Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Navient wrongly ended my Income Driven Repayment " IDR '' plan a month early ( XX/XX/2019 instead of XX/XX/2019 XXXX and charged me the standard repayment amount for the final month of the 12 month cycle instead of the IDR amount. My payments have been on time every month and I have documentation of the error. I spoke to Navient customer service and was told it would be promptly corrected. I followed up a month later and was told the same thing but it still has not been corrected. As a result, my account has shown an outstanding balance now for almost 6 months and my credit score has been negatively affected.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I made a payment to my son 's student loan. I gave the loan number to the representative to apply the amount to the loan. The following week I checked and the payment was sent to Treasury and not applied to the loan. On XX/XX/2019 I made another payment to one of my son 's loans and this payment was not applied to the loan even though I got an confirmation number. My son requested forms for autopay and they sent the incorrect forms. Apparently there is one for private and federal loans. My son put me down with Navient that I can talk to them and when I did they refused to assist me with sending the requested forms to me. I wanted to make payments from my account directly to Navient knowing that it would reduce the interest rate. They are trying anything to delay this process instead of assisting a person. I, as the mother, have spoken to different representatives of Navient and they all have different answers and none of them really knows anything or they would be able to process payments made to loans when loan numbers are given. It is very frustrating to deal with them and it shouldn't be that way. But anything to delay payments made to loans in order to get as much interest as possible. This applies to Federal and private loans. They are both processed incorrectly.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a Sallie Mae student loan in XXXX of XXXX. While attending school, I had been making monthly payments to help with accruing interest. I decided to take a break from attending my university before the start of the Spring XXXX semester, because I had an outstanding balance from the fall and I was trying to figure out how to pay for my schooling without obtaining another loan. After my grace period was finished, my full payment amounts had started to be withdrawn through Sallie Mae with no issue. However, in XX/XX/XXXX, I looked at my credit report and realized that I had 2 separate student loans. On my credit report, it showed that I had an outstanding loan through Navient that I " was behind on payments for. '' After a quick XXXX search, I learned that Navient and Sallie Mae used to be one, but had split. I was NEVER informed of this split, never received anything in the mail, and had to do a back payment upfront on the loan through Navient. I am EXTREMELY infuriated that I was not made aware of this split prior to it happening, and that I had to find out about this " late payment '' to Navient by looking at my credit report. My goal was to not have multiple outstanding student loans, and now I have 2 when I only applied for ONE. My main concern is that I was never notified of these circumstances. I would like to be contacted reference this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I have been in talks with Navient every month. I have had issues with making payments but have been on the phone with them multiple times. I have more than one loan and about every month I get a letter saying that Im about to default on my loan. I have called before to set up automatic payments. I now have an auto pay of {$130.00} being debited from my account on the XXXX of every month. Last month, Navient even took my pay out a week early. I have called and asked if they are crediting the right account. I am met with people on the phone who laugh this off as a mistake with a Im not sure exactly what is happening. Every time I call I ask if this monthly payment will make everything current and I wont get anymore threatening letter. They say that I am in the clear. Yet, XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter saying my account is a 160 days delinquent. In XXXX alone they have received {$200.00} ( XXXX ) {$130.00} ( XX/XX/XXXX ), which was supposed to be on the XXXX, and once again {$200.00} XX/XX/XXXX. I have literally no idea what to do any more as Navient doesnt seem to even know where they are putting my money. This has destroyed my credit score over time and I feel as if my interest rate does not accurately reflect my payments since Navient doesnt know where my money goes.

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I had called Navient several times from XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX to try to lower my monthly payment for my student loans. The resolution given to me was always to choose forbearance and without being very knowledgeable about the interest that would accrue or what my other options were I agreed to the suggestion of Navient representatives.

Consumer Complaint: Navient is conducting unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices as it relates to payment processing and overall servicing activities. I have been paying on this account since 2015 when my student loans were consolidated with Navient. and since then I have never missed a payment or have had a late payment. Navient insisted that you go paperless in regards to monthly statements, and when you go on the website you are unable to see or print an actual monthly statement with all required disclosures. In addition, there were four times through out the life of the loan that my monthly payment went to all interest and nothing was applied to principle. Finally, as I reviewed the transnational history of my payments I identified that I actually paid XXXX off of the original principle balance of {$66000.00} which would bring the principle balance to {$60000.00} ; however as shown in the evidencing document Navient has a principle balance of XXXX which is XXXX more than what it should be in which additional interest is being accrued on. This is completely unacceptable and illegal as a normal consumer would never be able to payoff their student loans due to the unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices being conducted by Navient.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: This particular account situation that is lately filing on my own credit document has a seriously unfavorable relation to my personal ability to obtain a present loan application. I highly recommend you generate verification that NAVIENT has been reported completely in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations, it's really a serious problem to mis-report. Moreconfirmation of the aforesaid item too. My proper request mustover, I was never 30 days/60 days/120 days late in any of my payments and I'm not greatly tuned in to the date opened so I prefer to ask you be investigated as soon as possible and confirmed to be correct. Thanks!

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: This is as much of an inquiry as it is a complaint. I have had Navient as my student loan provider for years. I have been making payments for a decade. A good stretch of my life was spent paying more than the interest to pay off principal, but the principal never appears to go down. I saw in the news that CFPB has sued Navient and I would like to see what resources are available for me. I will say that I fall under one of the groups harmed as I am a teacher. I was told that getting loan forgiveness of up to {$5000.00} ( that's the allotment for social studies teachers ) was not going to be an option because I had a late payment. I did not realize I had a late payment. The other problem is that I have worked at a XXXX XXXX XXXX for two year, not five. I do not necessarily take issue with that, but teachers at XXXX XXXX XXXX are working just as hard. I have a total of three years in XXXX XXXX. My first two years were at a XXXX XXXX XXXX. My current XXXX ( where I was placed by the district ) was XXXX XXXX only one year as a response to Hurricane Harvey. Please inform me what can be done.
