Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I initiated a CFPB complaint on Chase Bank in reference to my credit card being closed for no reason. Once I submitted the complaint, the case was assigned to an individual with Chase 's executive office. On XX/XX/2023 Chase Bank responded by relaying that I had a public record financial investigation associated with my name and was the cause for closing the account. On XX/XX/2023 I proceeded to call and reach out to the Chase Executive Office via phone and spoke to the individual who was assigned to my case and that was responsible for responding to the CFPB complaint I submitted. I proceeded to ask several questions and for more details as to the origin of the claim that was made. However, I was informed by the individual that Chase reserves the right to refuse to cooperate in explaining any further details about the claim being made for closing the account. I was further informed to file another CFPB complaint to have the case be assigned to a different individual in the executive office and see if further details can be provided to resolve the issue that Chase is claiming is associated with my name.

Consumer Complaint: Firstly I must introduce my self as a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, I work 7 days a week cashing out my money everyday into my checking accounts with chase bank and I also do my everyday spending from this same account as well. Theres been a lot of discrepancies going on with my account and it has gotten to a point where I must voice it out to the public for them to be aware of these type of scam from chase bank. I first got to know about this trick when I was still banking with XXXX XXXX where I had my direct deposit from my work setup with them, when ever it get to my payday, they will credit my account with some amount of money to make it look like a mistake then when your direct deposit finally hits your account they now take out the money they deliberately added to your account along side some of your money and you will never see that transaction on your statement of account. Chase bank did this to me about 5 days ago, I woke up from bed on the XXXX XXXX XXXX and checked my chase mobile app to my greatest suppose there was a credit of {$1100.00} in my account but was not on my statement as that money doesnt have an history, I call that type of money ghost money. Because of my past experience with XXXX XXXX I quickly took out that money from my account and kept it leaving my actual money that was in the account before this ghost money came in, I continued working and making more deposit in the account, after 3 day I got a negative balance of {$1100.00} then I knew it was that money they were talking so I immediately paid it back with brought my account to normal. All my credit card company get their minimum due payment from this same account so I initiated a loan payment {$210.00} on one of my card called XXXX XXXX on the XXXX XXXX this payment didnt post until XXXX XXXX XXXX and that was it, payment went through with glitch or decline for any type of reason, they are not suppose to debit my account again until the following month which is XX/XX/XXXX. I woke this morning XXXX XXXX to fine out my chase account is negative- {$210.00} so I called my bank to ask about this transaction, they said XXXX XXXX did not receive payment on the XXXX XXXX and the check they raised was return so they had to retry it again on the XXXX which brought my account to negative {$210.00} today I immediately called XXXXXXXX XXXX and they denied initiating any transaction on the XXXX and XXXX XXXX, They said they initiated the debit on my account on the XXXX and the payment was successful the that transaction was marked completed. These and many more have been experiencing with chase bank, when you buy things online and maybe you not okay with the item and it required you return the item and get a refund back to your account, chase will never credit that money to your account but they will add it to your statements of account and even lie on your that you did not realize they credited you but trust me they are very good at their scam. Am a day to day earner and am not rich, I keep taps on my little income so I dont fall victim of things like this, I have diverted all my direct deposit to a different bank and am waiting for this mess to be cleared so I can close the account and be free from these scammers.

Consumer Complaint: Hello this is regarding claim CLAIM ID : XXXX with chase bank credit card. I returned all the items in that order to the merchant and am owed a full refund of {$7300.00}. I believe the credit card company Chase was mistaken in the reason for the chargeback and I also think they are discriminating against me because I am XXXX. The merchant XXXX provided me the return label and I boxed all the items I received using the return label as the label for the box and I returned all the items. It appears that the XXXX warehouse mixed up the items with another box return or chase and XXXX dont believe me because I am XXXX but that is not right. J returned all the items in the order.

