on some loans and underpaid others. When my monthly bill was due they took the normal autopay amount of {$1100.00} out of my account even though the outstanding balance on my loans was ~ {$300.00} ( and the net was even less ). They told me they would refund the balance within 72hrs. That was over a week ago and instead of satisfying the loans in full, each loan has a negative balance. Now Navient is sending me monthly billing reminders as if they are going to charge me again.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Hi, I kept getting contacted by this company claiming to be a loan servicing agency. They called themselves XXXX XXXX '. I talked to a guy named XXXX and a woman named XXXX. They went into great detail about my loans and how they could help. I ended up believing them and gave them all the information they would need including my social security number and bank routing and account number. They already pulled {$120.00} out of my account but I have canceled the request with my bank. What further steps would I need to take to ensure they can't take anymore, scam me, or move forward with identity fraud. This happened in XXXX, they claimed to be working with the Dept. of Ed. and their first withdraw from my account happened on XX/XX/XXXX.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: I received a loan from Sallie Mae to attend XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Before getting the loan I spoke to the school and advised them that I had XXXX and was not sure that I could attend as I would not be able to go to the campus very often or easily. XXXX XXXX assured me that this would not be an issue. The total loan amount I received from Sallie May totaled to around {$25000.00}. While attending the school I was also dealing with my medical condition and also working full-time. Without warning I was kicked out of the school from not being on the campus enough per week. I attempted to reconcile this with the school with no success. As I was paying on the student loan I noticed that none of the loan amount was ever refunded back to Sallie Mae. There were several courses, text books, and certification exam vouchers that I paid for with the loan, and I never received these materials from the school. I attempted to contact Sallie Mae to see if there was anything they could do with the school to have them return the remaining money for courses and materials that I did not use or receive and they would only advise me to contact the school. The loan servicer eventually changed to Navient. I kept repeating the process of attempting to have money returned to the loan servicer or for me to receive the materials and courses that I was not allowed to get from the school kicking me out. I still have not been able to get any progress on this. I don't feel I should have to pay the full loan amount for services or books/exam vouchers that I did not receive. Now, several years later Navient is not sending me any mail or anything regarding my student loan and am not able to make payments. It is listed as closed on my credit report but they are still reporting late payments on the account and it is still accuring interest.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: My husband and I are attempting to build a home. In the process of applying for a mortgage using my VA benefits, we were informed on XX/XX/XXXX that I did not qualify due to late payments reported by Navient. XX/XX/XXXX I applied for a year forbearance. I was a stay at home mom with no income and my husband was on XXXX XXXX for the XXXX. I spoke with someone over the phone and was assured I would have my forbearance started. XX/XX/XXXX I became pregnant with our second child and was put on bedrest intermittently due to a severe clotting disorder and hyperemesis. I again contacted Navient to verify that the forbearance was in effect and was told it was. I was very upset when I found out that XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX were reported as missed payments. I reached out to Navient 's customer advocate with the information and screenshots and was sent a template response stating to contact the individual consumer reporting agency to remove the information in question. I also discovered today that I do not have access to any documents from before XX/XX/XXXXon the Navient portal.

Consumer Complaint: I am a veteran of the MA XXXX XXXX XXXX. When I first enlisted in XX/XX/XXXX I had in my military contract that I was part of the XXXX 's student loan repayment program. From XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX, all military contracts had the student loan repayment program in them. Over the span of 4 years I have done my part. I have filled out correct forms and documentation needed for the XXXX AND my student loan company to take over my student loans. For the past 3 years I have not been sent any documentation from my student loan company that this is being taken care of. According to a phone call on XX/XX/XXXX my student loan debt is now with a collection agency that I had to ask the name and contact information for because I have not been sent any paperwork or information. Every time I contact my student loan company I get the same response. They need paperwork stating my dates of service in the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have sent over multiple forms, multiple times stating my dates of service and that I am entitled to have the XXXX pay off my loans because that is what was in my contract. I keep getting the runaround from my student loans. I know Navient ( formerly Sallie Mae ) is undergoing a class action lawsuit because of things they have done to their borrowers. They are not acting in favor of me, the borrower and creating obstacles for me. I have all documentation that they have requested. Including dates of military service and my military contract stating I have the XXXX 's student loan repayment program in my contract with the military. A veteran should not have to be struggling so hard with something like this. It is unforgivable.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: So I recertified my income driven repayment plan in XX/XX/XXXX as always. It was repaye. However, since I had gotten married in XX/XX/XXXX I was worried about my monthly payment increasing. After some research I decided that it would be best to switch my repayment plan from repaye to paye as I had planned on filing married but separate next year. So after 2 phone calls to navient I finally got the application completed that stated I want switch repayment plans ( which later a navient supervisor XXXX said I filled out perfect ). Almost a month goes by and my plan doesnt change. So I call in and the rep is dumbfounded. She talks to processing and they say I need to fill out another application but pick recalculate instead of change my repayment plan even tho I want to change my plan. I wasnt gon na do it just wait til recertification but then I figured Id do it and avoid the headache. So I do it and wait. In meantime tax deadline is coming so my wife and I file married but separate as planned. Check navient and still on the same repaye plan despite reps making note that I want switched to paye. So I call navient again and explain everything and the rep refuses to understand that I want to switch to paye so that my wifes income is not accounted into my monthly payment. She even put me on hold to look up the difference in the plans! Then tried to explain interest benefits and I got frustrated and asked for a supervisor. When finally transferred XXXX reviewed my case, said my initial change plan app should have been accepted. However since they mislead me and me fill out the recalculate app I had to yet again fill out a change my plan app. This XXXX me off because I was forced to use and upload a tax return that I did not want to yet, I wanted to switch plans with my single income then recertify under paye married but separate. I am still awaiting for the switch. Ridiculous. Also their staff should know the plans I shouldnt have to give references when I call. Amateur hour.

