Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: After receiving my statement in XXXX, I noticed approximately {$10000.00} in charges from a service called " XX/XX/XXXX'' spanning the months of XXXX and XXXX. I have used XXXX XXXX, in the past, to purchase 2 domain names and apparently my credit card was saved in their system. The first purchase was in XXXX of XXXX ( see attached : XXXX ) and the second in XXXX of XXXX ( see attached : XXXX ) I point this out because Chase says, because I've purchased 2 domains totaling less than {$90.00} each in the past that the XXXX XXXX dollars of purchases during the months of XXXX and XXXX of XXXX are not fraud. The only reason the charges stopped is because I reported my credit card as stolen at that point and a new credit card was issued. Here 's what happened. My account on XXXX XXXX was hacked. The contact information changed such as email address and login information. I can not login. They used the saved credit card on file to purchase approximately {$10000.00} worth of services from XXXX XXXX, I don't even know what they all are, maybe domain names. See attached for my credit card statements : XXXX and XXXX. I reported this as fraud as soon as I saw it on my statement and have been back and forth with Chase for months disputing the charges and escalating the dispute. They sent a final determination letter ( see attached : XXXX ) saying they found that it wasn't fraud in their investigation. They said they tried to contact XXXX and since the charges were made " from my account '' ( of which I have no access to anymore ), they stand by that they are valid BUT they won't provide any information like ... what were the domain names purchased? who owns those domain names? Which if they did provide that information it would PROVE I DON'T own them nor am I associated to them in any way shape or form. I don't know what to do! This is not a {$20.00} dispute this is XXXX XXXX dollars of fraudulent charges. I'm just appalled that after being a customer of theirs for over 15 years with a spotless history of credit they would not work with me and honor their commitment to protect me against fraudulent charges.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: Today, on XX/XX/2023, at Chase 's branch between XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX, NY, Chase has refused to take a deposit of {$30.00} in quarters, which is XXXX quarters. Chase engaged in deliberate wastage of my time and forced labor, by allowing me to line up to make a deposit, demanding I put the coins within flimsy papers, and then complaining about the way they were stacked inside the papers after having to line up again while arguing with me and ultimately refusing the transfer after counting the quarters up to around $ XXXX {$9.00} and then saying " it's short '', and then giving up on the counting altogether. They then dropped some of my quarters and did not put them into a recounting machine after picking them up. Therefore I was forced to count all the quarters again myself to ensure no quarters were stolen or lost by Chase.

Issue: Closing on a mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally complain about Chase Bank 's handling of my recent home purchase, which has left me frustrated and disappointed. I believe the bank has acted in breach of their own mortgage closing guarantee and shown a disregard for consumer rights. To provide some background, I submitted an online mortgage application with Chase Bank on XX/XX/. I was fortunate to receive a pre-approval from Chase Bank for the mortgage on XX/XX/, and I promptly provided all requested documents to them in XXXX and then again on XX/XX/ Having executed a contract for my house onXX/XX/, I provided a copy of the contract to Chase Bank, anticipating a smooth process. However, there were multiple delays due to Chases failure to promptly obtain an appraisal of the house, which was finally completed onXX/XX/. Following the appraisal, I experienced another round of delays stemming from Chase 's oversight in documenting a signature waiver related to the appraisal process. As a result, I wasn't able to close on the house until XX/XX/XXXX. This delay extended far beyond the XXXX Chase Mortgage XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX additional stress and inconvenience. I escalated this issue to XXXX XXXX XXXX at Chase Bank on XX/XX/, and a second inquiry was sent to him onXX/XX/. Despite my attempts to seek resolution, I have yet to receive a response on a decision. Most recently, I submitted a request for review to Chase corporate on XX/XX/XXXX and received an email asking that I call them. Upon speaking with a representative on XX/XX/, I was told that they would not honor the closing guarantee, under the pretext that the closing occurred 15 days after the final document was received, a claim which contradicts my records and timeline. Based on the provided outline of events, I believe Chase Bank is in violation of their {$5000.00} closing guarantee. If Chase does not intend to uphold their guarantee, it should not be advertised, as it misleads consumers with a false promise of a timely mortgage closure. My research and online complaints suggest that this deceptive practice is not an isolated incident but a recurring issue with Chase Bank. I have emails and documents that substantiate these statements and I am ready to provide them if required. I am appealing to your agency to thoroughly investigate Chase Bank for these practices and to help secure the {$5000.00} guaranteed by Chase. I believe this action is necessary to safeguard consumer rights and deter false advertisement in the financial industry. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a favorable resolution.

