Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, A representative from a company called XXXX called my downstairs neighbor whom I barely know, since I just moved here in XXXX of this year to ask if she knew me. Navient has ALL of my correct contact information and I believe they are using this company as a way to try and embarrass and harass me into setting up a payment. This is intimidation and harassment. They know where I live and have all of my phone numbers. You're hiding behind XXXX as a way to harass and intimate people. To make matters worst my neighbor is XXXX years old, on an XXXX XXXX 24/7 and XXXX XXXX XXXX up steps, but because she was concerned that it might have been something important she walked up to the 2nd floor to tell me about a call she received from me. This is ridiculous and has to stop.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I currently have $ 97k+ loans with Navient alone. I am actually currently on a loan reduction program, but I am told that it will keep going up. They tell me that I can afford about $ 800- {$900.00} a month. I can not. Currently I am at $ XXXX/month but even with that, I am struggling. I have been paying off my loans ( after the 6 months grace period ) since XX/XX/2016 and my loans only keep going up!. My loans were at about $ 95K when I started in 2016 and now are over $ 97k+. I am assuming this is all because I am on the loan reduction program. I can not refinance these loans because my credit is too low. Trying to get this company to work out a lower payment plan is like pulling teeth. It took me a month of negotiating to get them down to $ XXXX/month, which I was told was a very special circumstance. However, that monthly payment is about to be up ( I am only on this plan for 6 months before it goes back up ). The worst part is, with doing this rate reduction plan, the interest accrues and my student loan bill goes up. I can not afford the regular price ( I was told it was roughly around $ 1300/month! ) I am swimming in debt. I am on time with everything but I get no where. My sister has gotten a call about a lawsuit with Navient. Not sure if it was a robocall or not or if it is even legit.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Today I was addressed an issue as I was trying to purchase a vehicle at a dealership that I was delinquent in credit because of a student loan that is on my record. The student loan that I apparently owe money to has already been dealt with years ago in the past which I have already paid off my student loans for my XXXX. I got in contact with Navient and they informed me that they have no prior history of any payments towards the student loan that I have already paid on record. As Ive been doing my research I noticed that Navient has had Five lawsuits against them, which included that they have processed payments incorrectly and created obstacles to payment by providing bad and in accurate information.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: Back in XXXX, XXXX, XX/XX/2014, I was a single mother and receiving little to no child support and had difficulty making my student loan payment. I contacted Navient to ask for help with this issue. There was an extreme amount of time -- three months actually -- until the deferment was approved. During that time frame I decided that feeding my children was more important than paying the monthly student loan payment. Navient never offered an alternative such as a reduced payment based on my income, which I now find out was an option. The result is a credit report that reflects the three months of non-payment of these three student loans which happened almost six years ago as I was awaiting my deferral. Please note : This is the ONLY " ding '' on my credit report. Since that time all of my children have attained the age of adulthood and I am no longer in the financial position of being unable to pay my loan. Since the end of my deferral I have not missed any payments on any student loan or other financial obligation. How can my credit score still be impacted so greatly by something that was caused by necessity to feed my children and the length of time it took Navient to process the deferral? Why wasn't I given the option of a lower payment so I didn't have to be punished with higher interest rates, lower credit score, and being branded as a person with " severe delinquency '' on my credit report for seven years until it is erased? This seems like a harsh punishment that does not fit the crime. Please help me find a way to rectify this situation. Thank you.

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: I set up a automatic payment with Navient, they picked the date that the payment would take place. They then charged me late fees because the payments were made after my due date. I asked them to refund the fees and they were not willing to do so.

Subissue: Problem with customer service
Consumer Complaint: It is very difficult to contact a live person at Navient without waiting long periods of time on hold or a call back. Considering the high interest rate they are charging students ( and government when they repay loans based upon service ) they should not have this problem.

Consumer Complaint: I have been with Navient for 3 years and I have never had customer service actually fix my problem. Such as, getting enrolled in auto pay, giving me no answer to why my interest rate is the was it is. I paid XXXX on XX/XX/2019, on the phone I believe XXXX told me that my advanced payment would be taken and I wouldnt have to worry about my next payment until XX/XX/2019. She did not tell me I would have an increased rate of XXXX . I feel as though I dont have any correct information on my loans that I try my hardest to pay every month on time. I have been given 2 different account numbers because no one can find my correct account number. Every time I call them to try and find answers they say my account is in good standing and Im doing great. Then to find out I started out with around {$6700.00} in student loans from Navient and now on XXXX I have {$7000.00}. How am I in good standing if they have taken my payments and now I owe them more than I started with. I got pushed into forbearance and that unknowingly increased my rate. I did not get told about and rates being increased. I have spoken with 4 Navient customer service members and they all have said they would help get me my answers. They tell me the same thing that Im in good standing and I have nothing to worry about. They give false hope and wrong information. These are peoples lives not accounts.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: When I started College in 2007, I was advised of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness which applied to me as I was working in XXXX XXXX and had for years. My wife who also worked for XXXX also qualified for the forgiveness. As we completed our degrees we combined our student loans and again was advised that we would fall into this category as long as we made our monthly payment without missing any and made this payment for over 10 years. Well the 10 year mark came and I filled out the required paperwork and sent it in, only to be denied due to our student loan not being listed as a Direct Loan. I talked to Navient many times without any help. There only comment was I can reclassify my loan into a direct loan so I can qualify for the loan forgiveness and apply for it after 10 years of payments. I called ombudsman for help which didn't do anything. I only was able to talk to one person who apparently got to make the entire decision on my case by themselves. I was advised all those years ago from my school and loan people that my wife and I qualify for this program. Now it looks as if I'm going to have to make my student loans for 20 years. I'm now a retired XXXX XXXX and my wife is XXXX from XXXX. I have received no help from Navient or any Feds. I have researched my situation and found that I have fallen into the same category as thousands of people. I was given misinformation from my school and Salle Mae who originally had my loan. I feel cheated and lied too. I followed the directions I was suppose to and never missed a payment. I've paid on my loan for over 11 years now with still no help. I even called Navient to try and work out in paying off my loan if they would forgive half of what is still owed and they said no way. I would like to add my name to the class action law suits against Navient for their false claims and would like any feedback or correspondence regarding my situation.