Consumer Complaint: Here 's a wish from a " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. '' Dear Madam or Sir at CFPB, Please help me relay this message to Mr XXXX, Mr XXXX, Mr. XXXX, Mr. XXXX, and Mr XXXX ( and others ), who are all intelligent human beings leading innovation and reform. I'm sure Mr XXXX XXXX would have agreed that with their combined IQs, surely they could help to figure something out. After all, what is a country if not a company, and its citizens if not employees sharing our patriotical and patriarchal leaders and billionaires values and goals! I am a long standing customer of SallieMae/NAVIENT Solutions ( XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX ), the XXXX XXXX XXXX : http : //www.navient.com. I'm trying to be more vocal on different platforms but moderators are constantly deleting my accounts and posts. I get there are rules and regulations, but where else can anyone be heard without being silenced or prosecuted? In efforts to drive their stock prices high and keep their shareholders happy, their qualified employees knowingly gave me and countless others bad advice. They placed me in forbearance 's and deferments when they should have offered me and others solutions such as IBR plans and PSLF. This did not help me whatsoever and now they are spamming my phone to get me on their side, and if they are left unchecked, " help '' me and others into more debt : 1.XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 2. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 3. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 4. XXXX XXXX XXXX 5. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX This company and its subsidiaries are operating in bad faith ( if you are religious ) and doing more harm than helping. I can be naive and hope that everyone is working hard to do and be their best, but how can anyone protest against a group of individuals that only answer to money, and backed with unlimited resources? Should I not encourage others to sell everything ( ETFs, mutual funds, etc.. ) that Navient and its subsidiaries are associated with to fix a broken system? If this was proposed to others in my situation, they would rally and help this company 's stocks to 0.000000000 to help this bully just as much as it's " helped '' them. Reform in the only language it understands, $ $ $!!! Please help me convey this message to other and all social media before it gets more out of control. Make an example of NAVIENT. Their shareholders and employees should feel the pain of their AMERICAN CITIZENS ( emotional distress and duress ) and ensure millenials don't die before their parents! Over dramatic? Mr XXXX resigned in protest for a reason. This is the greatest country on earth yet where is the Justice in all of this? If this country expects us to be the best, then to help everyone, this is what millions of American citizens in my situation would call the ULTIMATE PUBLIC SERVICE AND LOAN FORGIVENESS ( PSLF ) program. The BEST for EVERYONE, but at the end of the day we want more MONEY, not justice, fairness or inequality. " Hippocratic school : " Practice two things in your dealings with disease : either help or do not harm.. '' - I would rather you help, because one good deed rewards another! In fact, this can help spread an important message of helping 3 other people, and passing it on, instead of saying ... Thank you!

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: As a parent, I owe approximately {$52.00}, XXXX on a parent loan I took out for my daughter .Each month - well before the due date - I have consistently paid {$100.00} over the XXXX balance and interest due and each month I have instructed Sallie Mae and now Navient as the successor-in-interest- in writing to apply the additional {$100.00} to pay down the principal. Navient has consistently ignored my written instructions and applied the additional {$100.00} either to to the next month 's payment, or to interest rather than principa, l thus illegally exacting additional interest on the existing principal due. In addition, Navient has regularly sent me notices purporting to inform me that my payments are late, notwithstanding my bank statements that show the date of receipt and deposit well before the due date and despite my having sent the check with instructions through the U.S. Mail. ( I believe that Navient is trying to force me and other consumers to remit payment on line rather than by mail to reduce its overhead ) Representatives of Navient have been utterly non-responsive to my complaints and denied the applicability of the mail box rule. The evidence suggests that Navient 's conduct -multiplied my millions of similarly-situated individuals such as me - is engaged in consumer fraud on a massive scale.
