Tried to use online banking and when I called they told me the bank closed the account and sent it to collections. I never used this account for anything accept to open the account and properly use it. But the account failed to send me my bank card and failed to properly keep my account private

Consumer Complaint: Sometime over a decade ago I co opened a bank account with my younger brother thru M & T Bank. He was the primary and he had the only debit card/checks, I never used this account. Apparently in 2017 the acct was closed sometime prior to that there was over draft charges of {$240.00} and change. My brother still has a separate active M & T account that he uses. Fast forward to XXXX weeks ago, I run a speech therapy clinic and needed to be added onto the business bank acct thru M & T, I was flagged that I could not be added due to this past due balance for a account I never used. I was never notified of the acct closure, of the past due balance, or any issue with the acct via mail, email, or phone. When I questioned the bank they could not provide me with any information reg the charges, the date of charges, and if they attempted to notify me or how. They also could not provide me information as to why my brother 's active acct was not charged for this outstanding balanced. Further more this is not on my credit report ANYWHERE so until I attempted to open a new bank acct for my business I would never have known this existed, which is infuriating. This could have affected me getting a mortage in a year or two or opening any additional savings or checking accts with my husband etc. I had to pay this balance WHICH WAS NOT MINE because No one would help me or even give me accurate detailed information. This is unacceptable. There should have been a direct commmunication attempt and if they are claiming I am responsible for this debt I should be able to have access to what this debt is actually for and the dates of origin etc.

I did call the bank and they did warn me that someone opened an account with them and they arready blocked it anyway. They had my social security, of course my name and Address. The card came to me home address. The bank did tell me to let the Credit bureau know that my identity as been stolen. Therefore I m letting you know that someone has my SS # and they are trying all sort of things please put a stop to it as soon as possible. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 a credit of {$190.00} was posted to my checking account as Pending with the funds stated as accessible on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX they were still Pending and not accessible to me. On XX/XX/XXXX, the status on my account remained Pending but he posted date changed to XX/XX/XXXX and accessible funds date changed to XX/XX/XXXX and the funds are still not accessible. I brought it to the attention of the XXXX XXXX and she didn't understand why the funds were not available either and the date changed the first time this happened. Then I knew this was a problem. This is the second time I'm having this issue with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The previous time was with XXXX. They submitted a credit to my account. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX held the funds as Pending for 5 days, kept moving the Pending date for 3 days until the funds were available to me. Each time XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX claimed it was a problem on the company 's end not theirs which was completely false. This time I made the mistake of not taking pictures each night with my phone to prove my point but I am going to do this tonight. The intentional illegal withholding of funds for whatever reason is a practice of theirs which needs to be investigated. Since this is the second time, I'm filing the official complaint and not discussing it with their corporate office again.

The customer service has been unhelpful and I don't want to go to a branch. Consumer Complaint: Me and my wife were XXXX from XX/XX/2023 until XX/XX/2023. During this time our LOCKED filing cabinet was broken into and ALL of our personal banking information was taken and used to deplete our checking account of roughly {$36000.00} that was part of a Workman 's Compensation settlement. I'm sure M & T Bank will be able to look on their database and see everything that has been brought up about this case, including ALL the information and documents we have been sending to verify all of this fraudulent activity. We have been claiming this fraud case since XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX, which is the day after we were released. Ive gone in person to file the claim and explain everything that happened and why its fraud. Ive filed with the XXXX XXXX Police XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for the culprits that broke into our locked filing cabinet and stole our banking information. We even had a family friend call and notify M & T Bank of the fraud that was occurring and M & T Bank did the BARE MINIMUM to prevent it from continuing. We gave the XXXX XXXX Police XXXX Report to an M & T Bank branch in our area and even uploaded a copy to the CFPB complaints. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DENIED BY M & T BANK. M & T Bank has acknowledged around {$1000.00} as fraud, but my family is still robbed of {$35000.00} FROM FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY. If nothing else is done on M & Ts then we will take M & T Bank to court. We willl acquire a lawyer and M & T Bank will also be responsible for our lawyer fees. We will subsequently file additional reimbursements for time and all additional expenses, including time required to take off work. This case is obviously fraud and we dont understand why M & T Bank would cause such a headache for a family that has been banking with M & T for over a decade. I look forward to a response.
