Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I have been a client of Chase bank for roughly XXXX years. My personal ( joint with my wife ) checking account has always had a positive balance. I am a good client and never have done anything that would even make me think that I would receive a letter out of the blue stating that Chase has decided to close my personal checking account, although I do understand that Chase has the right to decide to close any clients account ( s ) or credit cards at any time without giving reason. On XX/XX/2023 I received XXXX letters in the mail from Chase ( the letters are dated XX/XX/2023 ), both stating that Chase has decided to close my bank accounts. My personal checking and savings account ( which have always kept a positive balance ), as well as an old business checking account ( which has always kept a positive balance ) that has had almost no activity over the past few months with minimal funds in the account. The letters also stated that Chase has decided to close my personal Chase credit card ( which I've worked years on building a respective credit score and credit limit, and I believe I have never had a late payment on ), and an old Chase Ink business card that is linked to my old Chase business account that has had very minimal activity over the past few months, as previously mentioned. The Chase XXXX XXXX credit card that I was notified about being closed has had an outstanding balance, as I've not used that card for any physical purchases in the past few months. Therefore, I did forget to constantly check on my credit card balance for that specific Business credit card and let a few charges that were on file ( auto charge ) accumulate to a total of not more than {$300.00}. The payment on this specific Chase XXXX XXXX credit card was a late payment ( I made the late payment on XX/XX/2023 ). Included in the {$290.00} payment, I also received a late payment fee of {$40.00} ( on XX/XX/2023 ) and a purchase interest charge of {$3.00} ( on XX/XX/2023 ). The entire credit card balance was fully paid off ( on XX/XX/2023 as mentioned above ). The Chase Business bank account that I am being notified about closing has had almost no activity over the past few months. The current balance in the account is less than {$200.00} and therefore causing a service charge of {$15.00} per month that the account had a balance under either XXXX or XXXX XXXX dollars. The reason given by Chase for closing my accounts and credit cards is as follows : We decided to close your account because of unexpected activity on these or another Chase account. I am unaware of any activity associated with my bank account ( XXXX ) and credit card ( XXXX ) that should have flagged any unexpected activity. My complaint is that as a loyal customer of Chase bank for roughly 8 years, combined with personal banking, business banking and credit cards - I do not feel that this notice I received is accurate ( based on the reason chase has given for closing my accounts and credit cards ). I am also unhappy that my wife and XXXX sons ( age XXXX and XXXX ) also received these same notification letters stating their bank accounts and my wife 's personal credit card will be closed. I do not feel that there is any possible way my wife and XXXX sons with minimal activity in their accounts could have possibly had any unexpected on their accounts.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, an account at chase bank was opened, that I had no knowledge of. My social security number, birthday, address and other personal info was provided. I called within 30mins to chase to close the account and to say I never opened the accounts. A debt account was also opened. When I received the cards in the mail at the end of the month I called chase bank again, to find out the debt card was not closed. This month, XXXX I received a letter from chase that {$700.00} was withdrawn out of the debt account. I called again to find out it was still not closed. After 2 hours on the phone I finally got the accounts closed and filed as fraud. Today XX/XX/XXXX, my sister XXXX XXXX also had a credit card applied for at chase bank.

Consumer Complaint: I recently opened a Chase Credit Card account - A XXXX XXXX. Within a month or so of having my account in great standing, paying on time, only using for basic everyday purchases, I received a letter saying they were closing my account. Without understanding why, since I have good credit and {$0.00} in debt to my name, no outstanding balances anywhere, I requested a motive. They did not give me XXXX other than in the past Chase had closed one of my accounts. About 12 years ago I had a Chase banking account and linked it to my XXXX where I ended up auctioning off things I had around the house. Chase said I was using a checking account as a business, which was very odd, but they ended up immediately closing my account, even though there were only a handful of transactions from XXXX and none that exceeded a few dollars. I went to the branch and was told the decision was final and I did not have the right of an appeal. The issue I have is they approved my credit card and ran a credit report, and now I have not only a credit request, but also an account closed under my name and I have never done anything remotely wrong. They put a dent on my credit and I have not broken any laws, rules or regulations.