Consumer Complaint: The account XXXX was sold but still reports a balance. I know that reading my credit report JPMCB says that the account is a charge off, which is debt that has been discharged and you took a tax write on. After contacting the IRS, they explained that it was illegal that you were reporting this information to my credit report trying to collect or having a charged off status. This is called tax fraud upon the IRS, and you will be reported for such. I demand you to remove this item from my credit report and send the 1099-c so I can audit it to make sure you are in compliance. You violated the FCRA 15 USC 1681eb by reporting information that's not 100 % accurate. The IRS directed me to file form 3949a for illegal tax violations upon your company. I'm quite sure your CEO OR VP would not want to be in court for this matter. Any US Code in the FCRA that any corporation violates the consumer is entitled to actual damages and monetary compensation. See attached credit report.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, My inquiry is about an unresolved dispute XXXX. I had called and was told to send them all evidence i had collected of the XXXX $ charge for an XXXX i was physically unable to access in our tiny rental car. The 'road ' was lava rock and mud that had massive dips, so our tiny car had to be physically pushed out of because it was so deep. When it rains ( which is a lot ), those trenches fill up with water making it impossible to enter or leave. Of course this was not disclosed in the listing and for the safety of my XXXX XXXX XXXX son, i did not want to try and tough out such conditions in what was essentially a jungle. The dispute was denied twice now purely because XXXX responded to their inquiries, as stated in the letters chase gave me, and did not review my evidence that it was physically impossible to actually use the service i paid for. I am beyond disappointed that a credit card company will not even review any evidence a customer puts forwards like this.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the handling of the investigation into unauthorized charges on my account. On [ date ], I noticed several charges on my account statement from XXXX XXXX XXXX for products that I never received. Despite reporting these unauthorized charges to Chase Bank and requesting an investigation, I have not received a satisfactory resolution. I have evidence in the form of an email from XXXX confirming that they issued a refund for the unauthorized charges and advised me to check with my bank to ensure the funds were returned. However, the charges have not been reversed, and as a result, my account is now in the negative, causing significant inconvenience and financial distress. It is clear that the investigation conducted by Chase Bank into these unauthorized charges was inadequate and failed to rectify the situation.

Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I relocated from XXXX to XXXX, and while moving, I was using my card ( ending in XXXX ) and making charges. The card was lost or stolen at some point because I could no longer locate it. I called Chase and explained what happened. They said they would close the card and issue me a new one. The new card ( ending in XXXX ) was finally received. When reconciling my bank account online, I noticed charges to the new card. These charges concerned me because I had never ( and still have not ) activated the new card. I called Chase to inform them that these charges were fraud because [ again ] the card had not been activated or used to make any purchases. Chase continued to ask me about charges to the 'previously lost or stolen card ' and I kept telling them I was calling about unauthorized charges on the new card. I received my credit card statement and saw the charges were still there, so I wrote that the charges were fraudulent and mailed the statement back to Chase ( at the address on the card statement ) disputing the charges. I am still waiting to hear from Chase regarding the dispute ( fraudulent charges ). XXXX, XX/XX/2022, I went to balance my account ( via mobile services ) and noticed that Chase authorized additional charges to the new card. XXXX, XX/XX/2022, I called Chase to speak to them about this, and the customer service agent ( XXXX XXXX told me that they had linked the lost or stolen card to the new card, and the charges were 'subscriptions. ' So, I understood the agent to say that Chase will close a lost or stolen card and issue a new card but link the new card to the lost or stolen card. I asked the agent if my understanding was correct, and she said yes. The agent said that because they are subscriptions, they are authorized subscriptions. I attempted to explain that I would not be held responsible for charges I did not make. The agent interrupted me and said she 'never said I was responsible ' I ended the call in anger and frustration.

Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/23 I closed an account I had had with chase. I have many accounts with them and transferred my available credit to another card. I did not transfer my rewards points which were accumulated over various cards over many years, but which in order to be used had to be linked with one card onlyin this case the card I closed. I have no recollection of the representative who closed my account telling me I would lose my rewards points when I closed my account, and they certainly did not offer to link them to one of my many remaining accounts. When I saw that my points were gone, I immediately called and was told that they could do nothing. I then wrote a letter and received a voicemail telling me the same thing. I do not believe this policy is fair or transparent.
