Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have an obviously fraudulent loan that was taken out in my name. Through the course of a year Navient has refused to make right the situation despite hours of discussion, police reports, affidavits, and missing documentation. I requested the loan origination documentation which lacked several key pieces of information. I then requested chain of custody, and it has never been provided. I have been constantly harassed with robo calls, spent countless hours on the phone and have received threatening letters from this company. They could not provide satisfactory reasons why my fraud claim was not found in my favor. They repeatedly requested the same documents over and over while taking months to respond. All the while their debt collection team would respond daily about my account. I said in writing multiple times I did not want further communication with the debt collection team, they ignored me. This company is unprofessional at best.

I am done wrong and financially robbed of my new payment. They lied and never got back to me. Also I think I am paying interest incorrectly. Indeed to have this research

Consumer Complaint: I graduated from college in XXXX. I submit an application for a private student loan consolidation to Sallie Mae in XXXX, who was eventually taken over by Navient. The total amount was {$33000.00}. I recently contact Navient for information in regards to my original loan documents. The only documents that I am able to obtain from the company is a private student loan consolidation application. Navient is unable to provide me with any type of promissory note that shows that I accepted the terms of the consolidation nor can they provide any proof that the original loans were actually paid off. The reason that I contacted Navient for this information is based on the balance of my loan decreasing very little over a 12 year repayment time frame. The original disbursement amount showing within the Navient website is {$33000.00}. I made payments between XXXX - current totaling {$33000.00}. The payments were allocating as the following : Principal - {$13000.00}, Interest - {$20000.00}, Fees - {$300.00}. My current remaining balance is still {$21000.00}. If my payments continue as they have over the past decade, I will end up paying around triple the amount of my original loan. I became unemployed between XXXX - XXXX due to being employed by a company that was involved with the XXXX XXXX situation. During the time frame of XXXX-XXXX when I was unemployed, I was only ever offered forbearances and now options to assist in payment plans of any kind. I had minimal income, however I always attempted to maintain my history with my student loan, however my intentions were not always realistic when collecting only unemployment funds for nearly 2 years. In light of the new information in regards to Navient/Sallie Mae targeting student loan borrowers to pay forbearances to maximize profits via interest payments has convinced me to file this complaint. Not only do I believe that I am a victim of predatory lending, I also believe that there is no documentation to back up that I even agreed to the terms within the loan application as I never signed any type of promissory note or a promise to pay in agreement with terms. I believe that all practices involved in my example listed have been predatory and not in the best interest of the borrower, however I put my trust into the company for 12 years. I have paid over {$33000.00} total and my balance has decreased by {$12000.00}. I still show an existing balance that I have yet to pay of over {$21000.00}. This is a perfect example of predatory lending, inappropriate allocation of payments and not housing appropriate documents for a consumer lending agreement. I have finally reached a point where I feel a complaint and legal action is in the near future as this is clearly an example of unfair practices and not in the best interest of me, the consumer.

Consumer Complaint: My Student loan has been taken over by Navient Department and they have been lying about everything. They never explained me about forbearance and they keep putting forbearance on my account by making false allegations that they explain me what forbearance is. They never explain me about Forbearance and also, they never explained me that my interest would be capitalized. They also, falsely reporting to credit bureau about my late payments because of which I have bad credit. When I asked them to send any letters or records, they asked me to get subpoenaed and they always talk in threatening way and told me that they will report to credit agencies. When I asked them to open an investigation, they never did, they asked me to get my lawyer every time I asked any clarifications. Once time I wanted to pay off their loan by taking another loan, but they refused to take my payments and then put Forbearance again, because they wanted to collect interest on my loan fraudulently. I need immediate help as I am feeling depressed because of their behaviors and my personal life being affected badly.

