Issue: Problem with customer service
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I deposited 3 checks on XX/XX/2023 and called chase bank customer service on XX/XX/2023 to ask about why my checks weren't deposited and they said they couldn't verify my checks and another representative said to wait until XX/XX/2023 so my checks can clear and that my money would be available to use. I called customer service on XX/XX/2023 and they said they weren't able to verify my checks. I talked to a customer service on XX/XX/2023 and the representative said the number they were calling to verify my checks was invalid and didn't ring at all, so I asked to talk to a manager and she was able to verify my checks but she said my account was closed and she needed to send a request so it can reopen. I called customer service on XX/XX/2023 and talked to a manager and he said my money was on suspension and he needed to send in a request to get my money back and it would take until XX/XX/2023 for a response. At XXXX XX/XX/2023 I called chase bank customer service at XXXX because I can't send money thru XXXX in the chase mobile app. Customer service said they couldn't verify me thru my phone number because there system wouldn't allow it and they were not gon na help me and refused to let me talk to a manager or supervisor and hanged up on me. The second time I called customer service they said they needed to send a request to allow my XXXX payment go thru and it would take up to 24 hours to be approved. I am still waiting for my money from my 3 deposited checks still and they won't allow me to send my money thru XXXX. I have reported this to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and currently have a case and I have been treated more unfairly after I reported them.

Consumer Complaint: The existence of a derogatory rating on my account is causing me significant concern. I am deeply worried about its potential impact on my credit. It has already resulted in the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the severe financial and emotional distress that this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I tried a couple of months ago to get the daily APR reduced on my Chase credit card because the fees equaled a monthly credit card payment. No luck. Skip forward to today, I fell behind two months and absorbed a tremendous amount of interest plus late fees. I talked to a service representative on XX/XX/2023 and he got the two months of late fees reversed but he said the request to get the interest fees reversed were declined. I checked my account this morning and found that a little amount of interest had been reversed. I have been told that interest charges can not be reversed or refunded but that is a lie. Chase is one of the worst banks to work with and should be fined.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, there was unauthorized activity on my card in XXXX XXXX, over an hour from my home. The charges included XXXX rides and a visit to a place called XXXX XXXX, totaling a staggering {$7000.00} for a single night. Following Chase 's instructions, I promptly filed a police report and submitted my phone records for that day, even though they claimed I received and responded to an SMS, which I can confirm I never did. This whole ordeal needs to be clarified because the case seemed prematurely closed without thoroughly reviewing the documentation I provided. In fact, the case was closed on two separate occasions and needed more consideration. I had to proactively inform them that I had spoken to someone in the fraud team and clarified that I was awaiting my phone company to send me my phone records via mail. Furthermore, they closed the case again when I explained that I was assisting a family member overseas and couldn't file the police report until my return to the United States. I've diligently followed every step they requested, offering clear evidence that I was not responsible for these transactions. Despite my efforts, my case was closed without a satisfactory resolution.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I recently spoke with several representatives at Chase about both a personal credit card and a business credit card I had taken out with them and were currently under a debt consolidation agreement. I detailed that in the summer of 2019 I was becoming concerned about my growing debt ; on both cards I was being charged about $ XXXX {$300.00} each in interest payments. The best advice I was given was to just hang tight and keep making payments. I turned XXXX that summer, and I was trying to pick myself up by the bootstraps and start a new company, but that was proving much harder than anticipated, and I was very upfront very early on that I needed help, and that I was in too deep. When the pandemic happened, I had no way of carrying on business. The banks at that time were deferring payments, but they were still collecting interest. In the aftermath, I was able to convince some kind representatives to reverse some of the interest charged during the pandemic as I entered into debt management ; through a third-party agency for my personal card and through the bank itself for the business card. The most recent calls I made for help were made purely out of desperation. I was taught to pay my bills on time, to build a relationship with a bank, to trust that they had my interest in mind. I learned that in the case of Chase, that is a fairytale from another time. I detailed to several representatives, sometimes choking back tears and sometimes crying outright, that I've had to put myself in positions and do things for money that made me unsafe, just so that I could pay back what is now a balance made up of XXXX of dollars of interest. I explained that I had called for help several times in 2019, but not one person recommended debt consolidation as a remedy. In one recent call a customer service representative said she was so sorry to hear my story, and that she would make sure that it would get taken care of. She transferred me to another representative to take care of it, but that representative said I'd been misinformed and that she would not be reassessing interest. In another call, at my wit 's end, I asked an account supervisor if it was the bank 's position to profit from the misfortune of customers, to squeeze every dollar out of them they could? They responded " Yes. Honestly, it is. '' The situation was escalated in another call, and I received back a short letter last week saying that the interest had been charged correctly and that there was no further action being taken on the account. The bank 's line seems to be that there's nothing to be done because it was all charged so long ago, but when I asked for help years ago there was no remedy offered. I could never win. I am now in my XXXX, one of countless people desperately trying to make ends meet, working gig after gig after gig to make up rent that soars higher by the year, and trying to pay back the interest charged on food from five years ago. There is a cruelty that was admitted to by that last representative : This is what the bank 's position is. The house always wins.
