Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: Problem during payment process

Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer FInancial Protection Bureau, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding an unresolved payment issue I am experiencing with Chase Bank. XX/XX/2023, I decided to switch banking institutions, from XXXX to Chase. Before the transfer, I made a final payment of {$2000.00} to my Chase Credit Card account. XXXX informed me that they were unable to close my account until the {$2000.00} payment was posted to Chase. XX/XX/2023, I initiated a transfer of {$2000.00} from my XXXX checking account to my Chase credit card account. Chase received and posted the transfer on the same day, as confirmed via my Chase Online account. XXXX, received the alert that my {$2000.00} was posted to my Chase account, proceeded to close my account. Later that same day, after my XXXX account was closed and the payment posted by Chase, Chase attempted to verify the funds. However, they were unable to do so and declined the {$2000.00} payment, citing insufficient funds. Chase made a second attempt to process the payment on XX/XX/2023, but it was again returned, this time due to the closure of my XXXX account. The payment was sent back to XXXX, but since my account there was already closed, XXXX was unable to reimburse me the {$2000.00} to Chase. I received a letter from Chase on XX/XX/2023, stating that they declined the {$2000.00} payment from XXXX and had blocked my XXXX account from sending any further payments to my Chase account. Chase claimed they do not have any information or records pertaining to the {$2000.00} transfer and do not have the returned funds. XXXX has confirmed the receipt of the returned funds from Chase, but XXXX could apply the credit the {$2000.00} due to my account closure nor issue a check, which leaves the {$2000.00} in limbo. In my attempt to rectify this issue, I have made numerous calls and spoken to several Chase account supervisors. XXXX provided a Transaction ID ( XXXX ), which I forwarded to Chase. However, Chase account mangers claimed they could not track or act upon this ID and requested further information such as bank statements. XX/XX/2023, XXXX XXXX, I coordinated a conference call involving both XXXX and Chase account managers, XXXX, XXXX account manager and XXXX, Chase account supervisor. During this call, we reached a resolution. XXXX agreed that Chase has processes in place, that are not recognized to other financial institutions. XXXX confirmed that he would credit the {$2000.00} back to my Chase credit card account and waive interest charges. He asked to send proof of payment a checking account statement showing that the {$2000.00} payment was made. Chase would conduct a missing payment investigation and reclaim the money. The documentation was provided via Chase secure messages, and they would contact me if Chase needed anything else. Chase applied my {$2000.00} payment to my credit card account. I thought he issue was resolved ; however, I received a letter from on XX/XX/2023, stating that the {$2000.00} payment was credited to my account in error on XX/XX/2023, and that the credit had been reversed. No further updates or calls were given to me regarding the payment investigation. XX/XX/2023, XXXXXXXX XXXX, I contacted Chase. While the account supervisor was initially helpful, their demeanor changed, becoming rather curt when I asked about the next steps. I was left in the dark, without any information about how to proceed to recover my {$2000.00}. Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low

Subissue: Bounced checks or returned payments

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I deposited a cashiers check at Chase Bank for XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I called to see if it cleared and the hold could be lifted. Was told no, because the maker of the check had bounced checks recently. I asked if I should call XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to make sure funds were good since I released my boat and all legal paperwork to the buyer when I received a cashiers check. Was told there was no need to contact them because it was just a Chase Bank hold. On XX/XX/XXXX I learn that a stop payment had been placed and the cashiers check was returned. I've been unable to reach the buyer, I can't talk to anyone at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX when I call their customer service number. The only reason I released my boat is because I received a cashiers check via XXXX and my bank Chase accepted the deposit I made in the branch. The fact that Chase told me not to call XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX caused me to lose 3 days that I might have been able to find the buyer. Now, I'm stuck with no boat and no money for my boat. Chase and/or XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX need to honor their cashiers check. It's supposed to be the same as cash. How can Chase allow a stop payment?

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: I noticed a discrepancy with my credit card transaction with XXXX. I was charged higher than what was shown while booking the ride. I called Chase asking them to partially dispute the charge for the extra amount. But, Chase customer service refused to raise a dispute and informed that they cant do anything at the moment. This is very disturbing and a violation of card member agreement.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted my credit card company about a dispute of a charge. I didnt receive the services. I clearly told them what happened. But the credit card company rep were in XXXX and could not properly speak XXXX. I explained my issue so many times to them. Even after he said he understood I dont think he did. I told him I did not receive the service I paid the company. The merchant lied to them and didnt even get back to me. The rep from chase said he would get back to me and he never did. They just closed out the dispute. I told him I was away on vacation. The rep said dont worry I will call you back. The merchant clearly didnt provide the services. This is why these disputes should be handled by XXXX and not someone overseas who cant properly speak XXXX.

Subissue: Talked to a third-party about your debt

Consumer Complaint: I have an auto debt that is about {$25000.00} with JP MORGAN CHASE BANK and I have been in an ongoing dispute about the Promissory note accepted by them and the fact that the terms and conditions of that contract are Unconscionable and are False and Misleading. I have the right to request Adequate Assurance of Due Performance of a contract between XXXX parties as I have grounds to believe that the counterparty has not performed their part of the contract. The Financial Institution named JP MORGAN CHASE BANK has claimed that this installment 'contract ' is legally binding as i " owe '' them the amount owed above as if they loaned the money to me to obtain security interest in the vehicle ( pursuant to Title 12 U.S.C . 1431 it says otherwise ). During my Administrative Procedural Process to make a good faith attempt to settle the matter and clear up any confusion about the terms of the loan agreement regarding GAAP ( Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ), Instead I was ignored and constantly urged to keep making my normal monthly payments as they told me that Validation of the Debt was 'Valid ''. On XX/XX/2023 at XXXX XXXX i was contacted by JP MORGAN CHASE BANK collections department by someone by the name of XXXX who was attempting to collect a debt which was a violation of 15 U.S.C. 805 ( c ).
