As part of the settlement, they waived ALL BACK RENT, but we are now being illegally charged, in violation of the settlement terms! Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered a notice on my door from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, alleging that I was past due by approximately {$3000.00} in rent. This notice was perplexing, as I had not received any prior communication regarding late fees or a rent increase. I'd like to emphasize that I consistently paid my rent, either through the apartment portal or by money order, adhering to the agreed-upon amount of {$810.00} as stipulated in my lease contract. Before XXXX, I encountered some payment issues and promptly informed XXXX XXXX, whom I met in person at the office. I explained that there had been an error in my paycheck by the United States XXXX XXXX XXXX department, which might result in a delay in rent payment. XXXX kindly assured me that she would waive any late fees due to this unforeseen hardship. However, when I received the notice, I visited the office to seek clarification. XXXX presented statements indicating that we owed a differential amount based on a new rate. I requested evidence of any prior notices or letters regarding the rent increase or late fees, but she couldn't provide any. According to the law, eviction notices must be written and served, which never happened in my case. My husband and I had informed the leasing office that we would be relocating due to PCS orders and XXXX orders, scheduled for XXXX. Furthermore, it's important to note that a landlord can not evict a servicemember or their dependents from their primary residence without a court order, and the court has the authority to adjust lease obligations to protect the interests of both parties ( XXXX XXXX. ). I believe that the leasing office 's actions violated our rights as service members and were not in compliance with the law. They also sold the debt to a third-party collection agency, despite having written it off as a charge-off, resulting in the collection agency attempting to collect the debt. This has had a negative impact on my credit, and I request that the collection be removed and compensation for the damages incurred. Additionally, the leasing office failed to return our security deposit and did not provide an itemized list of deductions within the required 60 days, which they are now two years late in doing. I have provided documentation, including my lease, to demonstrate that no notice was ever given regarding a rent increase or accumulating late fees due to our hardships or deployment. In summary, I am seeking resolution for these issues, including the removal of the collection, compensation for damages, and the return of our security deposit with the required itemized list of deductions. These actions were taken in violation of our rights as service members under the SCRA, and I believe it is essential to rectify these matters appropriately. I also took the initiative to attach complaints and better business bureau rating from other residents who have been discriminated against or have issues with the leasing office administration.

Consumer Complaint: Regarding Dispute : National Credit System XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX A amount : {$24000.00} To whom it may concern ; I am disputing XXXX XXXX XXXX even though I already did throughout RENT TO GO. Account showed on my credit after it was removed from my rental history after being disputed. This account was disputed because my landlord refused to accept the payments from NJDCA after I was approved Due to Covid 19 I saw myself unemployed from both jobs I had at the moment, which is the reason I was unable to pay my rent. I applied for NJDCA covid relief funds and was approved putting me on a waitlist, which led to me being in court for back payments. At my court appointment on XX/XX/2023 I was offered an agreement by my landlord and her lawyer saying that THEY NO LONGER WANT TO WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE, AND TO TAKE MY LITTLE BIT OF MONEY AND LEAVE AND FORGET ABOUT WHAT I OWE.I got scared the lease was not current and it was not my name on it but my kids father XXXX XXXX. which they are also trying to charge even after i asked for him to be removed after he left way before this covid even happen. I left the premises on XXXX XXXX how they so nicely asked. ( by NJ law according to XXXX landlords are not to deny assistance which I didn't know ) .I was given 30 days to leave with my kids because if I didnt they were going to evict me and would be a possibility of closing my doors if they continue court procedures. They claimed the government assistance where not going to help me and me being ignorant agreed because why will they not want their money. This was all in front of a judge who second the landlord by saying that this was true, that if i stayed and the follow court i might get my doors closed and be ask to leave without time to prepare. I should sue them because i am currently still homeless House hopping between people I know because of this. While homeless with my kids the NJDCA reached out to me claiming they were paying them at the time I was being offered to leave and also that they want to give the funds to my new landlord ( Which I don't have ). THEY ARE RYING TO HELP ME GET THESE FUNDS TO USE ON A DIFFERENT APARTMENT. I have not been able because of my low income which now is another issue and on top this being on my credit if affecting my kids even more. This is my last resort because I was given until XXXX XXXX by NJDCA to find an apartment for this funds or ima have to bring me and my kids to a shelter because I can't no longer stay where I am staying These reports being on my credit is stopping me from getting an apartment. If there is anything you recommend me doing please tell me, I feel like I was cornered to aggre to something that either way was meant to make me loose by some professionals that where not trying to help me.
