Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I took out a student loan with Navient in 2007 to attend XXXX XXXX. Never gained any credits or anything from that school, because of them not being accredited made my attendance there worthless and the loan that they wanted me to pay back. I was flat out lied to. Navient denies loan forgiveness even though XXXX XXXX was sued for fraud and discredited by Department of Education. Not only that Navient has been sued for fraud in the same timeline this has happened. They did not help or give much choices, just you can postpone until you pay the amount. Both institutions were conducting fraudulent activities preying on low income. Which puts them in breach of contract. I need this removed from my credit report. This whole experience has put a burden on me and my trust in the education system.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient alleged that a loan was originated in 2007 in my name. They are alleging that a check in excess of {$25000.00} was cashed at a liquor store. I have communicated to Navient on numerous occasions that I never received these funds. I have not cashed a check. The promissory note and agreement has an electronic signature on it that Navient refuses to provide validation of. Although the loan may have been applied for along with other loans for anticipation of school expenses, I was subsequently approved for sufficient Federal Student Loans. Therefore I would not have needed the funds from the private loans. These private loans were never actually funded and the funds were never negotiated by me. I have also requested information regarding the custody of this loan. Specifically, these loans are alleged to have been originated with Sallie Mae. Records indicate that Navient and Sallie Mae are NOT the same company. It was not simply a name change. Therefore, Navient has to show proof that the loans were properly transferred to them from Sallie Mae. These loans are also reporting negatively to my Credit Report. Navient should block reporting until this issue is resolved based on Federal Law. I do not owe a debt for funds I never received. I can not fill out a Identity theft affidavit that says someone stole my information in this regard. That would be a lie and perjury. The overall picture is that although the loan may have been applied for, I never signed the agreement or received any funding. The loan was cancelled.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have graduated from an XXXX program and now I am enrolled in a XXXX program that my employer pays for. XX/XX/2019, I received an email stating my " In-school deferment has been approved '' I immediately contacted Navient and requested that I be taken out of deferment as I had not requested this nor do I want it. They respond and take me out of deferment stating that my school contacted them about my new enrollment status and it was automatically changed. I can understand how this would be helpful so not a big deal it got changed. XX/XX/2019, I received another email stating my " In-school deferment has been approved ''. Once again I've immediately contacted them. Every time this happens it raises my monthly payment. It looks as if every other month they are trying to put me in deferment without my permission after I have explicitly stated that I do not wish to be in deferment

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient is calling my relatives and even my landlady and asking them to have me call them. I am applying for Income Driven Repayment plan and my only income is my Social Security retirement benefit monthly check. I am corresponding with them by email, which my " Navient email representative '' acknowledged was permitted in a email to me. However Navient insists I call them. I can not hear well on the phone, do not have a phone anymore, and live in a camper trailer in the XXXX mountains where there is little cell reception. I discontinued my cell plan a month ago. My landlady reported getting 2 calls a day over the past 3 days and my son is getting calls. My son asked them to stop calling him, but 2 days later he got another call. They are even calling my x-wife who has told them not to call her. I think this is simply a control issue with them. I am following their guidelines for applying for the Income Driven Repayment plan and I do get communications on my account portal about the status of this application, so that part is working. However they are harassing my family and anyone that might communicate with me. There must be a way to stop this abuse. I am contemplating paying a attorney the money I would pay them, just to have this abuse stopped.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Major issues with my Navient account, which has resulted in delayed, doubled, and missed payments on the account within the last 6 months. Inconsistent payments while enrolled in auto pay, with no notification of the agreed arrangement end date. I have called for various issues once every other week, with no consistent help : XX/XX/2019- Late fees charged to account with auto pay deducted on the Navient appointed due date ( payment not late ) XX/XX/2019- Late fees charged to account with auto pay deducted on the Navient appointed due ( payment not late ) XX/XX/2019- Auto payment not deducted for Federal loan ( through navient ) Late fees charged to account with auto pay deducted on the Navient appointed due ( payment not late ) XX/XX/2019 - Auto payment not deducted for Federal Loan ( through Navient ) Late fees charged to account with auto pay deducted on the Navient appointed due ( payment not late ) XX/XX/2019- Auto Payment not deducted for Private Loan ( through Navient ) Loan was sold for {$37000.00} with no approval or notice XX/XX/2019- Private loan increased by with no notification/ Federal loan auto pay charged twice. Called back to reverse payment ( fault of Navient ), and have not received refund as of XX/XX/XXXX. I have had to file a forbearance to assist with the fluctuation of my account, and have requested to not be placed on auto pay, which I am unable to do if I want the lower payment rate. I continue to be pushed around from customer service rep to rep and I am not receiving the proper customer care. The inconsistencies continue to not be resolved, with multiple errors to my account at the fault of customer service reps who are not processing my information correctly. It is difficult enough making these payments month to month, but when I am charged twice, or payments increased not to the fault of my own, Navient is blatantly taking advantage when they know there will be no consequences. Every month its a different problem and I can not keep calling every week to reverse mistakes that I have not made.

Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due

Consumer Complaint: I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report and found 120 days late payment on the dates XX/XX/2019 and XX/XX/2019. I am not sure how this happened, I believe that I had made my payments to you when I received my statements. My only thought is that my monthly statement did not get to me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by Navient last XXXX and told I was in default on my student loan. I explained I had only recently left college and that I had filed the paperwork for income based repayment. They told me that I had been in default on their loan for over 10 years and that I had never started repayment. Nothing had ever showed up on my credit report concerning this loan and I had never been contacted concerning this loan or the repayment. It took me 3 months to finally get them to follow the guidelines for my income based repayment. I started paying them through direct debit in XX/XX/2019. In XX/XX/2019they attempted to take over {$300.00} out of my account with is 6 times what my normal payment is. When I contacted them I was told it was because I hadn't filled out the paperwork for income based repayment. I explained that it was not time for me to file that paperwork again. I have had these issues with them repeatedly and I am concerned because I know that a large portion of what I owe them is interest concerning a loan I knew nothing about for 10 years.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I am paying more for interest then for the loan itself. What Navient is doing should be illegal. I want my loan to be forgiven due to this. This is criminal.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient is my student loan servicer. They are not allocating my monthly payments appropriately to principal versus interest - my balance on loans is going up, and I make payments every month. I have tried to contact them via phone, and all numbers are disconnected. They have also locked me out of my online account. They continue to take payments from my bank account and will not communicate.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I previously had payments going through with the XXXX for monthly payments. After realizing these payments stopped going through, I called the XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/2019 to start making payments again. XXXX said they could not do anything for me, and connected me to Navient. When speaking to Navient, they seemed to be clueless about the process and told me there was nothing they could do unless I paid them the amount of around $ 600- {$800.00} that day. After I told them I could not do that, they then told me I should look at the other programs out there to get this resolved. I told them all i wanted to do was start making payments again but they continued to tell me there was nothing they could do. I then started to look into what other options I had and it started to make no sense that Navient could not do anything for me, so I called again and got another clueless rep who just wanted me to pay money that day. All i wanted to do, was start making payments so it doesnt go past the defer date. Fast forward to XXXX and I am getting a notice my wages are being garnished. I called XXXX, they used the excuse they could not do anything at the time because the account was with Navient. I called Navient to get their excuse, and in return just got some rude lady who again did not care and again told me theres nothing they could do because it was sold through the XXXX. Since my loan was then sold through the XXXX to another collector, interest was added. It feels like they intentionally blew me off so my account would defer and more money could be collected. If I called both the XXXX and Navient trying to get this resolved ( and have phones logs of this even though they tried to deny it ), but continuously get blown off, why am I supposed to deal with interest added for this XXXX up? I am being forced to sign into an agreement with another servicer, because if I dont an unfair amount of wages will be garnished to where I can not pay bills. Originally when I called the XXXX, I wanted to see if they'd admit to me calling them in XXXX, and they said they do have records of this. However, when I got on the line with someone else to get an excuse why this happend, mysteriously they have no records of me calling. I doubt this will do anything for me and doubt anything will happen to Navient or XXXX, as this has happend to several other people and they have a track record for this kind of behavior.
