Consumer Complaint: I was notified by a National Credit Systems , Inc, a collection agency, that I owe a previous apartment rental balance of {$2500.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX. I visited with the apartment manager and continued communication with them via email. It was determined that due to their change in ownership, files were lost or misplaced and they reported that I did not move out until XX/XX/XXXX. It was then verified that I actually moved out on XX/XX/XXXX and I obtained a photo copy of my turned-in apartment key with the leasing agent 's signature. Via email, it was confirmed with the assistant community director that the correct owed balance is {$920.00}. The final account statement was forwarded to me as a pdf file on XX/XX/XXXX. As I was advised by the apartment staff that this updated information would be forwarded to the collection agency, I waited up to 60 days for this change to be made with them. However, the incorrect balance was reported to the credit bureaus as a debt. I then received a typed letter from them dated XX/XX/XXXX that indicated I still owe {$2500.00}. Attached to their letter is a copy of the exact final account statement that I received from the apartment staff, which indicates that they forwarded the corrected information to the collection agency. I contacted the collection agency on XX/XX/XXXX @ XXXX. I spoke to XXXX who advised me that they have a settlement amount of $ XXXX. I advised the agent of the letter I received from them and he told me I need to send them a copy of the letter I received as proof. I offered to pay the correct balance that I owe in full if they would update the debt amount shown on my credit reports. He declined and stated they need to receive the settlement amount. I never agreed to a settlement amount with the collection agency nor the apartment staff. I am still being contacted by the collection agency for the incorrect balance. Last call from them was XX/XX/XXXX @ XXXX XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Good morning. My name is XXXX XXXX and I'm inquiring about being put into collection from you all. The reason I'm asking is because we were never supposed to be penalized for moving out due to it being a major leak and a roach infestation in our apartment. We lived in the exact same building that had the fire in XX/XX/XXXX. From XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I have all the photos of when the apartment flooded as well as the photos of the roaches crawling around all the time. It was approved for us to move out in XXXX due to you all not having another apartment ready for us to move in and we couldn't stay in unhabitable apartment because of our XXXX XXXX old son. The flood was the last thing to happened. We had been complaining about the roaches from the time we moved in. You all had someone to come out and spray but that didn't help because it was an infestation in the building. Concerning the flooding, it was in the dining room, kitchen, living room, our baby nursery and the entry way. It caused the light domes to cave in and fall from the ceiling in our son room. We had to move out temporarily when it happened and we weren't compensated for any of that or any of our stuff that was damaged. When we came back there was mold/mildew which is when we made the decision to move out the apartment due to us getting the run around about moving into a different apartment. Also lastly I don't understand why if all of this happened in XXXX why you waited until XXXX after the fire to reach out to us when we have repeatedly tried to contact you before and after we moved out about any reimbursement?

Consumer Complaint: I broke a lease agreement with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX After some back and forth, they determined this to be an uncollectable debt and they issued a 1099. They originally sent a 1099-misc, indicating I had received a {$17000.00} payment from them. I notified them that they should have sent a 1099-c ( notice of debt cancellation ) and they assured me that they would send me the correct form to indicate they " gave '' me over $ XXXX. Of course, they didn't " give '' me any money. They " gave '' me this money in the form of debt forgiveness. Both my XXXX and XXXX reports indicate I owe them the money that they " gave '' me, which is now considered taxable income for XXXX.