Issue: Getting a loan or lease

Subissue: Credit denial

Consumer Complaint: I, XXXX XXXX and natural person, was denied credit by XXXX of XXXX who ran my credit to and gave it to Chase when I applied for auto financing, who is in possession/control of a legal person ( XXXX XXXX XXXX, so I am co-signing/the co-signer for the legal person when Im entering into any consumer credit transaction/consumer transaction.. Adverse action against a consumer is AGAINST THE LAW according to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act which is codified in 15 U.S.C 1691c and is pursuant to civil liability under 15 U.S.C 1692k. Also they willingly and knowingly provided false and misleading information to me to make that decision 15 U.S.C 1611 denying me extension of my own credit. They also told me that I had to make a down payment when its a consumer credit transaction and thats breaking the law 15 U.S.C 1605 and 15 U.S.C 1611, You are subject to criminal liability for violating 15 U.S.C 1691 and 15 U.S.C 1611 as I have proof that I was discriminated against by Chase due to the response I received. Chase is in violation of 15 U.S.C1642, U.S.C 1681m and 12 CFR 1002 because I, the consumer, made a application in good faith, but credit was not issued. Furthermore, because my social security number ( credit card ) was used and I received NO benefit. This is proof of fraudulent activity ( unauthorized use of credit card ) on behalf of Chase 15 U.S.C 1602p. If Chasle fails to make any reasonable procedures to resolve this matter and compensate me the use of my credit card I will indeed make Chase criminally and civilly liable for all actual damages pursuant to 15 U.S.C 1681n and 15 U.S.C 1681o. Chase was one of those lenders who wasn't suppose to deny me.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: Hello, On XX/XX/XXXX I pressed a red button on my main computer screen and it froze. A so called XXXX showed a support number to call to find out the issue. A person supposedly named XXXX XXXX from XXXX ran a scan to find out the issue and to fix it it. It showed that someone had supposedly gotten into my financial account and gave permission to send money to a XXXX bank for XXXX XXXX. So called XXXX then told me that was a CRIME and gave me a phony case number saying that I would be contacted by Dept of Treasury to investigate it and of course I became scared. She said we needed to notify my bank and asked for the bank number and then she put me on hold and said she was updating my XXXX and do not turn off the computer. A person who said his name was XXXX called from XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX showing a CHASE BANK logo. He asked me to check if anything had been taken from my bank account and that's when I looked and saw nothing missing. He was talking rapidly and said it was pending and I needed to rush to the bank and pull money and place in a third party to prove that someone was trying to place it in another bank in XXXX. He told me not to let teller know why I wanted the money because of the XXXX XXXXXXXX and I be in trouble. He then lead me by phone to bitcoin to put the money and telling me it would be transferred back into my account. I had never used XXXX before so I had no clue that I was being scammed. On XX/XX/XXXX, so called XXXX called me early in the morning from XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX to continue the withdrawal transactions. He asked if the investigator had called me yet. Soon someone posing from Dept of Treasury from XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX called me about the XXXX XXXX while XXXX was on phone. He was able to tell me about my credit and finances and so call cleared me of not going to trial. XXXX had me go to one more CHASE bank and the teller at that particular one mentioned it to a supervisor who did not simply give me my request. She told me to go to her office and said that I had been with CHASE since XXXX and asked if I was okay. She mentioned scammers and after I read a pamphlet on her desk I decided to tell her what was going on. That's when I found out I had been hacked and scammed really bad. My accounts were immediately frozen and changed. The manager even asked me if anyone at the other banks questioned me like she did before simply giving me the money? I filed a verbal claim with CHASE CLAIMS DEPT and they said they would investigate it but they look at it as I voluntarily participated. I was not given a form to fill out. I went into the bank to take care of some business and was told then that my case had been closed. CHASE CLAIMS DEPT never emailed me or reached out to me on their decision. I was told also that they could not give me a copy of their decision. I am a victim of being scammed out of my money and would like to know what I can do to get my money back. I would definitely not voluntarily give that amount of money to anyone. I'm being treated as though I volunteered to participate. NO!! I was scared and tricked into doing what took place. I would like to sue CHASE bank 's claim dept to get my money back through FDIC and for them having a not care attitude by not even making me aware of their decision to close my case or give me a copy of the decision.. Again I have been a customer with CHASE since around XXXX!!!! Thank you!!!!