Meanwhile, XXXX team reaches out to Chase multiple times but they refuse to discuss situation with them even though XXXX now owned the financing. I knew nothing of these conversations until my loan rate increase to 21 % as of XX/XX/2023. I contacted XXXX, contacted Chase. Visited the XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and the branch XXXX printed out the entire loan package including an confirmed correct odometer reading. I took the package to XXXX that day and confirmed that it was signed for on XX/XX/XXXX. Expecting the title, I called and was told XXXX XXXX XXXX up to XXXX weeks. It was already XXXX weeks from receipt. Spoke to a supervisors, XXXX, ID XXXX and then XXXX ID XXXX. Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I have had Chase account and credit cards for years. I use my Chase Ink card to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. When a lawyer does not provide services and withdraws from representation, then I contact Chase and dispute the charge and it is credited back. This happened with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX did not get credit till May 5 months later over 150 days CHASE violated the Fair Credit Billing act 1026.13 Billing error resolution. There have been 3 lawyers who charged the retainer, stopped answering my calls, did not file motions, and withdrew without providing any services or doing ANY work on my cases. I have sent in 3 letters explaning that XXXX XXXX is an unethical lawyer, who uses her lawyer certification as a ponsie scheme. She drafted up invoices stating she provided services when she did not. I had to hire XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to file a XXXX XXXX to stop the sale on a property that my deposit was being held in court. She didnt file anything and stopped returning my calls, so the charge was reversed. I have demanded the {$5000.00} from the rebill be permanently credited on XXXX was rebilled and stated in a letter ( time lapsed ) that is not true XXXX filed dispute in XXXX and I noted the account XXXX XXXX XXXX is being investigated by the Florida Bar Association for numerous complaints & sanctions from her clients. She has about XXXX XXXX reviews ( including mine ) warning people not to retain her for services as she will take your money & run, leaving you in worst financial position with judgments and liens ordered by the judges in court. Now I had to appeal all my cases, try to vacate default judgments and sue XXXX XXXX XXXX for legal malpractice. I retained XXXX XXXX who is charging {$7000.00} just to get cases back open & vacate judgments and then I have to pay another retainer to sue XXXX XXXX XXXX. I uploaded proof that XXXX XXXX filed the documents she was suppose to do in XX/XX/XXXX. CHASE still has {$5000.00} on my card with interest since XXXX rebill. I called twice last week and Customer Service said XX/XX/XXXX in review, but credit not showing and there is no reason why the {$5000.00} should be on my card. I submitted all emails that she stated she withdrew in XXXX and I uploaded atleast 5 emails where I demanded she send credit back and she would write " im preparing your closing package '' this is a liar, there is no closing package. When a lawyer withdraws a form sent substitution of council and I notarize it. She purposely did not send the form so that another lawyer would not take cases. So now the new lawyer has to have a hearing to tell the judge XXXX XXXX XXXX was terminated for not providing any services of drafting & filing court ordered documents for all 5 cases that were in trial or about to start trial. CHASE INK usually protects me with fraudelent charges, this is the first time they allowed such a large amount to stay on my card and getting interest charges on {$5000.00}! Thats not right and I am thinking of going to XXXX XXXX for business card if this is not immediately fixed.

Consumer Complaint: Chase Bank A vendor erroneously charged card twice. {$25000.00} duplicate charge. To preserve account good standing, I paid both amounts. Vendor has since corrected and Chase took forever to reflect credit ( almost a week ) and is taking yet another week to process paperwork and claims they need yet another week to send a check ( 3 weeks of {$25000.00} of stolen money ). I will also report to Southwest who is the credit card partner.

Consumer Complaint: Chase Bank closed my account on XX/XX/XXXX, but did not notify me. I only found out on XX/XX/XXXX when I went to use my card. I also tried to retrieve my money from my account as I, like many Americans, have bills to pay. Chase denied me access from getting my money even though the representative AND the teller in the bank informed me that I could have my money and they would not withhold it.