Consumer Complaint: The interest rate was crazily increased to 11 %. I don't have control of the co-signer 's credit score. Therefore, I want to remove the co-signer. I sent a request to Navient to remove the co-signer but my request was rejected by Navient. Navient stated that I did not make a minimum 12 payments and I did not submit proof of income. See attachments. I counted more than 12 payments and sent a recent " pay stub ''. See attached invoice, I operate my own business overseas.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying on a student loan for over a decade and my balance is more than the amount first borrowed. Although during the time of repayments I had periods of unemployment, I have made payments while employed. I have all intentions of repayments but I have not made a dent on the balance. This was my first and only student loan and I was not very well versed. I do not believe I was fully informed of the repayment options nor was I ever alerted on renewal notifications on by payment options. When I review my account with the servicing company ( Navient, the loan originated with Salli May ), the amount applied to the loan principal has been little as XXXX cents at times. I just feel that I'm paying a " Loan Shark '', since my balance is more now then the original amount. I have worked for non-profit organizations, public state organizations and higher education of over ten years. I asked about loan forgiveness, regarding employment with non-profit and education, and was told that my loan was not eligible. I'm a veteran with a 70 % service connected XXXX and XXXX years old. I fear that my current XXXX, may result in working part time in the not to distant further. Any advise and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying loans for almost XXXX years and am trying to get a better grasp on my debt. I have reached out a number of times to Navient to try to understand a few things that don't seem to make sense or aren't shown on the website, but their explanations are vague and sound like the customer service is making up explanations or just dodging the questions because they don't actually understand. The calculations for how my payments are going to the interest and principal don't make sense - the math as they show it on my account history doesn't align ( the way it appears, a portion of my payment is disappearing each month ), and they have not had an actual explanation for it. My account shows like it has been going in an out of overpayment and huge charges are being added but only the explanation I received was " we have had some changes in our system. '' I asked for detailed information about my loans and the interest accrued and projected, how my graduated payment plan works and how the interest is affected by it, but was told they do not give that information. I had to actually explain how loans work and what I understood about my payment plan because the woman I spoke with did not understand. She wasn't even familiar with most of the common loan terms I was using in trying to get information. I asked to speak with a specialist or someone who might have more knowledge and she put me on hold temporarily, but came back and told me she was going to send me a loan document that explained everything. I received it the next day and it contained none of the information I was trying to get - it showed only my initial balance and current balance. I legitimately felt like I was being taken advantage of and that there was something unfair going on which was why they were refusing to explain the things I was asking or provide the information. Given that they are managing such an important issue, it is unacceptable that there should be so little clarity with their customer service.

Consumer Complaint: My husband and I have struggled to make the payments on the loans. Navient kept stearing us to forbearance instead of income driven repayment. Then when we asked for income driven repayment, we were told that they would send us information via email on how to apply for it. The email never came. I check spam, trash, etc. No email. Called again and asked for them to resend the email. Was told it would be in my email within 2-4 hours. Again, no email. I finally had to do research on my own and hope that I have gotten it right. My loans are supposed to show that I have made the arrangements and show current, however, it is showing that I am in default. Navient also has not given me any direction as to how to handle anything since I became permanently XXXX. They never told me that I could apply for special circumstance because of my XXXX status. Additionally, they have changed the amount of the payment on my loans several times. They sent mail with one monthly amount and then within days we get more mail with a change in the monthly amount. It was confusing. Navient is not acting in good faith.

Consumer Complaint: 12 yrs ago I started paying in my loan to navient. Originally it was Sally mae. I was always offered only a forebarence. As much as I have paid my loan should have been paid off. The amount never decreases. Multiple times I've made payments that they did not receive and I refused to pay again which caused extra fees. Sometimes I even paid it again just so I don't have them telling me I'm a lier. Everytime I try to pay a little more after finally being offered the based on income and family size they raise the amount of the monthly bill and don't even tell me when they do and they change the due date without even telling you about it. In the end it's always my fault. I swear this should have been paid off by now after paying for over 10 years for a XXXX XXXX XXXX loan. I only went to school for less than a month because I felt the school was scamming me on my education. The teachers just slept and put on movies!

Consumer Complaint: I attended a number of colleges and apparently XXXX from University of XXXX which I still do not believe. I owe XXXX in student loans. I have both private and federal loans. I have asked Navient a number of times to forgive all my loans and was told it's in s program which I am only paying interest on my private loans. I am in low income housing, had to apply for medical assistance, food stamps, and not in my career. I question the value of an education, these colleges, and why the Department of Education is handing out all these loans.