Issue: Closing your account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: I have excellent credit and already have a long standing XXXX card from Chase bank. I took advantage of several new offers they had one for a personal card Chase Sapphire Preferred and a new business card Chase XXXX XXXX preferred. I was approved for both. I spoke with a representative live regarding limit increase on both new cards and the live representative based on my credit worthiness granted an increase on both. I proceeded to use my new cards that arrived several days later. Both cards came with wonderful new benefits, one being a {$1000.00} back after spending {$2000.00} within the first 2 months, also zero percent interest for 18 months, additional cash back, flyer miles and a host of other benefits between the two cards. I spent roughly XXXX on the first card an about XXXX on the second card. Nothing else changed on my credit, no lates, no additional heavy charges, nothing. After only a couple weeks of having my new cards Chase, without warning closed ALL my Chase accounts including my XXXX card which I had for almost 10 years. When I called them to find out why they refused to give any answers and simply said a letter would be mailed to me. A letter did finally arrive almost 2 weeks later and all it stated was " Too many recent reviews of credit '' & " balances are too high compared to credit limits ''. This is information they had out the gate when approving the two new cards yet they said nothing, this is the same information they had when I called in and soke to their live agents, and not only did they say nothing they granted a higher credit limit. Now only a few weeks later, they closed not just the two new accounts but also my 10 year old long standing XXXX Chase Visa. Yet they never even sent a letter for reasons as to why they would close my 10 year perfect standing XXXX Chase account. My entire history with Chase for over 10 years, zero late pays, zero derogatory payments or marks, nothing but perfect history. Needless to say I am furious as this is a direct violation and breach of contract, dealing in bad faith, and a switch and bait. When I inquired about the benefits that were promised to the cards they claimed none would be paid out, not the miles earned, or the {$1000.00} cash back earned or even the points earned, as well as the zero interest. They have hurt my credit substantially by allowing new cards to be opened only to be immediately closed while carrying high balances, they hurt my credit further by closing a 10 year long standing account with no notice or warning, and they hurt my credit even further do to the fact my revolving credit to income percentage is now skewed with high balances that are no longer revolving and are just latent debt. Please hold Chase accountable for their breach of contract, dealing in bad faith, conduct unbecoming of a business and classic bait and switch. I await to hear from you guys. My attorney is being made aware of this complaint being filed as we both await cfpb 's success in response with Chase. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/ I paid what I thought was a trusted source for a piece of furniture for {$300.00}. It ended up being a scam with the email being off by a letter. Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, I was charged {$540.00} for an online order ( by XXXX ) that I ultimately did not receive. Specifically I ordered 6 articles of clothing, and only received 2 articles of clothing ( two dresses I did not order- which is very evident by my order information and can provide this information ). After going back and forth with the online company 's customer service ( to try to resolve the issue ), it became clear that the company was fraudulent and would not issue me a refund. I am happy to provide documentation proving this ( i.e. email thread interactions, order information, screen shots of policies ). I then submitted for a chargeback with Chase. When I submitted for a chargeback, I selected the category " Did not receive merchandise versus Received merchandise not as described. I received a letter on XXXX stating that the chargeback was was not successful and that I would be charged the full amount. I called Chase shortly after receiving this letter and was told that I selected the wrong category. I explained to them that both categories apply to this situation ( again, I received 2 items versus 6 items ) and was told that it did not matter and I needed to select the other category. I was then told I could refute it again with an appeal letter ( which I'm happy to provide upon request ). I sent the appeal letter the same day I had this conversation with Chase on XXXX. I then received a letter during the second week of XXXX ( dated XXXX ) in the mail that their investigation remained the same and the transaction was valid. I called Chase again today on XXXX. I was told by one customer service specialist ( who I didn't get her name before she hung up on me ) and another named XXXX that the case could not be opened because it was closed. They also mentioned that a reason that the dispute was not honored was because of the company 's policy ( which makes absolutely no sense ). I then requested to talk with a supervisor. I spoke with XXXX who told me that she could not reopen this case because I was past Chase 's internal deadline for re-opening cases like this. I asked her what this deadline was and she again clarified that this is an internal deadline that is set by Chase and not communicated to customers. There were no deadlines published on my letters sent to me by Chase regarding this dispute, nor were any " deadline '' communicated to me during my various phone calls I had with Chase. In fact, I was told during my first phone call with Chase that it could take 118 days for Chase to reopen my case. When I asked XXXX how I was supposed to meet their deadlines ( particularly without knowing them and when they are sending me correspondence by postal mail and it can take days to receive these letters ), I was told essentially that I needed to be more prompt in responding to my mail and that Chase hopes their customers are prompt when responding to correspondence because Chase is always there to talk to customers ( What? ). Again, I was told it could take 118 days to reopen this case and no internal timelines were communicated. I also heard from a few customer service reps that this claim was denied because of XXXX policy ( which leads me to believe that this claim/my submitted evidence was NOT thoroughly investigated because their policy is completely irrelevant here ). XXXX also alluded to the idea that if I had selected the proper category the first time, then this could have been resolved within their timelines. I asked for an explanation on how I didn't select the right category especially considering I only received 2 products ( product I did not order ) when I ordered 6, and she could not answer this. XXXX then said she could give me {$100.00} and that is the best Chase could do. Chase is just really trying to not pay the {$540.00} that I am owed. Happy to provide additional details. I have attached my dispute letter I sent to Chase on XXXX. Happy to scan and upload my denial letters as desired.
