Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: Out of the blue, XXXX sent me a bill for over {$400.00}, despite me having no business with XXXX for at least 6 months. I called XXXX and requested proof of debt. They responded by sending me another bill with late fees. I then sent them the first of four ( 4 ) CERTIFIED letters requesting proof or debt, itemized charges & copy of any agreement I signed. XXXX continued to send me bills with late fees but never responded nor sent me any proof of debt as required by law. After my 4th certified letter to them that was completely ignored, they sent my account to collections with IC systems. I called IC systems and requested proof of debt, itemized charges and a copy of any agreement I signed and they ignored me, just like XXXX. So at this point, both companies have violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act and have illegally sent my account to collections and damaged my credit. When I submit complaints with the credit reporting agency, they tell me that IC systems/Sprint confirmed the debt and they won't remove it from my credit report. However, they have refused and failed to confirm the debt with me. They have violated the FCRA and they are continuing to refuse to supply the information or remove the false claim from my report. At this point, they've had 6 different certified letters sent, to both XXXX and IC systems. They have blown me off for 2 years now and I demand this get removed. They completely failed to follow the FCRA and, as written in the act, the debt is invalid if they fail to comply with the FCRA and fail to provide me with the legally required information in a timely manner. I know nothing of this debt and at this point, both XXXX & IC systems have gone well past the timeframe legally spelled out in the FCRA, making this debt invalid.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was paid

Consumer Complaint: I had an account with XXXX XXXX and after the account was cancelled they sent it over to I.C Systems. Which I then made payment directly to XXXX for the past due amount of {$240.00} on XX/XX/2021 to keep the bill from reflecting on my credit report. Which XXXX did not send that over once I paid. The collection company told me it was my responsibility to make sure they were notified that the bill was paid. But they sent an electronic request to XXXX for this matter. When they reached out to XXXX they contacted the wrong department for this account information. So when I received a letter stating that the bill still had not been paid, I reached out and they informed me that if was job to make sure they got information again. Which I called XXXX and after getting to the right department they said no I paid this account back on XX/XX/2021 and sent it over. But XXXX did not send the court date, and I C Systems are still telling me it's not their jobs to verify the correct information, and that I will need to wait for it to be removed my credit report or trying disputes with the credit bureaus. Which I do not feel that it is my job to go through all these hurdles when the company could make a few phone calls to resolve this issue.
